Magus Supremacy

Chapter 452: A Message! (1)

"Here we are." Grey announced as the duo stepped into the cave where he had first been teleported, the place where he had met Thalos and nearly died by the gargoyle's hands.

"Took you long enough to locate it." Thalos scoffed. Grey stared with wide eyes, opening and closing his mouth several times, clearly about to say something, but he chose to remain silent instead.

"Anyway, I will draw the circle and the symbols like I saw my master do countless times. You will power it up with your mana thingy and one of the pills in your care."

"Wait! One of my pills? Why use one of them?" Grey asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Because to teleport so far away, a stable energy source is needed. Aside from your mana, we need another strong source—something potent. Those pills contain traces of beast cores. When we head back, we should be able to get a beast core, and that will bring us home. So as a substitute for now, let's use that damned pill." Thalos explained, pulling out his greatsword, which was now the size of a dagger.

He crouched down and began carefully drawing the circle, inscribing symbols within it with meticulous precision.

Grey sighed, glancing at the pouch where he stored the pills. It appeared in his hands almost by instinct.

'The pendant on my neck acts like a storage space. I can store things in it and take them out whenever I please with my mind. I wonder where I even got it from.' Grey thought as he opened the pouch and pulled out one of the yellow pills, waiting for Thalos to finish.

After five minutes of carefully canceling and redrawing the circle, Thalos finally stepped back with a wide smile.

"Man, I thought I wouldn't be able to do it and would just fail. But thankfully, I drew it perfectly." Thalos chuckled before clearing the way for Grey to step forward.

'I really don't know how to use this mana thingy or how to get it out, but I hope this works.' Grey thought as he stepped into the circle, dropping the yellow pill into the small indentation Thalos had indicated.

At the edge of the circle, Grey closed his eyes, focusing and meditating slightly to move the energy at the center of his chest. In a few seconds, he succeeded as the energy swirled to his hands, which began glowing brightly.

Crouching at the edge, Grey placed his hands on the circle. A small white energy shot out, striking the symbols drawn on the ground and spreading rapidly. The mana from his hands connected with all the symbols, linking them perfectly and causing a blinding white light to illuminate the cave.

"It is done." Grey smiled widely. The gargoyle sighed and stepped forward. The duo stood in the center of the circle as the yellow pill disintegrated rapidly.

Soon, a swirling white portal snapped into existence. Without hesitation, Grey and Thalos stepped through.

Far away from the Aetherian faction, in an unknown location within the Noxarian faction, a small cave stood.

Inside, a swirling white portal crackled with raw power.

After a few seconds, two figures stepped through.

The moment they did, the portal snapped shut behind them, sealing them inside the cave.

"Huh? Why are we in a cave? Did we even leave the Aetherian faction?" Grey asked as he scanned the dimly lit space.

The cave was roughly the same size as the previous one they had been in, but the difference this time was a large boulder blocking its entrance. It sealed the cave completely, preventing any natural light from entering. Luckily, a faint glow from crystals embedded in the walls and a few torches scattered around provided enough illumination for the duo to see properly.

"Well, looks like we aren't in the same cave as before. But why a cave, though?" Grey muttered, his eyes moving over the space.

"Properly, because this was my master's hideout back then," Thalos scoffed as he walked around the room, his wings brushing lightly against the walls.

"Your master sure did like caves, huh? Could have been a cave man or something," Grey chuckled as he wandered the room, searching for a way out.

While walking, his hands brushed against some markings on the wall. He peered closer, trying to decipher them.

Fortunately, he was able to make out the writing and began reading aloud.

"I just want to apologise to you, Thalos," Grey read. The gargoyle raised an eyebrow but remained stoic, turning to watch him.

"You were the only person I taught the magic circle to, so only you know where this place is. And if you are reading this, it means you must have found a new master and deemed him worthy. Also, for you both to be here, it means he is from my continent and uses magic like I do. That is good to know."

Grey paused briefly to glance at Thalos' expression. Seeing no change, he continued reading.

"I do not know how strong this mage is or how far he has advanced in the study of magic. Still, I decided to leave a few gifts to help him. To the side is an already drawn magic circle that can teleport him to a location where beasts roam freely. He can hunt for beast cores and other resources. While inside this room, my book is buried."

"Book? What book?" Grey asked, staring at Thalos, who merely shrugged. Undeterred, Grey continued reading, eager to understand.

"Yes. My book. A book on how to use a few basic magics, from the beginning up to about the fifth star. So if you are reading this, consider yourself lucky—you are about to relearn what you once knew about magic."
