Chapter 105 Tower of Trials [Part 1]
The other began looking around before one of them spoke.
"Where are we?"
"I was just killed by a fucking sea monster, how did I get here?" Another one spoke.
"You were killed, I was also killed...I was stabbed in the back"
"I was also killed," the elf spoke; she was female.
There were two females, the elf and the winged beastkin, which Xavier didn't know; then the others were males; all of them were young, just like Xavier, except for the dwarf, who didn't look young.
"So all of us here died, how the hell are we here then?"
"Good question," a voice spoke, and they all turned towards the voice, which was a man sitting on a shabby-looking throne.
He had black clothes on, held a small staff, and had a huge smile on his face.
"How are you all here? Well, I'll tell you why, because all of you are full of unrealized potential, and it'll be a waste to just die off like that also the only reason you can see me is because you're dead, I'm the god of death" the voice spoke.
"You're the god of death?"
"Yes, don't look so surprised you're all..." He spoke as he laid eyes on Xavier.
The next moment, he was in front of Xavier; Xavier immediately stumbled back in shock, and an even bigger smile appeared on the face of the god as he appeared on his throne again.
"Alright, time for explaining"
"First, all of you here are dead but you have a chance to return to life after passing a series of trials, you are in the Tower of Trial, if you reach the tenth floor of the tower, I'll use my awesome power to bring you back to life, and I'll give you a grimoire of your choice and you'll be even more powerful than you were before you died"
"Second, before starting each of you would be given a weapon, for a mage you'll get a staff, those would give you a higher chance of surviving at least, each of the floors would be harder than the last, and the final one would be almost impossible, but it's still possible to win"
"Lastly, you can't run out of energy, you can't get hungry, thirsty, or run out of stamina, so you can keep fighting for a day, a month, it doesn't matter, and my tower doesn't obey the natural time, so no matter how long you stay here, you would be going back the same time and day if you pass the tower"
"But of course, there's a catch. Should I tell you the catch or not?" He asked.
Xavier wasn't sure what to make of this, one thing he knew was that he was dead, but at least he didn't experience the gruesome feeling and the pain of it all but he was dead, if this was a Tower of Trial and what the god said about bringing them back is true then he had no choice.
"Tell us the catch"
"Only one person has passed the Tower of Trials since I created it 1 million years ago, and if you die in the tower, your soul is mine and you won't get to the reincarnation cycle to be reincarnated again, but you can back out now and return to face your death, die and be reborn again, your choice"
"Only one person had passed in a million years?" One of them muttered.
"So your plan isn't to revive us, but so we could die here and you can absorb our souls; that's why you selected people with potential," the elf girl spoke.
"Exactly, like I said I'm the god of death, I don't do favors, I have rules and I follow them, that's why I explain everything to perfection, if you still have a question, ask...but you always have the choice to back away"
"I have a question, if we back away and die, then reincarnation, would we have our memories?" The dwarf asked.

"No, you'll be a newborn, you'll know nothing, have nothing, just a random newborn, and you can be reincarnated as any creature, an elf, dwarf, human, beast, anything at all," the god spoke.
"I have a question" Xavier spoke.
"Speak," the god said with a smile as he turned towards Xavier.
"The weapon you would give us, how powerful would it be?" Xavier asked.
"Finally, someone ready to fight for survival, the weapons are forged here in hell, each of them has special abilities, and some have more than one, but mind you, not all the weapons can be controlled so you'll need to choose wisely"
"If we die and our souls are absorbed by you, what happened then?"
"Nothing, you fade into nothingness" He answered.
"How would nothingness feel, would we be tortured or what?"
"Nothing, it'll be like you don't exist, just like death but you can't be reincarnated"
"It's not like we have a choice" One of them spoke.
"You do have a choice; you can back out; it's always welcome, but mind you, I can't just bring anyone here to the Tower of Trials; you have to be at a certain level so it wouldn't be unfair, Do you have any more questions?"
The ten of them looked at themselves, trying to weigh the options. No one wanted to die, and if their souls were absorbed, it was still death, so why not fight to survive?
'What the hell did I get myself into, and why did he check me out earlier? He's a god, so I'm sure he knows I am the champion of the goddess of lust,' Xavier muttered in his head.
He didn't have much of a choice; he had no idea if he would survive the tower, but if he went back, his death was already assured, and imagine the pain he would feel as his body turned into mush.
"So Here's the question, are you ready to face the Tower of Trials?"
