Chapter 166 Howling Star
The dragon screamed, her body thrown back as blood splattered across the floor, it was this powerful because of Sylve's staff.
"Human!" she spat, her voice echoing. "You dare..."
But Xavier didn't let her finish as he stretched the staff forward again, and this time to her second shoulder, hitting it with deadly precision.
The dragon finally collapsed on the ground, and Xavier dropped down next to the dragon close to the tail. Xavier could feel it; dragons were monsters of Mana.
He raised his hand, touching the dragon's tail and then activating [Arcane Siphon].
Xavier could pull Mana in the air after Sylve used the technique on him, but he hadn't tried it on someone else. During that time, he was briefly able to draw Sylve's Mana, so it should work.
Xavier felt it immediately; it felt like he was holding the largest crystal ever, and then he began pulling the Mana straight out of her body.
The dragon, which was trying to stand up, gasped, stumbling weakly as her power drained into him.
"Stop…!" she cried, but her knees buckled.
Xavier's eyes glowed faintly; the Mana he absorbed was too much for his own Mana core, and he stopped to avoid damaging it. His body felt stronger and most especially, the Mana flowing in his body was different.
He didn't waste time. [War Buff] activated, boosting his strength further.
The dragon finally stood on her feet. It was evident she was even weaker because of the Mana Xavier had drawn; she couldn't activate her frenzy, and Xavier struck.
His speed surged, and in a blur, he appeared in front of her again. His sword cut across her chest, deep and brutal, causing her to stagger backwards.
She coughed, blood spilling from her mouth, but her eyes still burned with hatred; she still couldn't believe a single human could do this to her, and then she turned towards the god.
The god of death stared at her with a look in his face, he wanted the dragon to win, but he also couldn't help or do anything about it, and she was losing miserably.
She tried to get up, flames sparking again, but Xavier lifted his hand and whispered [Firestorm].
The amount of Mana Xavier infused made the air explode.
Flame rained down from above, not hers, but his. The flames engulfed her, burning her body as she screamed in rage.
Even though she was a flame dragon she could still be burnt without her frenzy.
She swung her claws blindly, but Xavier stepped forward calmly as she struggled, and he activated his [Wind Stride], kicking the air and moving upward till he was just above her.
"Fall," he muttered as he came down.
His sword came down, slamming into her side with so much force the ground cracked beneath them.
The dragon let out one last cry before collapsing, smoke rising from her burned and bleeding body.
Xavier stood over her, his chest rising and falling, but his expression calm. He wasn't tired—he had controlled the entire fight from start to finish.
The god of death's voice echoed from his throne, deep and amused.
"Well… it seems the human wins again."
'I've gotten really powerful' Xavier muttered to himself.
Even without the sword, he was still so much more powerful, coupled with Sylve's staff which he had at his disposal, and now the last piece in the puzzle was done.
The god of death snapped his fingers once again and the dragon appeared back, this time in human form.
She turned towards Xavier, and he could feel the rage in her eyes; she couldn't even touch him throughout the battle.
The next moment a bright red collar formed on her neck as the god of death spoke.
"Since you agreed to it, you'll forever be bound to Xavier as his slave, you can't harm him in any way and you'll obey any of his commands regardless of your will, but he has the option to release you at any point in time"
Xavier held his head as the knowledge on how to remove the spell binding both of them flowed into his brain.
"Before you send me back, do you know which way it is to the human kingdom?" Xavier asked and a map appeared in his hands.
"You were able to escape me twice, good luck on your adventures," the god spoke, snapping his fingers again, and Xavier and the dragon disappeared.
"So I did your champion a lot of favors, I expect you'll pay me back in full" the god of death spoke with a smile on his face.

Xavier opened his eyes, and he was back in the crystal dungeon in front of the 8 paths. Mari was still harvesting crystals, and Xavier wasn't ready to go into any of the other paths. He turned around to see the dragon behind him, in human form.
"So do you have a name?" Xavier asked.
"Howling Star" She replied.
"Your name is Howling Star?" Xavier was a little surprised, but he knew nothing about dragon names, so he couldn't complain.
"Yes, I was given the name because I could breathe golden flame" She replied.
"You can breathe golden flame? Why haven't you been doing that all this time?" Xavier asked.
"That was back when I was growing up, when my regular flame wasn't strong enough. Now my regular flame can melt anything, so it's inefficient to waste energy and Mana," She replied.
'I think that's the special ability Mari was telling me all dragons have, nice'
"Are you talking like this because of the collar? I give you permission to speak freely. Also, you don't have to answer my question if you don't want to, unless of course I command you," Xavier spoke.
"You wretched human, how the hell are you that powerful? A human can't be that powerful in that short amount of time," She spat.
"The first time you were stronger, if I had met you one-on-one, I would have definitely lost the fight, but that is just my ability. Also, you have nothing to worry about because when I'm done, you'll be free to go," Xavier replied.
Both of them heard footsteps coming from the first path and turned towards it, and Xavier saw that it was Mari, and a smile formed on his face, but the look on her face was different.
"Humans!" She muttered.
