Chapter 161 Final Battle [Part 4]
[Miasima – Dark Barrier]
A dark mist covered his entire body as the Cerberus bit down, but its fangs couldn't get through.
Xavier could barely see the black mist that surrounded him.
For a moment, he thought it was over.
But he wasn't dead. The mist had wrapped around his whole body, stopping the Cerberus's fangs from breaking through.
The beast growled, confused, and backed away, looking at the black mist that covered Xavier. The Cerberus used its claws to swipe at it, but it also did nothing.
'The mist that saved me from the Hydra...so it finally appeared again, the regeneration spell is so fucking slow, maybe I've run out of Mana, I can't move my hands or cast any spells'
'The Cerberus is going to use flames and the mist doesn't do well with flames, shit... I'm still going to die' Xavier mumbled in his head, but the next moment was different.
Xavier felt a sudden rush inside him, his Mana was coming back, his Mana core was filling up.
The mist was replenishing his Mana, but the Mana coming in from the mist was his, meaning all this while it was slowly draining his Mana to keep itself alive.
That was the only reason the mist came towards him because he killed the knight in the dungeon and the mist had to find a new host or die.
But right now it didn't matter as his wounds were healing faster, the pain was slowly fading, but even with that, he had lost too much blood. Xavier could now move his hands, and he cast a spell.
[Arcane Siphon]
The Cerberus was still trying to attack the mist with its claws and fangs, but to no avail.
Xavier's breathing steadied, and strength returned to his legs. Then he sat up, still inside the mist, and he was still absorbing Mana, and now he could feel the mist also absorbing the Mana it gave Xavier back.
Xavier stretched his hands, and the mist came towards his hands, unlike before, when he had no control. Now, it felt like he had control, but he couldn't slack off, as the Cerberus was still trying.
The Cerberus had had enough as it stepped back, and then both of the heads opened their mouths and flames poured out, but Xavier was already on his feet, and before the flame came, he covered his entire body with Mana and cast a simple barrier in front of the mist.
As soon as the flame came, the mist was sucked back into Xavier's body, and he dashed away immediately before the barrier cracked and was destroyed.
The Cerberus sensed Xavier and immediately stopped turning towards him but Xavier didn't stop as he dashed towards his sword.
The sword was some distance away, and Xavier couldn't muster the speed he could previously; it was like all his stats were cut down by half from the blood loss.
The Cerberus saw this and charged towards him with the same breathtaking speed, even though the frenzy was over it was still just as fast and powerful.
Xavier stretched his hands towards the sword, and the mist came out again, just a tiny line moving towards the sword, and in an instant, it grabbed the sword and returned to Xavier.
The Cerberus caught up to him and swung its claws from above. Immediately, Xavier raised his hands, and the mist blocked it, giving him time to move away.
The Cerberus continued trying to attack Xavier but the mist was quick enough to block the attacks as if reading Xavier's mind.
Still, Xavier couldn't do anything other than block the Cerberus attacks, and it hadn't figured out that flames were the mist's weakness, as it was still trying to attack with its claws.
'Fighting to the end, are we?' A voice spoke in Xavier's head, a familiar voice, it was Kaan, the blood demon, in his sword.
'So you're still there, what made you start a conversation?' Xavier asked.
'At first I thought you were strong, but now I think you have luck on your side, maybe you have what it takes to see this through,' Kaan replied.
'Really, thanks for your vote of confidence, it means nothing' Xavier answered as he focused on the Cerberus in front of him.
'You're struggling to hold yourself up, you're trying really hard too but it seems you forgot my name, I'm Kaan the blood demon, and for a small price I can make you whole again'
'A small price, a demon telling me a small price, and what price is that?' Xavier asked, even though he was trying not to; he was desperate. If the Cerberus decided to use its flames, it was game over for Xavier.
'When the fight is done, take me with you to the human world, I won't be able to take over your body so use me as your sword to kill your enemies, I Kaan, am at your service'
'That's your request, I take you back to the human world so you can kill my enemies and feed on their blood' Xavier muttered.
It wasn't even a price; it was nothing to Xavier. The sword was also more powerful than any he would find in the living world, so it was a win, but he knew there was something else, but for now, it didn't matter.
'Fine, I accept on the condition that no matter what happens, you can't take over my body, no matter what happens' Xavier replied.
'It's a deal'
Xavier let out a shaky breath as the Cerberus stopped attacking, it was getting nowhere, so backed away and watched Xavier.
But then, a sharp pain shot through his whole body, so sudden it made him jolt. His legs moved on their own, forcing him to the ground, and he used his hands to balance himself, or he would fall completely.
The Cerberus lunged instantly taking advantage of whatever was happening to Xavier.
But its claws sliced through the air where he had been a second ago.
Xavier stumbled to the side, dodging the blow completely, his speed was back, his vision spot on and his focus sharper than before.
