Chapter 467: A Light Spar!
"I wonder what its effect is now." He mumbled as he walked forward to pick the pill up.
Gulp!
Grey swallowed his saliva hard as he stared at the blue pill in his hand.
'Come to think of it, I didn't even bother to think all this through. What if the pills had killed me? Sheesh! What more could possibly go wrong though?' He thought with a sigh before chugging the pill down his throat and swallowing hard.
Quickly, he sat down cross legged with his eyes closed, feeling the pill travel down his throat and into his stomach.
'Hold on! I won't know if it worked while sitting cross legged.' Grey thought as he quickly shot upright and glanced around the room, spotting Thalos staring at him with curious eyes.
"Hey Thal! Let's have a short spar. But don't use all your speed and strength, I wouldn't want to destroy this inn." Grey called out as he took a stance while staring at the gargoyle.
"Alright." Thalos shrugged as he stood up from the bed.
Before Grey could even think of blinking, the gargoyle had moved from where he stood, cracking the flooring badly and appearing in front of the warrior mage in a split second.
'Shit! I always used to forget how terrifyingly fast he is even at half his power. Tch!' Grey thought, but quickly swirled his Ki to his feet and leaped away from the incoming punch aimed at his face.
Surprisingly, he dodged it completely, not just by a narrow margin, as the punch cut through the air with a sharp bang.
"Kek." Grey chuckled as he landed a metre away, glee flashing in his eyes.
Bang!
He shot forward from where he stood, moving at twice his normal speed, so fast it looked like he had teleported. In just two seconds, he appeared right in front of Thalos.
Without hesitation, he swung his fist from the side, aiming for a roundhouse punch, which momentarily stunned the gargoyle.
'How is he suddenly moving faster than before? He wasn't as fast as this. Stage 2 warriors shouldn't even be able to move like this.' Thalos thought with a frown as he leaped back, avoiding the punch.
But before he could regain his footing, the Supreme Magus quickly clapped his hands together, producing a gust of wind that slammed into the gargoyle, forcing it to skid a few inches backward.
'His reaction speed has also improved. He is moving just as fast as when he used his lightning magic against me during the beat down. How is this possible? Is this because of the pill he took?!' Thalos thought.
Without warning, he blitzed forward at astonishing speed, appearing directly behind Grey in the blink of an eye. The gargoyle swung his fist with such force that the air ruptured in front of it, but as though he had eyes behind his head, Grey ducked low, causing the punch to whip over him harmlessly.
Quickly, he rose back up and slammed an uppercut under Thalos' arm, nearly making the gargoyle stumble forward. Thalos barely managed to catch himself, but before he could react further, Grey leaped up with a grin, whipping his leg toward the gargoyle's neck.
Surprisingly, Thalos caught his leg mid-air, halting him completely. With one simple motion, Grey was hurled across the room, his body tumbling and bouncing across the floorboards.
"Ugh! Don't hit me so hard, damn it!" Grey groaned out loud as he stabbed his fingers into the ground, bringing his body to a sliding halt.
"I didn't even touch you." Thalos scoffed.
"Tch!" Grey spat angrily, suddenly scanning the room. The entire place was overturned. The magic circles he had drawn were wiped out, chairs were flung across the floor, and the curtains had collapsed, revealing the moonlit night sky outside.
"Okay. We need to stop." Grey muttered as he clenched his hands in and out.
"You done with your experiment?" Thalos asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah. Two minutes. That's how long it lasts." Grey grinned immensely. "The green pill boosts one's speed for two seconds, but my blue pill boosts speed for two minutes. That's beautiful."
"I'm glad you are done. Now can we eat? I'm starving." Thalos grumbled as he strode forward and grabbed a plate of food.
"I thought gargoyles do not eat. How are you able to?" Grey asked with a raised eyebrow as he also grabbed the second plate and began devouring it hungrily.
"Ever since I took over this human form, it modified me. I can feel, taste, and sense things. If I was in my gargoyle body, I wouldn't have been able to eat because I couldn't taste anything. But in this human body, it's different," Thalos replied, his mouth half filled with food.
"Quick one," Grey muttered as he took a bite of the steak on his plate. "Was that really half your speed just now?"
"Yes. My body is limited at this point. Currently, I'm stronger than most people in this human form. But I'm still restrained unless I take off this damn ring and return to my normal body.
Only then will I be able to unleash my full power and demolish any threat that comes my way," Thalos explained, chewing noisily as he rapidly devoured his food.
"Hmm. Interesting," Grey mumbled under his breath. He finished his meal, grabbed a cup of water, and downed it in one gulp before letting out a satisfied sigh. "That sure hits the spot."
"Alright then," Thalos muttered as he set his plate aside and shifted his gaze toward the window, where the reflection of the night sky shimmered back at him.
"Do you still want to experiment or…"
"Nope. I feel sleepy. I've realized and done all I can for the day. Let's just rest and wait for Dame to come tomorrow. I want to work on his gift," Grey replied.
"Gift?" Thalos asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes. The book he gave me is valuable, and it has helped me develop a few things already. So yeah, he deserves something for that," Grey said as he threw himself onto the bed.
"And don't I get anything for helping you so far?" Thalos questioned, turning toward Grey. Veins began bulging across his forehead as he noticed the warrior mage was already fast asleep.
In less than what? A second, maybe even less.
"I feel like strangling him in his sleep," Thalos scoffed.
"And I feel like shooting a beam down your head," Grey replied softly.
"So you are awa..."
SNURRR!
A loud snore erupted from Grey, cutting him off. Thalos clenched his jaw, grinding his teeth back and forth in frustration.
"Curse you, Grey!" Thalos spat as he turned away, glaring into the darkness of the room.
