Magus Supremacy

Chapter 317: I hate my life!

Just moments earlier…

Charlotte and Dante were seated in front of a magical holographic display, watching the chaos erupt in the arena above. The enchanted projection shimmered with energy, revealing every battle and every detail with crystal clarity.

They had been casually analyzing the matches, quietly impressed by the sheer strength of the younger students.

Yet Dante, distracted, couldn't stop sneaking glances at Charlotte. The glint in her violet eyes, the subtle rise and fall of her voice as she commented on the battles—it captivated him.

'I know I should be focused on the tournament,' Dante thought, 'but I'd give up every title just to be with her.'

Charlotte continued speaking, animated and passionate, her hands gesturing subtly as she commented on the fights with insight and elegance.

'She looks even more beautiful when she talks like this. Like a queen narrating the battlefield,' Dante mused.

Then came the match between Dave and Vince.

It started off intense—Vince landed a few solid blows, shocking both upperclassmen. They knew Dave, and they knew that success against him always came with consequences.

And they were right.

Dave snapped.

Unleashing his fury, he unleashed Magus Dominion, one of the most destructive techniques in his arsenal.

"That can't be good," Charlotte murmured.

Dante watched in disbelief as Grey arrived like a force of nature, intercepting the attack and confronting Dave head-on.

The clash between the two roared like a thunderstorm. Even though Dave was in his strongest form, Grey tore through everything with calm, devastating ease.

"Is it just me, or is Grey actually… toying with him?" Dante asked, a lump in his throat.

Charlotte nodded. "He's evolving faster than any of us anticipated. If he keeps this up... he might surpass the principal one day."

"And now that he's revealed all his affinities…" Dante added, "What will the emperor or the principal do?"

Charlotte sighed deeply, fingers brushing her forehead. "I don't know. But whatever happens, things are changing—fast."

Grey delivered the final crushing blow to Dave, prepared to end it, until—

Suddenly, without warning, a swirling portal tore open behind him, and a massive beast exploded into the arena, sending Grey flying.

"What the hell?!" Charlotte shouted as she leapt from her seat, eyes wide.

More portals opened, a dozen of them, releasing waves of monstrous creatures into the chaos.

Then—darkness.

The magical feed cut out abruptly.

"Was… was that a portal break?" Dante asked, fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.

"I think so," Charlotte replied, already moving toward the towering metal doors. Pressing her ear to the gate, she strained to hear anything.

Nothing.

"It's enchanted. Soundproof," Dante muttered, twirling his fingers in frustration. "It's the work of a high-tier mage. We're shut in."

Charlotte's brows furrowed. "Something's going horribly wrong up there. I can feel it in my bones. I can't just sit here doing nothing!"

Her hair began to rise, floating slightly as a powerful aura radiated from her body. The air crackled around her with watery pressure, as though the ocean itself was about to respond.

Above them…

One of the ogres, previously frozen like a statue, suddenly lunged forward with terrifying speed toward Dave's unconscious body.

"NO!" Amir's voice thundered as he flung out his hand instinctively, as if willing the monster to stop.

But before the ogre could strike—

"Water Creation Magic: Leviathan!"

Charlotte's voice bellowed from beneath the arena like a divine proclamation.

In an instant, the massive gates on the third-year students' side exploded outward with a deafening BOOM, the sheer force sending the gate flying like a giant projectile.

It slammed into the charging ogre mid-stride, launching it backward and smashing its body into the wall where it lay motionless beneath twisted iron.

Amir halted, his eyes widening as Charlotte and Dante stepped into the arena, bathed in dust and magical energy.

He smiled.

"You two! Get Grey and Dave out of here—NOW!"

Charlotte scanned the chaos, nodding. "Grab Dave. I'll get Grey."

She sprinted forward—only for the skies to glow green.

Acidic goo, launched by the hawk-like beasts above, began raining down.

"Shit!" Dante cursed, slamming his palm to the ground.

A massive earth dome erupted around them, covering Grey, Dave, Charlotte, and himself in six protective layers. The acidic downpour hissed as it landed, melting each layer—one by one.

First layer gone.

Second.

Third.

By the time the acid chewed through the fifth layer, the attack weakened—then stopped.

A burst of lightning from above shattered the sky. The hawk beasts dropped from the air like burning meteors, lifeless.

"We're clear," Charlotte muttered, glancing at Dante.

He was crouched low, hands trembling as he maintained the earth dome.

"I hate my life," Dante panted, dispelling the dome with a grunt.

But just as the barrier fell, an ogre appeared in front of them, hammer raised, roaring.

Reacting fast, Dante snapped his fingers. A jagged earth pillar launched upward, smashing into the ogre's midsection and sending it flying several feet.

"I don't think they'll let us leave in peace," Dante groaned.

"You think?" Charlotte fired back, sarcasm dripping from her voice.

In front of her, an ogre with a towering blade approached. Water spiraled tightly around her fingers, forming sharp, glowing streams—dangerous, beautiful, deadly.

Meanwhile, Amir found himself surrounded by ten ogres. He spared a quick glance toward Charlotte and Dante—Grey and Dave still lay unmoving, vulnerable.

"Damn it all," Amir muttered.

A sudden whoosh sounded from his left. An ogre's hammer hurtled toward him, and he leapt back just in time. His counterattack—a razor-sharp metal spear—was effortlessly swatted away.

All ten ogres charged at once, their roars shaking the very ground.

Amir closed his eyes briefly, inhaled… then two metal swords appeared in his hands. He bolted forward, the air behind him warping from his speed.

Steel met flesh. Sparks danced. Roars echoed.

Around him, students and warriors clashed with monstrous beasts. The arena had turned into a battlefield of blood and fury.

And at the heart of it all, Grey and Dave remained unconscious… while the true threat had yet to reveal itself.
