"The defense upgrade requirement has changed. The raw material required has increased since the last time I saw it." Lucas muttered in front of the others that were listening to him intently.
The shelter upgrade requirements were too much for now s Lucas had ignored it.
"But the upgrades are still within reason, right?" John asked the logical question getting an agreeing nod from Lucas in response.
"Good, then let's start with the upgrade already."
Lucas explained to everyone about the raw materials that they still needed and since their strength, stamina, and intelligence had increased from the last time they made the defense, making the same old raw materials was a piece of cake.
The axe heads were even sharper than before with the help of the big bolder. Getting the spears, axe heads sharp on it had also made the boulder narrow from one side.
The main focus for Lucas was the fiber ropes. They were easy to make but it still took him an hour to make them all on his own.
The others were still making the planks as the upgrade of the defense may have been possible for now but if they were to upgrade with only this many supplies then there would be nothing left in the storage of the raw materials thus making things much more difficult.
So the others who were not busy training helped John cut the trees and make planks out of them to have a boon in the supplies again.
While they were doing that, the others that did not participate had a very good reason for not participating, they included Barney, Sean, Sandra, Haley, and Bill. The usual nonfighting members of the small community.
They were the only ones that were behind the others when it came to the levels of their skills. With Sean at the bottom because of his unseriousness toward his own life.
The others were done with the arrangement quickly and the John team was able to manufacture 100 more planks with the help of the big manpower.
Lucas on the other hand did the ropes on his own as he was fast because of his continuous work in the small makeshift workshop.
"Alright, we are ready... Everybody! Get outside the shelter now!" Lucas shouted and with the whole group with him, they went outside the shelter in order to look at the upgrade process in the front row seats.
When they were all finally out of the shelter, Lucas clicked on the upgrade option the next seconds making the light shine out from deep within the shelter. The light that shot from the shelter illuminated the defenses in a big bright white aura hindering them from knowing if the whole shelter was in the process of upgrade or just the defenses.
CREAK CREAK THUMP THUMP THUMP CHOMP THUD!!
The same old sounds came from the shelter and not a single member of the shelter panicked, all of them had already witnessed and had already known in their hearts that the same thing would happen again.
GROWL...
A faint growl resounded from one of the far bushes making all the members with good senses turn toward the sound's location.
"Everyone get ready, we got company."
'Deja-vu?' Lucas thought.
The growl did not come again making the others confused and some even thought that it was just a mistake that they heard it but like always, they were wrong. The senses of so many good fighters couldn't be wrong as they had honed these senses with leveling and experience.
CRUNCH CRACK
The dried leaves and small twigs broke on contact when a silhouette came out of the bush. It was a familiar-looking creature yet some of its features were way different than the ones Lucas had seen his whole life.
"A dog?"
"That's your reaction? What about the two heads you are looking at right now?" Lucas growled and also thought about the description of the creature.
---
Two headed Demonic Hound
Level 8
Origin- Ignasium
---
Lucas looked at the description and after observing their reaction, he didn't find it right to tell them that the hound's existence was looking like it originated from hell.
But the Hound was nothing like what could be found in the lava-filled torturous hell, for starters, the skin tone of the hound was yellowish with no signs of fur at all.
GROWL GROWL
The two heads of the creature growled together.
"Oh my god, the skills!"
Lucas looked back finding Bill with glowing eyes while staring at the Hound whose growling increased as if it felt kind of naked and threatened in front of Bill.
"It has fireball like Sarah and another skill called Companion growl!"
"NO shit, Sherlock," Lucas said while he equipped both his swords in his hands.
One of the heads had its mouth open while a ball of fire formed within it which seemed like coming from the neck as it turned redder with every second.
SWOOSH!
The fireball without any throwing force of its own came toward the group with speed making Lucas surprised for a second.
BOOM!!
Lucas moved his sword with the bladeless portion of the blade hitting the ball as if the sword was a bat. Lucas only performed this attack with one hand which made all his muscles bulge making him want to just give a battle roar to lighter the pain.
Yet the fireball finally blasted on impact making winds blow furiously. Luckily for the group, the winds were not generated by the blast but by John who kept the force of the blast and all the smoke and fire inside the flow of the wind not letting even a single strand of anyone's existence feel the heat from the fireball.
While they were taking care of the surprise fireball, the other head of the hound had started to howl with his mouth up.
The howl seemed like a pretty normal one that any wolf could copy but something extremely different from their wildest dreams happened.
A small crack in the air formed right at the side of the hound making them all peer inside a red surface. A lava-like substance was falling off from the air out of somewhere in the back while the land had tears and whispers coming out of it.
Everyone froze at the surprise visit, two silhouettes climbed out of the relatively small crack in the air and finally, the crack closed just after a split second of the creatures entering their land.
"What the fuck?!" Lucas exclaimed without worrying caring how John would react to his cussing.
The phenomena were just too damn chilling and on another level of surprise that a person might have literally shat his pants in the normal world.
"The fuck indeed!" John managed to his surprise, his eyes wide with shock and awe.
The newly arrived creatures were unlike anything they had encountered before. Their presence emitted an aura of otherworldly power, and it was evident that they were far from ordinary beings.
The two silhouettes revealed themselves as they stepped out of the crack in the air. Each had distinct features that set them apart from the two-headed hound and anything else they had encountered in the forest. Lucas, with his ever-curious nature, couldn't resist studying them carefully.

"Can you see it too?"
"... Yeah."
"We don't have time! Get ready to fight!" Lucas shouted loudly trying to hide his panic.
Lucas didn't understand what was happening as they didn't even have the time to read the whole thing. The two beings had some kind of madness in their eyes that made Lucas feel in danger and threatened. Discover exclusive content at empire
One of them made eye contact with Lucas and then jumped inside the other creature's shadow not letting anyone understand what the heck was going on.
It seemed the gods had started to show their existence and true colors after a long time.
