Chapter 160 Final Battle [Part 3]
Xavier knew if he stopped, he wouldn't survive, but he couldn't continue running around; the monster behind him wouldn't get tired, and neither would he, but it wouldn't get him anywhere.
For him to win he had to defeat the Cerberus.
'After the next attack,' Xavier muttered, still dashing forward while the beast chased after him, and the attack came as it swung its claws to get Xavier, but he was still just ahead, and the claw caught the air.
The next moment, Xavier turned around and stopped his [Wind Stride], bringing him to the ground; the Cerberus also stopped staring at Xavier.
Xavier was breathing heavily as he held his sword, the only thing passing through his mind now was...don't die.
The Cerberus slammed its claws into the ground, each step shaking the floor. The two of its heads snapped and growled, drool dripping onto the stones.
The right head's eyes burned red with frenzy, while the middle stared into his soul.
Xavier tightened his grip on his sword. His chest rose and fell fast. There was no running now; he had to face this head-on.
The beast lunged forward at breathtaking speed.
He dodged right, kicking off the floor, but soon a claw tore across his shoulder, cutting through his flesh like paper.
Heat and pain shot through his arm but Xavier couldn't shout as he gritted his teeth and swung.
The blade cut across one of its legs, but the Cerberus barely flinched but Xavier wasn't done as he dashed towards the second leg.
But the tail snapped at him. He blocked with his sword, the force sending him sliding back and his hands ached from the impact.
His Regeneration was already working on his body, but Xavier was losing too much blood; if it continued like this, then he wouldn't survive.
The Cerberus roared, the sound echoing through the huge dungeon as its claws slashed down.
Xavier rolled to the side, the ground cracking where he had stood.
Another swipe came from the other paw.
He ducked under it, the wind from the strike brushing his hair.
The Cerberus didn't stop.
It swung multiple times, each strike faster than the last, but each one missing him by inches as he dodged with all the speed he could muster.
Xavier's breath grew heavy, his boots sliding on the stone floor as he dodged left and right, he couldn't even counter or swing his sword.
A paw slammed in front of him, blocking his path as the Cerberus was trying to cage him.
Before he could move, the middle head lunged, but he dodged both heads once again. He had Mana covering his body to protect him from the flames, but it was still too hot.
The Cerberus lunged again.
This time Xavier timed his dodge so well that he was in between the middle head and the right one, and then he slashed upward, catching the right head across the jaw.
Blood sprayed as Xavier jumped backwards while the beast reeled back, but it only made the frenzy worse.
Both of the heads attacked at once, forcing Xavier to block, dodge, and stumble backward.
The middle head roared, the sound rattling in Xavier's bones then the Cerberus struck down with its claws, aiming to tear him apart.
His shoulder had almost healed, and his legs hadn't taken any damage, so he could dodge.
As the claws swept down from above, he sidestepped, feeling the rush of air as they missed him by inches but the Cerberus wasn't done.
The second claw came from the other side, wild and reckless. Xavier moved to dodge again, but it was too fast.
With no time to think, he leapt into the air but it was already too late.
The claws slammed into his side, tearing through skin and muscle as they pierced him.
'Shit!!!'
Pain exploded through him as he screamed. Soon, he couldn't let out a word as the pain stole his breath.
The Cerberus lifted him with ease, shaking him like a rag doll before tossing him to the ground.
His sword clattered across the stone floor, sliding far away from his reach.
The world tilted and swayed in his vision before he landed on the ground with dark spots at the edges.
Xavier couldn't move; he had no idea what the claws had damaged inside his body, but he was sure it was bad.
Even though his healing spell was [Self Regeneration] and would be able to heal his internal injury, he had lost and was still losing too much blood.
He could feel his vision getting blurry, and he knew soon he was going to pass out, and if he did, then it was game over for him.
Xavier was forcing himself to stand up but his body refused his orders as he remained on the ground.
The Cerberus knew it had won as it slowly walked towards where Xavier was and stood in front of him, Xavier could see both of the heads looking down at him
Then… the next moment the flame around the body of the Cerberus faded.
The beast froze. Its heads shook, almost confused. The middle one lowered, its breath still harsh but Xavier couldn't feel the heat he was feeling just now.
The frenzy had ended.
But it didn't walk away.
It stood over Xavier, growling low, teeth bared.
He could feel the warm breath of the middle head on his face but there was nothing he could do.
His Regeneration spell was taking too long to heal him as he had an opening in his stomach and the side of his stomach from the claw, and at this rate, it was already over for him.
'Stand...shit stand, fucking stand on your feet' Xavier screamed at himself.
The middle head opened its mouth and reached down, the tongue licked and pushed Xavier's body upward, and as he couldn't stand, his body rested on the tongue.
The Cerberus wasn't just going to kill him, it wanted to divide his body into two parts for both of its heads.
With his vision fading, Xavier still didn't accept his fate; he was still trying to move until its jaws clamped down on him.
