Mage Legend

Chapter 442: Travel and Travel Beyond Chapter Twenty-Three Out of Control_3

The elf looked at the mage with some concern, not understanding what he was saying. However, Caidi still had his own mission: "Mr. Lynch, about fifty Elf Clan archers are awaiting your command, all members of the Moon Hand Guard. Where should we go now?"

Lynch's heart immediately began to beat violently, the nervous blood rushing to his head. Although he had once told the Elf Queen his plan to ambush the undead army at a critical point, he hadn't mentioned the Residual Star Swamp for secrecy. Disappearing for four days resulted in missing the last high-level elf meeting. The Elf Queen left the Moon Hand Guard, perhaps also waiting for the mage's return, hoping these elite warriors could help him in the ambush battle, or at least hold out until the main force arrived. Her Majesty couldn't leave too many people either, as the undead army was incredibly formidable, and she needed manpower to protect many villages. Equipped with the modified arrows provided by Lynch, the elf shooters could disperse undead at a distance like priests with holy water, but the actual effect still needed to be tested in battle.

Lynch considered the fifty elves before him. With this elite force, the battle in the Residual Star Swamp shouldn't be a problem. These masters, who could fight ten men each, coupled with his own spells and the traps set, should definitely be able to wear down the enemy there.

"Alright, prepare to set off immediately and follow me," Lynch said. "I hope the swift legs of the Elf Rangers truly live up to their reputation."

Hearing he had a task, Caidi immediately became excited. They had always been called Heather's strongest team but never had the chance to showcase their strength. Now a battle was before them, and though it was a bit disappointing to be led by a human, the call to arms would excite even the graceful Elf Poet completely.

"Though I don't know what stories of rangers you've heard of," he said, "we won't let you down!"

Caidi finished speaking and instantly turned, disappearing among the leaves. His agile figure made a few leaps on the white branches before vanishing. Lynch knew he was gathering the team. Soon, the most elite force would appear before him.

But at that moment, a strong sense of unease struck the mage. The progress of the war was becoming more bizarre, gradually drifting out of Lynch's control. The mysterious time lapse was like a hole in a barrel's bottom, causing the confidence that had once filled it to leak out slowly. Lynch's hand, gripping the magic wand, trembled slightly, and his brows knitted tighter.

"Isn't setting a trap too risky?" he murmured to himself. "Was I too confident back then?"

"Brother Lynch, what are you saying?" Soka poked his head from behind the curtain. "Sister Yilinrui said there's a war, and I shouldn't leave the house."

"Where did she go?" Lynch asked. "Just stay in there safely."

"I don't know, she left a few days ago, probably not long after you did," Soka said, tilting his head. "I've been diligently practicing archery these days, never slacking off!"

"Of course, you're the best behaved," Lynch said with a frown, finishing his sentence.

No sooner had he spoken than a strong sense of crisis suddenly enveloped the mage. The Eye of Insight would always alert Lynch this way when someone invisible or stealthy approached. He scanned the surroundings, and a sight he most wished to avoid appeared before him.

"Zilvra!" the mage exclaimed, speeding up as he rushed forward.

The Drow was covered in scars, her exquisite chain armor tattered. The elf's equipment would repel Zilvra's lineage, and what she wore now was still the altered but magically ineffective Dark Elf Armor. The wounds on Zilvra had turned blue-purple, coagulated into many blood clots. It seemed to be either cursed power or poison applied to the weapon.

"Soka, come quickly!" Lynch embraced the staggering Zilvra and removed the Invisibility Stone from her hand. This way, even those without the Eye of Insight could see the Drow's figure.

"Lynch, I... finally returned. By the seaside, at a place called Unicorn Bay, Fish... Fishmen are attacking. There are so many of them," Zilvra weakly said. "Their arrows are so dense... I couldn't... block them all."

Seeing Zilvra's state, Soka cried while using all her strength to perform healing magic. Wherever the gentle white light passed, the blue-purple color gradually faded. Although the wounds remained, and the lost blood couldn't be replenished immediately, the injuries could at least stabilize.

"Lynch, I can't help... you for now," Zilvra's eyelids gradually closed. "Such wounds will certainly make... me faint."

After speaking, she slumped into Lynch's arms.

"Take good care of Zilvra!" the mage told Soka. "Even if she wakes, don't let her go anywhere!"

Soka wiped her tears and nodded vigorously. She knew Lynch's tone meant the situation was absolutely urgent. She pulled Zilvra with all her strength and dragged her into the room. Lynch didn't help because Caidi returned with a few elves at that moment.

"Ah! What happened?" an elf said. "How did she get wounded? Should I get a priest?"

"No need, her wounds have been treated," Lynch said with a serious expression, fixing his gaze on Caidi's eyes. "The current situation is extremely urgent, and you must listen carefully to what I say."

The Elf Guard Captain had never seen the mage in this state. Usually, this human had a smile on his face, appearing very relaxed. It seemed that at the coming of war, he too would become as serious as we Elf Warriors.

"A large number of Fishmen are attacking Unicorn Bay. They, along with the undead, are forming a pincer attack on the elves," the mage said. "Now, your mission is to intercept those monsters, delaying their advance as much as possible."

"What?" Caidi shouted in surprise, but then quickly calmed down. His mind quickly calculated the terrain around Unicorn Bay, marking each suitable site for interception.

"Remember, don't act recklessly," Lynch did not know the scale of the Fishmen's attack there. "If necessary, make sure to let reinforcements through."

"And what about you?" the Elf Warrior evidently noticed a flaw in the plan. Based on Lynch's tone, the mage did not seem to be part of this battle. Though upon recalling that the mage before him was not an elf but merely a human, he immediately said decisively: "Don't worry, I will absolutely complete this task!"

With that, several elves immediately turned and left, without even waving goodbye.

Lynch wasn't concerned about Caidi's misunderstanding. He loosened his neck and flexed his fingers as if strumming a harp, maintaining them in the most flexible state.

"Let me handle the enemy in the Residual Star Swamp," Lynch thought, nodding with determination. "It's just right to see how much I've truly improved."

After calculating his remaining spell power, he pulled out his final Flying Scroll from his pocket. "If it weren't for those extra investigations, I wouldn't be in such a dire situation. It seems I'll have to walk back no matter what."

"Where are you going, Mr. Mage? Don't think you can leave so easily," came a voice from behind him.
