Leveling Endlessly With My Harem

Chapter 10: Secrets aren't meant to be shared

Charlotte and Stelle had been waiting for almost two hours outside the narrow gap in the wall. Fortunately, they were attacked only once so they rested enough.

"Big Sis, don't you think he's strange?" Stelle asked, giving a side glance to the narrow gap.

"How so?" Charlotte asked in curiosity.

"I don't know. I'm just getting this strange feeling from him and you know I'm never wrong about these things," Stelle said. "He... he's weird."

"Do you think he harbours malicious intent..." Charlotte asked.

"No, that is what surprised me the most," Stelle shook her head, still puzzled about the whole situation. "I can sense that he... cares about us? Yeah, he definitely cares about us. Also, when he was joking, he never once looked at us in the wrong way."

"I also noticed it," Charlotte nodded.

They were both beautiful and had their share of trouble with men. They were used to seeing lecherous looks from men, even though many tried to hide them.

Even though it was probably not intentional, they did look at their bodies in a way that the girls didn't like. It helped that Stelle's weird intuition always came to their aid and she could tell which men harboured ill intent towards them.

But Max was different. Even though they had met only once, his eyes were filled with genuine care towards them. His gaze was pure and full of admiration.

They couldn't understand how or why he looked at them like that. Why he cared so much about people he had met only a few minutes ago? It didn't make sense.

"I want to find everything about him," Stelle grinned and said. "It's been a while since I've met such an interesting person so I want to know more about him."

"Is that love at first sight?" Charlotte teased her younger sister.

"Please, Big Sis, he isn't even handsome," Stelle shook her head. "I'm just curious about his behaviour. Also, I find it strange that he knows so much about monsters and Labyrinths even though he looks like a slum rat."

Her eyes shone as an idea formed in her head. She smirked and said, "Let's observe him for the next two days and..."

Just then, they noticed someone coming out of the gap, and their eyes widened slightly in surprise, especially Charlotte, who could sense the power in his body.

"Level 3? No way, right?" Charlotte was dumbfounded and couldn't help but check him even more.

"Huh? Your red hair turned white? What the hell?"

Meanwhile, Stelle noticed something else entirely, as she jumped around Max and studied him.

Stopping before him, she said, "You also look... hmm, how should I say, not so poor now. Your leveling up brought a lot of change, huh."

"My hair?" Max raised an eyebrow before he remembered the illness he had given to the protagonist. It made his hair change colour, from black to white and then white to red.

He would die if his head turned pure red one day.

"Aghh! What a drag!"

But it was fine, since it could be solved by just leveling up. Shaking those thoughts off, he asked, "Were you attacked?"

"Not really," Charlotte answered, reining in her emotions. "If it's not a problem, can I ask what your current level is?"

"First of all, my name is Max, and as for your question, it's Level 3," Max winked at her with a smile on his face.

"WHAT!???"

Max stepped back, hearing a loud scream right in his ears. He patted his ears and said, "Can you please shut your speaker?"

"You're lying, right?" Stelle refused to believe it, as she checked him up and down. "There's no way you leveled up three times in one go. Impossible!"

It was impossible, but for others. Going from a mundane human to Level 3 required 66 EXP, meaning he needed to kill and absorb 66 Mana Shards from Level 1 First Grade monsters.

That could be done slowly or if he was given those 66 Mana Shards by someone else.

Sadly, logic didn't work with the Leveling System.

"How did you do it?" Charlotte asked, her eyes shining in curiosity.

"Miss beautiful healer, you don't expect me to reveal my secret, right?" Max said with a smile. "I just showed you my progress because I want to continue hunting with you two."

"Oh... I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked that," Charlotte quickly apologized, realising that she was being rude.

"Hey, what's up with keeping secrets? Let's share it, okay?" Stelle asked, as she took Max's hand and swung it, while making an innocent face towards him.

'..Cute!' Max stared at her for a moment and then said, "You seem like the person who would spill secrets at the first chance they get. So no!"

"Stelle, it's enough," Charlotte sighed and said, "We'll respect your decision and won't ask. But I want to know if you want to take advantage of us."

"Who wouldn't want to take advantage of you..." Max muttered, but hissed in pain when he received a kick in the knees. Looking down, he saw Stelle giving him a middle finger.

His lips twitched as he asked, "Do you even know what that means?"

"Of course, do you think I'm some little kid?" Stelle snorted, as if insulted by his claims. "It means you're a pervert."

Max just gave her a blank look before turning towards Charlotte and asked, "How can she be innocent, yet so annoying?"

"Alright, can you two stop fighting?" Charlotte rolled her eyes. "Also, Stelle, never do that again and that's an order."

Ignoring the grumpy Stelle, Charlotte said, "Please answer my question seriously."

"The answer is no. I don't plan to take advantage of you in any way. Max is a man of his words and he has his morals and rules that he never breaks. Also, I plan to share my loot with you so don't worry about that too."

Charlotte gave a side glance to Stelle and found her smiling, which made her smile as well. She then stretched her hand and said, "Then, I will pretend you have a normal growth and never mention it to anyone. I hope we have a good cooperation."

"It is my pleasure," Max smiled, feeling that he had accomplished something great. Well, he had in a way.
