Chapter 30: Chapter 29: A Conversation With Venom
The sun was starting to set over the park, casting long shadows over the grass. The distant sound of laughter and joyful chatter filled the air as families enjoyed the late afternoon. Children ran across the playground, while parents sat on benches, keeping a watchful eye on them.
Alex stood near a large oak tree, watching as Margaret and James played together. James had climbed onto a swing, his face full of determination as Margaret stood behind him, ready to give him a push.
"Higher, Mom!" James cheered.
Margaret chuckled, pushing him slightly harder.
Alex smiled at the sight. It was... peaceful. A rare moment of normalcy in his chaotic existence.
But, of course, peace never lasted long for him.
A Presence in the Shadows.
Alex felt it before he saw it.
A strange, unnatural presence slithering toward him through the grass.
At first, he assumed it was just his overactive senses, picking up on something mundane. But then he felt it—something cold. Something hungry.
He turned his head slightly and saw it.
A mass of black slime, pulsating and shifting like a living shadow, creeping toward him from beneath the tree's roots.
"What the hell..." Alex muttered, taking a cautious step back.
The slime moved unnaturally, as if it had a mind of its own. It coiled and twisted, extending thin, tendril-like appendages toward him.
Then—it struck.
The tendrils lashed out, latching onto his chest like a parasite.
Alex's eyes widened as he felt an overwhelming pull—something was trying to drain him.
For a brief second, he felt his soul being tugged at, as if this thing was trying to consume his very essence.
But his body reacted before his mind could.
Instead of struggling, his instincts kicked in—and he did the exact opposite of what it expected.
He poured MASSIVE AMOUNTS of Cursed Energy into it.
The effect was immediate.
The black slime convulsed violently, twisting and writhing as if in agony.
For five grueling minutes, Alex kept feeding it, pushing his energy into it like a dam bursting open. He could feel the creature changing, its form shifting, growing stronger—but no longer hostile.
Then, suddenly, it stopped moving.
The black slime began to merge with him.
Then—he heard it.
A Voice in His Mind.
Deep. Smooth. Almost... amused.
"Such an interesting mind... full of memories and imagination."
Alex stiffened. He wasn't hearing this voice through his ears—it was inside his head.
"Not of this world... yet keeps his power in line. Admirable."
Alex narrowed his eyes. "And you are?"
The voice chuckled.
"Tell me, do you enjoy not doing what you can do? All this god-like power, yet so little action?"
Alex smirked. "Of course not. But hey, it'd be boring and a waste to just solve all my problems by turning into a literal god. That'd be kinda lame, don't you think?"
The voice hummed in amusement.
"A rare perspective."
Then, it revealed itself.
"I am Venom."
Alex's eyes widened in realization.
"Venom? As in, the Venom? The one that bonded with Eddie Brock?"
Venom chuckled again.
"So, you do know things beyond this world. Interesting. Yes... I don't know how I got here. I only created my own universe to counteract the Godmind—but then, next thing I know, I'm here, in a new Omniverse."
Alex exhaled slowly.
This was huge.
This wasn't just any Venom. This was the Venom—one that had created an entire universe of symbiotes to resist a higher power.
Venom continued speaking, his tone almost playful.
"You know a lot, stranger. Although your memories of us come from comics, movies, and the like... I have to admit, if it were anyone else, they would be prodding and demanding answers."
Alex smirked. "And you? What are you doing?"
"Probing. But this is more fun than just playing with Eddie."
Then, suddenly, Venom's voice brightened in excitement.
"Ooh, so that's where Anti-Venom ended up!"
Alex scowled. "Oi! Stop digging through my memories!"
Venom chuckled again, clearly enjoying himself.
Alex sighed, shaking his head. He had already read what had happened to Eddie Brock in the Venomverse. It wasn't a pleasant ending.
"Look," Alex said, "I get that you're looking for answers, but don't dig through my head like a kid in a candy store. You can stay for now—until you find a better host."
Venom hummed thoughtfully.
"Maybe that Lobo guy would fit..."
Alex immediately shook his head.
"Definitely not."
Lobo with a Venom symbiote? That was a nightmare waiting to happen.
Back to Normalcy... For Now.
Alex exhaled, forcing himself to focus.
Despite the insane encounter, he had to get back to James and Margaret before they started wondering where he had gone.
Turning back toward the playground, he saw James still on the swings, looking over at him with an expectant gaze.
"Alex! Push me on the swing!"
Alex smirked.
"On my way, kid."
As he walked back toward them, he could still feel Venom's presence inside him—watching, waiting, curious.
Whatever this was, whatever Venom's appearance meant for this Omniverse… it wasn't going to be simple.
But for now?
For now, he was going to push James on the swing.
Because even with all his power, even with everything happening in the background—
These small, human moments were what truly mattered.
