Chapter 20: Chapter 21: Survival Training
A few days after the combat training, the cadets were given a new test—survival training in the forest for three days.
Keith Shadis stood before the line of cadets, his usual cold expression unwavering.
"YOU WILL BE DIVIDED INTO SMALL GROUPS AND MUST SURVIVE IN THE FOREST!!!"
The cadets started whispering among themselves.
"Seriously? We have to survive in the wild?"
"Without provided food?"
Adam sighed. "I'm already used to this…"
Mikasa looked at him. "You've been independent since you were little."
Christa looked a bit nervous. "I've never tried this before…"
Ymir patted her back. "Don't worry, I'll take care of you."
Keith continued, "TEAM 7: ADAM, CHRISTA, AND REINER!!!"
Adam raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Christa looked slightly surprised, while Reiner smirked. "Hmm, this should be interesting."
Ymir immediately frowned. "Oi! Why is Krista on his team again?!"
Adam turned to Ymir with a relaxed smile. "Maybe it's fate?"
Ymir clicked her tongue in annoyance, while Christa smiled awkwardly.
The Survival Begins!
After a long journey, Adam, Christa, and Reiner arrived deep in the forest.
They had to find shelter and gather food on their own.
Adam immediately scanned the surroundings. "Alright, we need shelter first."
Reiner nodded. "I can help gather wood."
Christa hesitated a little. "I… can help too."
Adam smiled. "Don't worry, I'll teach you."
Christa blushed slightly. "Thank you, Adam."
Reiner squinted his eyes with a small smirk. "Hmmm… you're lucky to be around such a pretty girl so often."
Adam simply chuckled. "I didn't choose my team, you know?"
After building a shelter from wood and leaves, the three of them went to search for food.
Adam found some edible fruits, while Reiner searched for clean water.
Christa tried picking mushrooms, but Adam quickly stopped her.
"Don't touch that, it might be poisonous."
Krista gasped. "Oh… sorry."
Adam smiled gently. "It's okay. In the wild, we have to be extra careful."
Christa nodded, then smiled. "I'm happy to learn from you."
Reiner raised an eyebrow as he watched the two of them.
Why does the atmosphere between them feel like this?

A Night Under the Stars
Night fell, and the three of them sat around the campfire.
Christa gazed at the sky. "The stars here are so beautiful…"
Adam looked at her for a moment before saying, "Yeah… they are."
Reiner observed their interaction with a curious expression.
Christa turned to Adam. "You've been living on your own for a long time, right?"
Adam nodded. "Yeah. Surviving has always been my way of life."
Christa lowered her head slightly. "I… wish I could be that strong."
Adam gave a small smile. "You can. You just need to believe in yourself."
Christa's eyes sparkled. "Thank you, Adam…"
Reiner suddenly chuckled. "Hah… this feels like a young romance scene."
Christa immediately blushed. "Reiner! Don't say that!"
Adam just laughed. "Just let him be."
Reiner smirked. "But honestly, you're quite the interesting guy, Adam. No wonder so many girls are drawn to you."
Adam shrugged casually. "I don't do anything special."
Reiner simply smiled mysteriously.

A Dangerous Encounter!
While searching for food on the second day, Christa suddenly screamed.
"KYAAAH!!!"
Adam and Reiner immediately turned and ran toward her.
They found a large bear near Krista!
Reiner gritted his teeth. "This is bad!"
Adam quickly pulled Christa behind him. "Don't move."
The bear roared and prepared to attack.
Reiner took a defensive stance. "We have to fight it!"
Adam sighed. Why do things like this always happen?
He then whispered, "I'll distract it. Reiner, attack from the side."
Reiner nodded. "Got it!"
Adam picked up a rock and threw it at the bear's head.
BAM!
The bear roared in rage and immediately charged at Adam!
Christa held her breath. "Adam, be careful!!!"
Adam ran swiftly, dodging the bear's claws.
As the bear momentarily let its guard down, Reiner slashed its leg with a knife.
SLASH!
The bear roared in pain and finally fled into the forest.
Adam exhaled. "Huh… that was close."
Christa immediately ran to him. "You're not hurt, are you?"
Adam smiled. "I'm fine."
Without warning, Christa hugged him tightly.
"Don't do anything that dangerous again… I don't want you to get hurt…"
Adam was momentarily surprised but then smiled gently. "I'll be fine, don't worry."
Reiner watched them and smirked. "Well, now I'm even more certain."
Adam looked at him. "Certain about what?"
Reiner chuckled. "Nothing."
Christa continued hugging Adam for a moment before finally letting go, her face red.
Her feelings for Adam were growing even stronger…
