Leveling Endlessly With My Harem

Chapter 15: First Proper Fight

Stelle walked out of the exit hole with a wide grin on her face. Just from the sparkles in her eyes, Max could see that she had indeed succeeded and leveled up.

'I wonder if I can see their status?'

[Not now. Rank up a little and then you can.]

'That's a shame,' Max also smiled and said, "Congratulations, what's your current level?"

"Level 7, of course. The Mana in it wasn't enough for me to level up twice, you know," Stelle said, still happy about her advancement.

After all, leveling up took time as they needed to assimilate many Mana Shards, so every level up was worth it.

"It's already a miracle that you're on Level 7 in just a few days," Charlotte said, also happy for her sister. "Congratulations."

"Hehe, thanks thanks! Now, can we get to work? I wanna level up even more so I can get some skills when I reach Silver Rank," Stelle said, excited to hunt the monsters.

Max didn't have any problems with that as he himself wanted to level up quickly, so he nodded and said, turning towards Charlotte, "Then, we will continue our conversation later on."

"Sure," Charlotte gave a light smile to him.

"Woah! Big Sis actually smiled at a man," Stelle muttered in astonishment. Nudging her sister's shoulder, she asked, "What did the two of you talk about?"

However, Charlotte completely ignored her and began to look around for any clues for the monsters. It was kind of surprising that they had to run around to find monsters when usually the labyrinth was filled with them.

"It's probably because of the Blood Castle map. People are killing every monster they see in hopes of getting it," Max said, then began walking downwards in the cave. "Let's go!"

They had to walk for a few minutes to encounter their first monster... or rather a group of them. They quickly hid behind a rock to assess the situation first.

The monsters were One-Horned Rats, as Max had expected. They were no different from an ordinary rat with dusty fur except for their horn, height, and crimson red eyes.

They stood easily over a metre tall, with a long dark horn protruding from the middle of their forehead. They were currently busy munching on the corpse of some monster, with gore and its messy splatter all over the floor.

"A total of five... each one of them is around Level 4," Stelle muttered, looking at the rats. "You said you wanted to kill them, right? I'll distract them and then you can kill them."

"Alright, thanks in advance," Max said, unsheathing his dull blade. "Charlotte, do you have any ranged healing?"

"I have, but it's a Silver Rank skill so I can't use it here," Charlotte replied. "I only have three Bronze Rank skills. One is the Slow Motion that I used earlier, and the other two are minor healing ones."

"I see, no problem then. Just keep your Mana reserves full then," Max said, with no change in tone. "We'll handle them. Let's go, Little brat."

"Your father is Little brat," Stelle spat and jumped out of hiding. Her short legs leaped a long distance as she ran towards the rats.

'I wonder if she will say that after knowing who he is,' Max smirked and also ran behind her.

There was a reason he was picking up weaker targets and using the support of two ladies. He had theoretical knowledge, but he was a bum in real-life fighting.

He never practiced anything back on Earth and the previous Max also didn't have the chance to practice anything. He was currently no different from a somewhat powerful kid running to his doom.

"I will learn!" Max's eyes cleared up as he ducked down to avoid a rock thrown at him. Apparently, the Rats had noticed him too, so they had begun their offensive attacks.

Stelle was already upon them, her superior physical might easily overpowering them as she danced around them. Her footwork was strange and amateurish, but it was still better than nothing.

Max observed it all and then caught a One-Horned Rat wandering away from its group. He quickly jumped in its way and engaged in the battle.

The One-Horned Rat before him had higher physical prowess, but it didn't have the brain to use it. So, he dodged all the attacks, finding many of them deadly enough to rip his throat.

Sensing the paw coming down at his head, Max kicked his feet against the floor and rolled to the Rat's side. Before it could react, he pierced the base of its tail with his dull blade.

Blood swept out of its body, as it staggered forward and fell on the ground. However, it didn't die yet. Max knew that clearly, so he pressed his advantage and cut the whole tail from its base.

'Now, the fun begins,' Max smiled as he backed away.

In the next moment, a fountain of blood shot out of the rat's body, as its eyes rolled back.

[You have slain Level 4 First-Grade Monster, granted 3 EXP]

Max gave a long look to the corpse, wondering how the science of this world worked. But he gave up quickly on that aspect as he himself had never thought of any proper explanation while writing it.

"Oh well, I'll just blame everything on Labyrinth."

He then looked back and saw Stelle basically playing around with the remaining four. If not for Max's request, she would have already killed all of them by now.

"She is a lovely brat," Max smiled and ran towards the remaining four to finish them.

He was already getting the hang of swinging his sword and fighting based on instincts. He just needed to work a little more on this aspect until he learned a proper technique or acquired more advanced skills.

[Adaptation is a bullshit skill!]

'Indeed it is, so thank you. Now, let me focus on the killing.'

Max quickly dived into the group of four One-Horned Rats and gestured to Stelle to back away. He wanted to fight them alone.
