Chapter 159 Final Battle [Part 2]
The clash of heat and cold exploded in thick smoke, exactly what Xavier needed, and he also had to be fast because the Hydra was made of Ice and wouldn't be able to compete with the Cerberus.
He vanished into the smoke and dashed far to the right away from both of them.
[Frost Reflection]
[Frost Reflection]
A copy of the dwarf and a copy of the Harpy appeared beside him, the dwarf was complete with armor and its hammer.
"You know what to do," Xavier whispered as his thoughts had already flowed into the clones. The dwarf nodded before disappearing into the shadows and behind him was the Harpy.
The plan was the same, the dwarf readied its weapon, then the Harpy dropped the dwarf from above, hitting the Cerberus with enough force to kill a dragon, then Xavier would rush in and finish the job, cutting off all three heads.
Now it was just him again, hidden in the smoke, sword ready, watching the Cerberus.
He could hear the sounds of the Hydra and the beast clashing, growls and crashes shaking the floor. Xavier didn't rush in yet. He was watching for an opening.
The Hydra was surprisingly standing its ground due to the fact that the ice from all seven of its heads poured out was much more than the flames the Cerberus countered with, so it was keeping it at bay.
If the dwarf finished the weapon in time… he'd only get one shot at this.
And he wasn't planning to miss.
The smoke was getting thicker now, swirling in waves from the clash of ice and flame. The Hydra would soon run out of Mana, and the dwarf's weapon would soon be ready.
The next moment it happened, the loud sounds of ice stopped, and only the Cerberus flames were visible as it melted the Hydra's entire body, but Xavier was already set.
[Wind Stride]
Xavier dashed low through the smoke, his body blurring as he weaved through the smoke.
The heat in the air stung his skin, but he kept moving, eyes locked on the faint shadow of the three-headed monster in front of him.
He already knew the dwarf was ready and in position. Xavier knew this was the best chance he had to win; he had to keep the fight quick and use everything he had to win.
Even though it seemed easy, it was just because he was stronger now.
The dwarf clone was already in position, high above clinging onto the harpy. The hammer glowed slightly, charged with the force Xavier had seen with his own eyes.
Xavier's grip tightened on his sword.
The Cerberus roared again, all its heads at once, creating a massive wind that pushed the smoke around it away, but Xavier already got the opening he needed.
The harpy clone let go and in one swift drop, the dwarf fell like a boulder, spinning the hammer in both hands.
From the height the dwarf fell from, the momentum already carried force on its own, but the weapon was the highlight of this move.
*BOOOOMM!!*
The hammer smashed down on the Cerberus's back. Bone cracked, and the beast staggered, all its legs buckling as it went to the ground, the dwarf clone, along with the hammer, disintegrated after the impact.
But Xavier was already there as he burst forward out of the smoke.
[Wind Stride]
[War Buff]
Mana surged through his body, increasing his already increased stats. He was at the same level as the Cerberus head, twisting in the air, his sword glowing a little bright crimson as he sits himself a little so his sword could taste blood.
Everything was as he wanted and he went for the kiss. He aimed for the neck of the left head, as that was the side he came from; he was planning to cut all three before the beast could recover, and this was the first.
Time seemed to slow as he was in position. He could see the center head turning, the red eyes narrowing but it was too late.
[Triple Strike]
His blade sliced clean through the thick neck of the Cerberus.
*SHHHT!*
The head fell, crashing into the ground with a heavy thud. Xavier wasted no time as he stepped forward again to cut the middle one, but something went wrong.
For one heartbeat, everything went still.
Then the Cerberus erupted.
*BOOM!*
Its fur burst into flames, burning so hot the air warped around it. Xavier had to block with his hands as the initial burst knocked him away from the beast and crashed him into the ground.
The remaining two heads let out a roar so loud that Xavier's bones shook as he stood up For some reason, there was something at the back of his head telling him to run.
The monster in front of him was different now, with one head gone, its body covered with flames; it wasn't the same monster he had seen earlier.
The beast finally turned towards him, and just like that, it was already in front of him.
The right head snapped at him, and Xavier twisted just in time so that he wasn't cut in half, but the heat touched his side, burning him.
"Shit!" Xavier groaned but he couldn't stop.
He hit the ground and rolled, just as the Cerberus lunged again, claws tearing deep lines into the stone where he'd been.
It was faster now, much faster. The flames on its body spread like a living thing, leaving molten scorch marks with every step.
Xavier's Regeneration kicked in, and he didn't try to fight. He did the best thing at that moment, he turned and ran.
[Wind Stride]
The monster gave chase, fire spitting from both mouths, smashing through walls of stone like paper.
Xavier's [War Buff] and [Wind Stride], coupled with his agility, made him just able to dodge the Cerberus, but it felt like it was slowly getting closer.
The air was blistering. His lungs burned with every breath he took.
The sound of claws pounding behind him was deafening.
One mistake now… and he'd be ash.
