Chapter 549: Guilty Conscience
Evelyn stood up, got close to the railing, and looked down at the group of men standing in front of the entrance of the tea shop.
"If you're curious about our methods, maybe we can give you a demonstration. Eliza, please, bring one of the men from outside here.
"I shall demonstrate it personally."
She said.
With a nod, Eliza was about to leave, but at that moment, Aoi stood up erratically—it almost looked like she jumped.
"That wouldn't be necessary… I don't think I will fit this sect, as I do have a fiancée, and something like this is out of my comfort zone."
Aoi said, showing the ring on her finger, and caressed it gently.
"…"
Evelyn looked at the ring with a frown, turned back to Aoi, and said.
"You should break up with this fiancée of yours. You cannot trust men. They don't have the ability to handle their lustful desires.
"He will just break your heart in the future, but if you are with us, your heart will never be broken.
"You're the one that will do the breaking."
She then turned back to look down at the men in the street, gazed at them, and then said.
"I see that some men in the street also have a ring on their fingers. Some of them might be married and have girlfriends waiting back at home and even children.
"Yet, if even one daughter of mine asks for sex from them, they'll accept without hesitation, because they're weak-willed."
Evelyn almost growled when she finished saying that, turned back to Aoi, and saw that she was looking at her with a serious gaze.
"I see from your gaze that you think I might be right, correct? You're probably imagining this fiancée of yours cheating already."
"No, you're wrong. I trust him. I don't know who hurt you to make you think that about every man, but you're very wrong. I'll be going now."
Aoi said, and headed out of the balcony.
Eliza was about to go after her, but Eliza lifted her hand to stop her, and they watched as Aoi left through the front door.
"What now?"
Beatrice asked.
"Let's find out who is her partner, and then we will break her heart. It will be necessary, and in the future, she will know that joining us was the best decision of her life."
Evelyn said.
…
Aoi returned back to the inn room, went to the kitchen, and put her groceries in the refrigerator.
However, her hands were shaking, as if she was still recalling that strange meeting she had with the girls of the Lovely Flower Sect.
She thought about telling Kiernan about it, but she didn't want him to worry more, considering what happened today.
At that moment, the vacant room's door opened, and Kiernan walked out, shirtless and sweating as if he had done some strenuous exercise.
"Hey~"
Aoi looked at him with a smile, saw his sweaty self, and, out of uncomfortableness, looked towards the vacant room.
However, she didn't see anyone there, so she sighed in relief and slapped herself in the cheek for thinking about that.
She couldn't help it as Evelyn's words echoed in her mind, as if there was some kind of voice recorder stuck inside her mind, and kept replaying the same message over and over.
"Hello, is everything alright?"
Kiernan walked over to her as she could feel that something was off with her, and she nodded weakly.
"Y-Yeah… What were you doing back in that room?"
She asked.
"Training, the usual. I've been trying to push myself to enter Flow State, but I guess it's not possible to do that forcefully."
Kiernan said with a sigh.
She nodded in response, but Kiernan could sense that something was off with her, and he curiously went to the sink but looked at her through his peripheral vision.
Her face looked quite pale, as if she were sick, but it wasn't that. She wasn't sick. It was like she was thinking about something.
"What happened?"
Kiernan asked, his voice turning low.
"E-Eh? N-Nothing…"
Aoi shook her head, finished putting the groceries away, and then went to the living room to sit down on the couch.
She took a quick look at the newspaper, saw the page about all the deaths of the men, and dropped it back on the table, feeling her anxiety rising and her mood turning low.
Kiernan looked at her from the kitchen, tossed a gold coin in his hand, and kept thinking about the reason for her low mood.
At first, he thought that she was just feeling guilty about what happened over in the dungeon, but this wasn't it.
Something must've happened to her after the dungeon, and for a moment, he thought that she might've been robbed of the red gem.
If that would've been the case, she would've either become injured or at least told him, but it was clear that it was something that she didn't want to talk to him about.
'I think it's something to do with me. It was as if she doesn't want to look at me out of guilt…'
Kiernan put the gold coin between his fingers, crushed it beyond repair, and felt his bloodlust rise inside him.
'What happened…'
…
Standing on the roof, close to the inn, several women peeked from behind the chimneys to see through the haze of smoke and ash.
They looked through the window and saw Aoi and Kiernan—alone in their room—as the curtains weren't drawn.
"It's him…"
Clara said in surprise.
"You know of him?"
Evelyn asked while wearing a green veil to hide her face behind, just like the other women did, to hide their identities.
"Beatrice does~"
Clara said with a giggle and turned to look at Beatrice, whose ugly expression said a thousand words, but she remained silent.
"Beatrice tried to sleep with him, but he refused because he already had a girl. To think that girl was Faye."
Clara said with a giggle.
"So, he has better self-control than most, but in the end, he is nothing but a man, and he cannot resist the charm of the sisters of the Lovely Flower Sect.
"However, to guarantee the success, I will do the seducing."
Evelyn said.
