Chapter 100 Golem Dungeon [Part 1]
Xavier's eyes fluttered open, and he stretched his body and sat upright; Mari wasn't on her bed anymore, and Xavier stood up from the bed.
He walked inside the living room, and she still wasn't there; Mari wanted them to go very early, but Xavier was still a little sleepy.
He slept late and woke up some hours later to eat his last meal before going back to sleep.
Xavier heard sounds coming from the bathroom. The door wasn't closed completely because his clothes were hanging there, and Mari was inside wearing her clothes as Xavier opened the door.
"Morning, I didn't know you were awake; I was planning to wake you up when I was done," Mari spoke.
"I just woke up" Xavier replied.
Mari was almost done wearing her clothes when Xavier tossed a cleansing crystal inside the water and took off his underwear before going in. Mari faced away while Xavier went in.
"Is there a clothing shop around, I'll like to buy a thing or two"
"There is, but it's early, so the owner would still be asleep," Mari replied.
"I'm not talking about right now, I need some clothes for the capital later"
"You're going to the capital; I'm also thinking of going to the capital; I just haven't gone because of the golem dungeon; I've gathered tons of crystal from the dungeon," Mari said.
"Crystals?"
"Yes, Mana crystal can be harvested from the dungeon, that's why I haven't told anyone about it yet, if I did the dungeon would be raided and all the crystal would be harvested"
"Oh, how much do you think you can sell the crystal for?" Xavier asked.
"I don't know how much, that's why I'm gathering enough before going to the capital; if we clear the dungeon today, then we can head to the capital tomorrow if you want," Mari spoke.
"Alright, let's move." Xavier exited the bath while Mari went outside; even after what happened between them yesterday, Mari still wasn't able to look at Xavier's naked body.
Both of them exited Mari's house, she brought a bag along with her to put the Mana crystal inside while Xavier held his sword in his hands.
If he took the sword out from his inventory in front of Mari, then he wouldn't be able to explain how he did it since beasts don't do magic no to talk of spatial magic.
Soon, they were in the forest with Mari leading the way till they got to the front of the dungeon, which was covered with leaves and a tree, making it near impossible to know there was a dungeon behind it.
Both of them walked into the darkness but they could see perfectly till they went in deep enough that blue crystal at the top of the dungeon lit it up.
The dungeon was now illuminated enough that they didn't need night vision, and then they came across three paths leading forward.
"We'll run into the first wave here," Mari spoke, and Xavier held his sword well, and soon, just like Mari said, a stone golem emerged from the path.
Xavier and Mari braced themselves as the first golem, a hulking creature of stone and glowing blue veins, emerged from the central path. Its heavy footsteps echoed in the dungeon, the sound bouncing off the crystalline walls.
"It's huge; I've never seen one this huge at the entrance," Mari spoke.
"We'll have to take it down either way"
Xavier gripped his sword tightly while Mari flexed her claws, her fox ears twitching as she focused on the golem.
"I'll take the left flank," Mari said, darting to the side with incredible speed. Her orange tail swished behind her as she moved like a blur.
"Got it. I'll keep its attention," Xavier replied, stepping forward and dashing towards the golem.
He swung his sword in a wide arc, aiming at the golem's midsection. The blade struck with a metallic clang, chipping away a small portion of its stone armor.
The golem groaned and swung its massive arm at Xavier. He dodged, rolling to the side.
While Xavier distracted the golem, Mari leaped onto its back with feline agility. She drove her claws into the stone, finding small cracks to grip onto. With a fierce growl, she slammed her foot into the back of the golem's knee joint. The force caused the creature to stumble to the ground.
"Nice one!" Xavier shouted, capitalizing on the opening. He slashed downward, aiming at the chest and hitting the core, shattering it to pieces. The golem let out a low rumble before crumbling into a pile of rocks.
"One down, how did you know where the core was?" Mari said, landing beside Xavier.
"I just guess I wasn't expecting to hit it," Xavier muttered, glancing ahead. Mari nodded, but he knew exactly where the core was.
The golem wasn't completely covered and had cracks, so he could tell where the core that was holding the entire body was.
"All three paths lead to the same place; let's take the left," Mari said.
They moved to the left path next, the air growing cooler as the blue crystals illuminated their way. Another golem appeared in front of them, this one smaller but faster.
Mari darted forward, feinting left before delivering a powerful kick to its side. The golem staggered, and before it could make a move, Mari shattered the arm.
The severed limb fell with a heavy thud, and Mari finished the creature with a swift blow to the chest that shattered its core.
"You're pretty good at this," Xavier said as he didn't need to move a single step.
"I can take most of the golem on this level" Mari replied with a small smirk, her tail flicking.
The two of them continued forward. This time, two golems emerged, each larger than the previous ones.
"I'll take the one on the right," Mari said, crouching low.
"Got it," Xavier replied, focusing on the left golem; from where he stood, he could already tell where the crystal was, but something came to his head.
The golem on Xavier's side swung its massive arm, forcing him to leap back. He waited for the right moment, then dashed forward, slashing at its legs. His blade connected, causing the golem to buckle and fall to the ground.
Meanwhile, Mari was a whirlwind of motion. She dodged a heavy swing from her golem and retaliated with a flurry of punches and kicks. Her claws left deep gashes in the stone, and with a final spin kick, she cracked the core.
While Mari was fighting Xavier slashed both arms of the golem and pushed the body to the ground placing his hands where the core is
