Chapter 101 Golem Dungeon [Part 2]
[Arcane Siphon]
[+10 Mana]
Xavier chuckled as he saw the information; the golem crystal wasn't good enough to increase his Mana core; it just recovered his Mana.
"Let's keep moving; after about an hour, all the golem we killed will be brought back to life," Mari spoke.
"Do you know the way to the dungeon boss?" Xavier asked.
"No, I don't even know how many levels the dungeon has. It has stairs that lead downward, but I've only gotten to the third level; I don't know how many levels there are?" She replied.
"Alright, what's in the third level?"
"Ice golem"
"Ice golem, are they stronger than these?"
"Much stronger because the third level temperature is freezing, and their sheer number alone is enough to overwhelm a single person, individually they are not that powerful," Mari said.
'If I was alone, I would breeze past that level with Freya's [Fire Storm]. Wait...if golems are made with Mana, I wonder if disrupt magic would work on them,' Xavier mumbled to himself.
Both of them arrived at the steps to the lower level and descended downward; this time, the crystal in the cave was more vibrant than before, giving light to the cave till they got to a large room.
"The golems here are bigger but slow, and their crystal is in their head, but you won't be able to reach so you have to take out their legs first; I'll take the ones to the left," Mari spoke, and they walked into the room.
The golems were already positioned at both sides of the room like statues, but when they stepped further in, the golem began moving towards them.
Xavier tightened his grip on his sword as the two golems on his side began to move.
They were larger than the ones from the previous levels, their heavy bodies cracking the ground with each step.
"Alright, let's see how tough you are," Xavier muttered, infusing his sword with Mana.
The first golem raised its massive arm and brought it down in a crushing motion. Xavier sidestepped just in time, the impact of the blow sending a shockwave through the ground and causing him to stumble slightly.
"Shit..." Xavier spoke as he saw the crater that the golem created with just its hand; a single blow could potentially break his bones.
He recovered quickly and dashed in, aiming a powerful slash at the golem's knee joint. The blade connected, but it only chipped the stone a little.
"Tough bastard," Xavier hissed, jumping back as the other golem swung its arm.
The attack missed, but the sheer force of the swing caused debris to scatter. Xavier circled both of the golems, analyzing their slow but deliberate movements.
He rushed in again, slashing repeatedly at the same spot on the knee. With each strike, the cracks grew wider until the joint finally gave way.
He was just too fast for both of the golem.
The golem's leg crumbled, and it teetered before crashing to one knee. Before Xavier could strike again, the second golem charged at him from the side, forcing him to roll out of the way.
"Guess I can't focus on one at a time," he muttered, panting slightly.
He infused more Mana into his blade. The second golem swung at him with surprising speed, shocking Xavier and forcing him to parry the blow. The impact jarred his arm, nearly causing him to drop his sword.
"Damn it, how the hell did it get fast" he grunted, shaking off the numbness in his hand. The first golem, still kneeling, swung its massive arm at him, forcing him to leap backward again.
Xavier took a deep breath and adjusted his stance, he wasn't taking this seriously while Mari was already done with one of the golem she was facing.
He charged at the second golem, aiming for its leg. His sword connected, slicing into the stone but not deep enough to cripple it.
The golem retaliated with a backhanded swing, Xavier jumped out of the way but the shockwave caught his side and sent him tumbling across the ground.
He groaned, clutching his ribs as he stood. "Alright, no more playing around."
The first golem, now dragging its damaged leg, lumbered toward him. Xavier sprinted toward it, feinting left before darting right. He slashed upward at its other leg, cutting deep enough to destabilize it.
The golem collapsed to the ground, its head level with Xavier now. He didn't waste the opportunity, driving his Mana-infused sword into its crystal. The glow flickered before fading entirely, and the golem crumbled into rubble.
Xavier turned just in time to see the second golem closing in. It swung both arms down in a devastating double strike. Xavier dove between its legs, slashing at one as he passed. The blade carved through the stone, weakening it but not breaking it completely.
The golem stumbled, giving him an opening. He lunged at its knee, driving his sword into the joint and twisting it until the leg gave way.
The golem fell to one knee, and Xavier climbed onto its back; the golem looked around for Xavier, but it was too late.
He plunged his sword into its crystal, putting all his remaining strength into the strike. The crystal shattered, and the golem collapsed.
Xavier rolled off the rubble, breathing heavily. His arms ached, and his ribs throbbed, but a grin spread across his face.
"That was a workout"
He glanced over at Mari, who was still fighting her second golem, and called out, "Need a hand?"
She smirked but didn't answer, too focused on her fight, for Xavier his Mana-infused sword was better than her hands; without Mana, Mari was using her inert strength to shatter the golem's legs before destroying the entire head and shattering the crystal in the process.
"Do before you had to face four of them alone?" Xavier asked.
"Yes, I normally play tag with them and take them down one after the other, after this level I'll be too tired and drained"
"So to the next level"
"We'll collect Mana crystal first; it's in the next room before descending to the third level," Mari replied.
