Loving Her Forgotten Mafia

Chapter 2: Chapter-2

JANE

I tried to remove his hands from my face and he did, only to grab my wrists, pinning them onto the door.

I twisted my hands in his grip, trying hard to break free as my heart burnt like a blazing sun. The sheets fell around my feet, leaving me stark naked.

"No. No. I can't live without you. You are the very air I breathe. Don't leave me. We'll talk about it. Please, Give me ten minutes. I'll explain."

My ears were ringing, something was continuously buzzing inside my head, making it difficult to understand anything.

"Baby. Can you hear me?"

All of a sudden, his lips crashed onto mine, and he started kissing me in a desperate attempt to make me come back to my senses.

I could feel something wet on my cheeks as it slid down. He was crying but I couldn't care less. He was my father's killer.

How pathetic am I? I am the worst daughter one could have. I am in love with my father's killer.

I bit his lower lip hard and the metallic taste of blood touched my tongue. He left my lips with a hiss but his hold on me was as tight as ever.

"Don't leave. You remember what you promised last night, right? You'll let me make love to you, even if you are really mad at me. Don't push me away."

I glared at him with pure disdain. I couldn't believe I was in love with this pervert.

"Wow. All you can think of in this situation is fucking me, right?" A sardonic laugh left my lips as he stared at me with wide eyes.

"Way to go, Mr D'Amico. I didn't know you were such a pervert." I scoffed. "But what more can be expected from someone like you? A Mafia." I laughed more. "You people don't have a heart. You can only think with your dick and I was a fool to think from my heart when it came to you. You people don't deserve it. All of you are the same."

"No! No Jane. You are taking it all wrong. I didn't mean it like that. Sorry. I won't touch you until you ask me to. But please, I beg you, hear me out once."

He left my hands and went on his knees in front of me, his hands folded, as he begged me. But I had no plans of staying here any longer or talking to him.

I ran to the bathroom, leaving the sheets on the floor outside and locked the door from inside.

I washed my face in the sink and looked at myself in the mirror. The sight of those marks he gave me made my blood boil this time.

_ _ _

I was finally able to make him let me leave after promising him that I'd hear him out when I was ready. But I knew I'd never be ready.

"Don't assume things without knowing the full story," he said but I didn't bother replying.

I got into the car, wearing only my long coat, heels and nothing underneath. I could feel his gaze on me as I sat inside and the car started rolling. I didn't turn to look at him and give him that satisfaction.

But I owed myself one last look at the man whom I had given my heart and soul to. So, I glanced at the side view mirror and caught a glimpse of him, standing there with a defeated look, slumped shoulders, looking nothing like the mafia lord he was. My chest tightened as he vanished from my sight.

Crying the whole time in the car, I finally arrived at my friend Amber's home. I couldn't go home like this or Mom would know something happened. And I wasn't ready yet to talk to her about it. She didn't even know who I was dating, how could I tell her this additional information about Dad's death?

As soon as I entered, I was reminded about the bachelorette party we were hosting tonight for our friend Sheena.

After making me comfortable and feel at home, Amber and her husband Josh left with their kids while she literally ordered me to get myself together for the party by evening.

_ _ _

We arrived at the Blue Diamond Hotel. It was the private property of the husband of our friend Sofia Anderson. He was also Sheena's biological brother.

We were forced to choose this venue in exchange for our demand for no bodyguards, which he had appointed for all of us as protection against Rosario.

The party was alive as we entered the banquet hall. The bass of the DJ boomed throughout the room, thrumming under my skin like it was a part of me. Guests danced and chatted away happily while enjoying the hors d'oeuvres and drinks that were being offered.

I tried to chat but after a while it felt like a task and I left the group to take a break on a lounge chair by the bar. Holding an elegant glass with a purple colour cocktail drink that was concocted specially for Sheena, the bride-to-be, I stared at nothing in particular.

Sofia and Sheena had to entertain their guests and I didn't want my sour mood to ruin their night.

My gaze went to my phone again and again, secretly waiting for a call or a text or anything, from Dominic. But there was nothing. I guess I wasn't his first priority like he had claimed last night.

Lies

The seat beside me dipped, pulling me away from my thoughts and I turned to see Amber taking a seat beside me.

"You were killing it there. Why did you stop?" I asked, looking ahead at the dance floor.

"Oh come on. You have been zoning out all night. You weren't watching anything."

I smiled sadly.

"Sorry. I am spoiling the party. Aren't I?"

"Shut up and tell me why you broke up. Maybe I can give you an unbiased perspective if you are in a turmoil."

I shook my head a little.

No. You won't. You will be biased. You hate anything remotely related to the mafias, after what Rosario's brother did to you. You'll ask me to forget Dom.

"What? What are you thinking?" she pressed, when she didn't get an answer.

"Nothing."

She was about to speak more when the banquet hall door opened, and five or six men came in, wearing white shirts and black jeans with red suspenders. They had silver and golden masks on.

I frowned.

"Who are they?"

"I don't know. We didn't invite men here." Amber sounded shocked as we stood up from our seats and went to where Sheena and Sofia were, who looked equally shocked.

"Excuse me. Who are you?" Sofia asked them politely.

The other women who were invited were already drooling over these men and a hint of irritation surged through me.

"Good evening, ma'am. We are for a special performance for the bride-to-be," one of them spoke, and the voice sounded eerily familiar, but I couldn't pinpoint where I had heard it.

Maybe it was my mind playing games with me. How would I know these strippers or dancers or whatever they were?

"Sorry Mr, but we didn't invite you. I think you are mistaken," Sofia spoke politely.

"Ma'am…"

Before he could speak more, someone from the crowd chimed in.

"It's okay, girls. If they are already here, we can have some fun, no? It's just for a night. Not a big deal."

The others hummed in agreement.

"Sheena. Please, let them perform," another woman spoke.

Sofia and Sheena tried to protest, but others were too persistent, and they had to give in at last.

"Okay. You can perform. But stay away from us," Sofia said and we nodded in agreement.

"Sure ma'am. But if you change your mind, we can at least indulge the bride-to-be."

"That won't be needed. Thanks. Enjoy, girls," Sheena announced and everyone cheered.

My skin prickled as we walked away and took our seats on the lounge chairs away from the stage, along with Amelia, another friend of Sheena.

"James will go crazy if he sees what's happening here," Sofia said, with a wairy smile.

"Yeah. He is possessive like that. It's cute, isn't it?" Sheena chimed in, taking a sip of the drink.

"You won't know, cute or not. Chris is an angel, after all." Sofia's gaze turned to Amber and me. "Isn't he?" There was a wide grin on her face.

Amber and I laughed softly while Sheena shook her head, and a faint smile played on her lips.

Just then, I felt the skin at the back of my neck prickle. Rubbing my neck, I looked around and my gaze fell on the man from earlier, whose voice sounded familiar, staring right back at me from afar.

"That's right. In our case, I am more likely to be possessive of Chris. He is very secure in his own skin."

"Like brother, like sister," Amber spoke.

I turned my focus to the girls, but a feeling of unease was already creeping up my stomach. I put the glass of cocktail away as suddenly, the sight of it made me want to throw up.

Why is he staring? Do I know him?
