Leveling Endlessly With My Harem

Chapter 14: A Meaningful Conversation

Max didn't have to wait for long as Charlotte and Stelle soon caught up to him. The tunnel was also coming to an end so they didn't initiate conversation and waited.

Reaching the exit, they stopped as Charlotte said, "Fine! We want to go with you!"

"Noice! I can assure you won't regret it," Max smiled at that. "But we will need to farm a little first. Finding its weakness won't be easy and it can also kill us before we even use that weakness."

"You're the weakest here, you know," Stelle rolled her eyes and said. "But I'll help you in leveling so we should be able to level up once or twice at least."

"But we need to hurry to reach that...castle?" Charlotte said.

"Don't worry about it," Max waved his hand nonchalantly. "It will still take two turns for it to open. Today is 23rd, so it will open on the 25th turn."

The Labyrinth wasn't open all the time and different floors had different opening and exiting times. Fortunately, the first floor's portal opened every twenty-four hours, and that was called Turns.

"How do you know that?" Stelle asked, narrowing her eyes in suspicion.

"Just a little secret of mine," Max winked at her and looked away, making her stomp the ground in frustration.

Some might call Max an idiot for sharing information and revealing his powers. But he had his motives for doing so. Hiding powers didn't work every time, and for his situation, he needed to show that he was capable and mysterious.

[You will announce your strength to the world? That's surprising!]

'Nah, I'm not that idiotic. I'm just using everything at my disposal. Also, I will still have some triumph card which I'll never tell others, because underestimating helps you win.' Max smiled.

"We will do that then," Charlotte nodded, sending a strange glance at Max. "Do you know any good place for farming?"

"We're already here," Max pointed outside of the tunnel. "It's an area of the One-Horned Rat, a rather powerful monster race. When they advance to Second-Grade, they can fire laser beams from their horns but for now, they're mostly physical."

"We know at least that much," Stelle said in a serious tone. "What about their weakness? It's widely known they're tough to deal with because they fight in groups and have sturdy armour around their bodies."

"The common knowledge about its weakness is the base of the horn," Max said. "It is in a way its weakness, but it takes too much time to damage it. But we can use its other weakness."

"And that is?"

"The base of its tail," Max responded. "Its tail is also very sturdy and whips hard, but its base is very soft. If you hammer there, you'll see how you can use the weakness."

"Base of the tail, huh," Stelle said with a nod. "Alright, let's go and hunt those little rats. Also, the loot will be divided by who kills more."

"Nah, you just let me kill them and you can take all the lower level Mana Shards," Max shrugged. "In exchange I'll be taking the most important thing from Blood Castle, okay?"

Stelle raised an eyebrow, wondering what kind of scheme he was planning. But she couldn't think of anything except that the thing in Blood Castle was really important to him.

"Fine! I'll take all the low-level Mana Shards then," Stelle agreed, as she didn't have any problems with that.

Mana Shards of lower level wouldn't give her much EXP individually, but it was different if she absorbed many of them. She was already looking for ways to level up.

"Oh yeah, can I absorb this now?" Stelle asked, showing the Dungeon Rat's Mana Shard. Enough time had passed, so she wanted to absorb it now.

Max didn't answer immediately but went to look outside first. After a few seconds, he returned and said, "You can try if you're confident because the area itself is empty."

Stelle grinned and said, "I know its weakness so it shouldn't be impossible to deal with. Also, I need to level up quickly to assist your weak ass."

"Bad words, little girl," Max slightly knocked on her head and began to walk away. "Good luck!"

Charlotte also smiled at her and left the tunnel through the exit hole, leaving her alone to absorb it.

The outside was yet another underground cave, not much different from the ones they had been travelling in. She muttered, "How do people even remember it?"

"Shape, size, landmarks, there are a lot of things, you know," Max answered, standing against the rocky wall. "Like this one has this tunnel as a landmark, that giant O-shaped rock..."

Charlotte tilted her head to the sides, still confused as she said, "I still can't wrap my head around it."

"It's fine," Max smiled. "By the way, I'll introduce myself again since we're practically a team now, well, I'm hoping at least we are."

"If everything goes smoothly this time, then sure," Charlotte said, having no problem with travelling with a regressed person.

"Thanks. It is my pleasure to have a beautiful lady like you in my team," Max said, giving a light bow. "My name is Maxwell and I'm just a horse caretaker...or if there is anything you call them. Sorry, I'm illiterate so don't know much about the world."

Well, it was true that he didn't know the language of this world. He had created a new language for the novel, but since he was writing in English, he never explored it. And original Max also didn't have a proper education. He hoped Charlotte could help him with that.

But Charlotte understood something else from his words. Her eyes shone as she thought.

'Maybe he doesn't want to let his regression out so he's saying like this...or maybe he didn't really get a chance to study properly in that timeline. The second one seems better.'

"It's fine. I'm just surprised someone like you used to work in stables," Charlotte smiled. "My name is Charlotte Sinclair, and I don't know if you heard about us, but I'm from the Gold Rank Sinclair Family of Godshine City."

"Holy moly! I succeeded!"
