Legendary Shelter Survival Guide

Chapter 127: The whole face burned completely!!

"Where is it?!" Lucas stepped back making the others do the same as him instinctively.

One of the creatures just went inside the other's shadow and vanished completely making Lucas wonder whether it could also have the means to travel through their shadows.

For the first time he came here, Lucas looked at his shadow which was the same as before. It was a bit long due to the sun's direction.

"Got it!" Someone exclaimed from the back making Lucas have his heart skip a beat. The person had shouted which made him think whether he was hurt or not.

But the case was totally different, Lucas looked at Bill who had his daggers pointed at Sarah's shadow. Fear soon formed in Lucas's mind when he thought of the possibility of Sarah getting hurt.

He was going to move and do something alas another chill ran through his spine. Lucas darted his eyes toward the other creature from whose shadow the other creature vanished.

The creature had fire continuously burning on its neck and tail. Its eyes did not have any whites and no pupils, the color was pitch blood red making it difficult to know where it was looking, aside from the direction of its head.

The Ember Wraith didn't do anything, no movements, no howls or anything but still, five fireballs of a small size formed and floated right above its head.

Lucas readied his swords for the upcoming attacks without having any intention to turn and look for Sarah's safety. The fireballs looked menacing enough and if he were to lose focus, Lucas was sure someone was going to get hurt soon.

"Bill.! Protect the others from the damn thing. I will take care of this one!" Lucas darted with speed toward the fiery creature, dirt got thrown making a small crevice from where he started running.

The fiery creature didn't react at all and stayed in its same position without a single worry.

Lucas instinctively activated his perceptive eyes making the world change yet again.

This time, all the other things near the shelter were very colorful but Lucas didn't look at them as every second of the skill's use meant that his mana was getting deplenished real quick.

Lucas was happy that he placed a lot of free points on his mana stat making it possible to prologue the use of his perceptive eyes from before.

The skill had also leveled up by one making it more comfortable for Lucas to look at the small and fine details that one misses by looking through their naked eyes.

Lucas's attention was on the creature whose whole existence was pitch red in color. Lucas felt like he was wearing thermal vision only this time the color wasn't bright white but scary pitch red.

The five fireballs blazed in bright yellow and Lucas looked at them intently in order to find even the slightest change. After using the skills, again and again, hs had found various useful uses about the skill.

Soon, he stood corrected when he found one of the fireballs become bright, Lucas instinctively knew what was going to happen.

"Here it comes!" Lucas thought aloud as the fiery creature launched the bright fireball toward him.

Reacting quickly, Lucas sidestepped to avoid the direct hit, feeling the scorching heat as the fireball passed close by. The ground where the fireball landed turned into a temporary sea of flames.

The flames were far away from the others as Lucas had traveled further toward the fiery creature making a lot of distance between him and the group.

Not wasting any time, Lucas lunged forward, his swords shone in the sunlight. With precise movements, he struck at the fiery creature, aiming for its vulnerable spot.

However, he noticed that the creature didn't seem to react to the pain or even acknowledge his attacks

'What?' Lucas frowned while looking at the pitch-red eyes of the fiery creature. He was this close to the creature yet it still remained calm as if its arrogance had no bounds.

Despite the creature's lack of response, Lucas pressed on, determined to keep it distracted and away from the others.

As he continued to push the blade inside the creature's assumed gut, his perceptive eyes caught something peculiar—a faint shift in the creature's flames before it launched another fireball.

With newfound insight, Lucas anticipated the attack and dodged the fireball with even more ease. He realized that the fiery creature's flames changed color ever so slightly before it launched an offensive move. It was like a small warning amidst the chaotic nature of the battle.

Drawing upon his perceptive eyes, Lucas focused on predicting the creature's attacks by analyzing the variations in the flame colors. As he danced around the fiery creature, he adapted to its patterns, avoiding fireballs and delivering calculated strikes.

Soon, the creature was leaking blood but to its advantage, the wounds that Lucas made a while ago were now fully healed on their own.

Five more fireballs got generated by the creature and Lucas had no way but to dodge and attack.

Lucas felt vulnerable as the creature was one-upping him with every strike he made till now. It was as if it didn't care at all showing Lucas the severity of the situation.

Meanwhile, in the back with the groups. There was a huge commotion.

In the start when Lucas left, Bill used his daggers and his affinity with the stealth and darkness ability to tell where the creature was located and coming from.

Before a head could even bulge, BIll with the help of his darkness-filled daggers struck the creature right at the eye making it squeal in agony.

The creature then went inside the shadow again and from then on, Bill was able to pinpoint the exact and accurate place where it was coming from making the creature become useless completely.

There came a point that the creature just came out completely without minding the small but strong stab that Bill made in the process at its side.

Despite the danger, Bill was relieved that he could protect his friends from the shadowy creature's attacks. He knew he had to keep up the pressure, not allowing the creature any opportunity to harm them.

Back in the heat of battle, Lucas noticed a slight change in the fiery creature's movements. It seemed to be growing more agitated as it failed to land a decisive blow on him. With each dodge and attack, Lucas chipped away at its confidence making Lucas get his confidence increased in the process.

Then, he saw it—the creature's pitch-red flames flickered for a brief moment before it launched a fireball. In that fleeting instant, Lucas realized that the fireball was the only attack that it repeats again and again. It had a cooldown time that left it vulnerable.

With a plan in mind, Lucas kept patience, waiting for the next charge-up. As the fiery creature prepared to unleash its next fireball, Lucas used his perceptive eyes to analyze the changes in its flames and predict the perfect moment to strike which was only possible with the help of his perceptive eyes.

With impeccable timing, Lucas lunged forward, stabbing at the fiery creature just as it released the fireball. His attack landed well again, hitting a crucial point on its body. The creature let out a howl of pain, and its fireball shot off course, harmlessly dissipating in the distance.

Lucas was happy that finally, he was able to do something painful to the fiery creature. He took the moment and stabbed his second sword inside the creature right at the side of the other one.

'Something still feels wrong...' Lucas thought and hoped that he would be wrong this time as every time he made an assumption, there was a huge possibility that it was going to be true.

And yet again, his senses didn't dwindle, the creature moved its intelligent eyes toward Lucas and opened its mouth.

BOOM!

"AAGHH!!" Lucas had no time when a corrosive spit splashed all over his face making a very painful burning sensation as if someone had splashed acid on his face.

The others looked at him and were shocked, Luacs's face was getting burned quickly and black smoke was coming out of the burnt skin.

Half of Lucas's face was now fully charcoal with very high-degree burns and John could even look at Lucas'a left eye socket's insides.

The fight that Lucas was thinking that he was going to win had started to feel like a losing one.

But amidst all the chaos, Lucas still had his sanity intact, he didn't know why but the pain may have been very high but it came to a point where the pain became so extreme that even feeling it was not possible, Lucas felt numb and in that duration, he activated his sword's electric ability.

The tables had turned, and the fiery creature finally showed signs of distress as high voltage currents literally felt everywhere in its body.

Its movements became more erratic, and the fireballs it generated were no longer as menacing as before. Lucas took advantage of the creature's weakened state, delivering another big voltage by exhausting away his mana points without care.

His life was more important than some mana exhaustion that could get fixed with some day's rest.
