Chapter 544: Red Shield Menace
"Electro Shock!"
Aoi touched the large head of a purple-skinned creature and made it explode into a cloud of purple blood.
Snap! Snap! Snap!
Kiernan snapped his fingers thrice and killed three purple-skinned creatures, who stained the dungeon walls with their purple blood.
[You killed 3x Dungeon Dwellers!]
[300 XP Acquired!]
"Nice~"
Aoi checked the purple corpses for the gems and felt slightly disappointed after seeing that they gave bad gems.
It was going to be a decent payday nonetheless.
While she was doing that, Kiernan checked the surrounding area in case there were any more Dungeon Dwellers hiding.
At that moment, as he walked past a corner, he came across a narrow pathway that led straight towards a tall door.
At first, he thought that they had circled back to the entrance of the blue dragon, but no, they had actually found the boss room!
"Faye!"
Kiernan shouted.
"Yes, husband?"
Aoi said with a giggle as she ran over, but then she noticed the tall door and looked stunned before beaming up.
"It is the boss room!"
The door was the color of a dark blue, had an arched top that reached up to the ceiling, and was covered in intricate carvings.
"I've heard that the bosses of the blue dungeons are all Martial Grandmasters. It's going to be extremely tough just for two of us."
Kiernan said.
"But…?"
Aoi asked.
She had a hunch that there was a 'but' coming somewhere in his next sentence.
"I've studied, and I know that there is a boss called the 'Red Shield Menace' behind that door. It's been very thoroughly studied.
"In simpler terms, all these bosses have been 'programmed' to have certain move sets and phases, and the 'Red Shield Menace' is no exception."
"It's just like in those video games. So, it's not like we're fighting a human, who is unpredictable and ever-changing.
"I know what to expect if we decide to fight, and I believe that we can defeat it."
Kiernan said.
"I trust in your judgment. Just tell me what I should do against the boss, and I shall do it!"
Aoi said.
"Red Shield Menace has two phases—his first phase is mainly usage of the shield. When he presses his shield against his chest, he is ready to do a shield tackle.
"When he lifts the shield over his head, he is about to slam the ground and cause a shockwave.
"Those are his main weapons of the first phase, but he might also keep trying to smash you with the shield if he gets close enough, so keep your distance.
"In the second phase, things will get trickier. The shield will fuse with his arm, making it both a weapon and a defensive tool.
"The shield arm will suck the blood of his own body to empower his attacks, and he can shoot a bloody beam from his fist.
"That blood is extremely poisonous, so I've brought some poison antidotes with me, if we need any, just in case.
"That's pretty much all."
Kiernan said.
"Okay, I will try to remember it all. I can try to use my invisibility to get some sneaky attacks at him."
Aoi said.
"That sounds good. I'll use my air bullets to damage him from afar, but I also have a few other methods to injure him."
Kiernan said, and then when they both were ready, they approached the door and saw quite many warning signs engraved on the walls.
[Leave if you're not ready!]
[Don't be foolish and try it alone!]
[Gather a party of at least five people before trying!]
[The Red Shield Menace is ahead!]
With their decision made, Kiernan pushed the heavy-looking granite double doors wide open and then stepped inside the dark chamber.
It was so dark that Kiernan couldn't see anything beyond his outstretched hand.
At that moment, torches lit up in the pillars that were holding the ceiling up, and they saw a circular-shaped chamber.
The floor had some strange kinds of engravings that seemed to glow faintly in the torchlight, and then, they both saw the creature.
At the end of the chamber, there was a tall figure kneeling on the ground. It looked like he was sleeping. And then, his crimson eyes opened wide.
With the red shield in hand, the figure stood up. He didn't have armor, but instead wore a long black cloak that billowed behind him.
The shield was emblazoned with a bronze dragon and was shaped like a demon's head.
The figure's flesh was dark gray, had the face of a furry goat with horns, and his eyes glowed a bright red.
"Who dares to enter? You've come for my shield? How dare you! I, the Red Shield Menace, challenge you to battle till death!"
Bang!
The double doors came shut, and Aoi tried opening them, but they didn't even flinch.
"The doors are locked. We cannot leave unless we defeat him!"
She cried out.
"The doors will open in five minutes again, and then we can leave if we desire to. I wouldn't have you come with me if it was impossible to leave."
Kiernan said.
"Oh… okay!"
Aoi rubbed her hands together, increasing the static electricity between her hands, and then pointed them towards the red-wielding menace.
Boom!
Red Shield Menace stomped on the ground with a step forward, and then he took another step forward, and yet another one.
He moved the red shield close to his chest and turned to Kiernan—he then lowered his stance slightly as if preparing for a lunge—and then he sprang forward.
Swoosh!
For someone of his size, he was incredibly speedy!
Kiernan pointed both hands at the Red Shield's Menace's legs, made his fingers look like finger guns, and then snapped his fingers.
Bang! Bang!
The air bullets smashed into the Red Shield Menace's knees and made him fall to the ground in seconds.
"Electro Shock!"
Aoi touched the Red Shield Menace's head and electrocuted him, making him smoke like a bacon strip!
"Iron Style, Iron Smash Breaker!"
Kiernan punched the Red Shield Menace in his forehead, and the impact of the power transferred into countless other pressure points in his head.
Boom!
The Red Shield Menace's head got pummeled into the ground, and the ground cracked beneath him.
'This is not enough to defeat him. Red Shield Menace is, after all, Martial Grandmaster, and they're tough as nails!'
