Mage Legend

Chapter 482: Travel and Non-Travel Travel Chapter Thirty-Five Knight_2

Although Lynch was not very proficient in Charm Spells, the language of a Mage inherently has an effect akin to a Magic Spell. Macken the Knight's thoughts completely followed Lynch's words as he began to attempt to recall the glorious past he once had.

"Pick up this sword and swing it with force," Lynch said. "Even if you can no longer serve the Paladin team, you must remain loyal to yourself. Now, swing it, and you will regain your past strength."

After speaking, Lynch held up the sword in front of Macken with his left hand (only with his left hand could Lynch manage to lift this weapon). Macken, as if hypnotized, gripped the sword hilt tightly with his fingers and then slowly stood up.

The great sword traced a circle in the air, and the rust on it fell away like snowflakes. Macken howled at the sky, but due to exerting too much effort, no sound came from his throat.

Then, as if he suddenly awoke, he looked at Lynch with confusion, "Did you cast a Spell on me?"

The Mage smiled and said, "No, I was just chatting with you. It was your heart that cast a Spell on yourself." Lynch also stood up, shaking off the rust that clung to his robe. "So, what have you decided to do now?"

"I don't know." Macken's eyes suddenly dimmed again as he said, "If I have any hope left, it is to drive all the Half-Beastmen of the divine Pate back to their homeland, but now I am all alone, how could I possibly fulfill this wish?"

Lynch glanced at the Necroman Magic Pearl atop his staff; if the battle-hardened Knight Macken were to command a future undead army, it would surely have immense power. The only issue was that Macken had been a Paladin all his life, and would never agree to such a request, so Lynch had to give up. But now, he must set a goal for the old man in front of him, or this legendary tree would eventually fall.

"Sir Macken, I have a request," Lynch immediately had an idea, "Soon, we will set off northwards, possibly traveling far, and we urgently need a guide. I don't easily trust others, but having spent so long in the north, I trust you."

Knight Macken bowed his head; he clearly heard the Mage's words but did not respond for a long while. Finally, he raised his head, his white long beard fluttering in the wind, "No matter what, I want my burial place to be in the north. Since there's this opportunity, I will return."

"That's wonderful," Lynch quickly extended his hand, clasping the old but still strong and calloused hand of Macken. "Let's settle it this way, now let's get ready together."

Having spoken, Lynch gestured for Uncle Barrel Bob to lead the way. At this market, aside from the family sword of Knight Macken, there was nothing else Lynch found appealing in terms of Magic Items. Now he hoped to find good materials in the local weapon shops to craft a Magic Thin Sword for Zilvra himself.

Of course, he also needed to buy an appropriately sized bow for little Soka. Lynch would not neglect the little angel's studies.

Bob couldn't understand why the guest in front of him would choose such an old man to act as a "bodyguard," but seeing Macken after he donned new armor, he too was amazed by the drastic change. The former Dragon Slayer, having regained his confidence, now appeared full of spirit, exuding a leadership aura that dismissed all challengers. The previous trace of distress buried in his brow had now transformed into a compassionate expression. If Uncle Barrel were to judge now, Knight Macken seemed more like the leader of this party, while the ever-quiet Lynch became a follower, a scribe.

However, this was precisely what Lynch wanted to achieve. Concealment of one's form doesn't always require darkness; infinite brilliance can achieve the same effect.

Zilvra had no particular opinion about the newly joined old man since the person did not interfere with her life. However, when Macken found her a well-crafted thin sword with his keen eye, she finally felt a slight appreciation for the Knight.

"Lynch, don't forget to enchant this sword with Magic," Zilvra said, handing the item to the Mage. "It should be at least better than the previous one."

Lynch had just acquired new Magic Scrolls and needed good materials to experiment with transforming them into Magic Items, so he naturally wouldn't refuse such a task. Additionally, he also undertook to transform various items Soka had into Magic Equipment.
