Chapter 562: Arrival of Xerxus
Wunderland, Rodero, Cold King's Merchant Store.
In the dimly lit merchant shop, Kiernan looked at the gas lamp, and its murky light flickered like a distant memory of a forgotten dream.
"I've finished appraising the gems!"
The merchant, who went by the nickname of the Cold King, came in with the box of gems and put it down on the counter.
"The black gems are close to useless, but I've found a marketplace that might be interested in them. The gray gems are alright, but the ones I am most interested in are these red gems."
He put the three gems on the counter—they were all from bosses—as Kiernan finished clearing three dungeons and acquired three red gems in return.
"I am willing to give you 4,900 gold coins for all the gems."
The merchant said with a smile.
"4,900? Are you kidding me?"
Kiernan asked with a frown and saw the merchant's eyes flicker with a look of surprise as he thought that he would be satisfied with it.
Since he thought that Kiernan was young and inexperienced about the value of the gems, he thought he could fleece him easily.
Unfortunately for him, Kiernan had been studying enough to know that these gems would go for 8,000 gold coins at least.
"7,500 gold coins."
Kiernan said.
While he was taking the loss of five hundred gold coins, the merchant also had to make a profit, and he doubted that he was willing to pay 8,000 for those.
"Ah… Hmm."
The merchant scratched the back of his head, but then he unwillingly nodded and paid the required amount.
It was still good for him to make profit, as he believed he could get 9,000 from his customers with those red gems.
After Kiernan stepped out of the merchant shop, he stored the money inside his system interface.
From being poor with barely over 700 gold coins, he now had 8.2k gold coins, and that was going to last them for a while.
And it was the money he earned in a single day, so if he kept this up, he was going to be richer than he ever was in no time.
[XP: 7950/64000]
He also gained over two thousand experience points for today, which he wasn't quite satisfied with, but it was hard to get good experience points from Green Dungeons.
It was going to be much easier to gain experience points in Blue Dungeons, but he still had many Green Dungeons to conquer before he could move on.
In the notebook, he also had a couple more texts translated, but like the previous ones, they were just some nonsense written by MR.
"It's still early…"
Kiernan checked the time on the phone, messaged Aoi that he was done with the dungeons for now, and then pocketed the phone.
He wasn't going to go home just yet, as he was planning to visit the firing range. Not to shoot a gun. But to further master his accuracy with air bullets.
…
Bang! Bang! Bang!
With guns in hand, people pulled the triggers of their revolvers, and the sound of gunfire echoed throughout the range.
They were hitting a target in the distance—some hit the target in the chest, others in the shoulder, and others in the head.
However, there was a strange sight of a gray-haired young man standing in front of one of the firing ranges without a gun.
"…What the hell?"
The firing range's owner watched from the back with his arms crossed as the gray-haired young man paid for the turn at the firing range.
However, he didn't rent a gun to use and didn't bring his own gun, so he had no idea why he would be here without a gun.
"…"
At that moment, Kiernan pointed his fingers at the target in the distance, pressed his fingers together, and gave a sharp snap.
An air bullet flew out of his finger and smashed the target in the leg area.
When the firing range's owner saw that, his eyes almost flew out of his sockets, and he threw his arms up in the air before heading back to his office.
This counted as a gun to him!
'Hmm… I aimed at the head, but the further the air bullet traversed, the further down the trajectory kept going.
'It is because there is not enough power in the air bullet, so there is not enough momentum to keep the trajectory straight.'
Kiernan rubbed his fingers together to increase the friction, pointed his fingers at the target, and kept firing.
…
Wunderland, Rodero, Marketplace Street.
A couple of days later.
Kiernan sat on the bench by the sidewalk, watching the passersby walk by, and then heard the wheels roll down the cobblestone road.
He turned to the side, saw a wagon come to a rolling stop in front of him, and people poured out.
Amidst the last ones, a curly-haired man stepped out with sunglasses on his face and a coat draped over.
He looked like he was also trying to hide his identity by pulling his hat low over his eyes, and he looked around until his gaze landed on Kiernan.
"Hello."
Xerxus greeted simply, pulled out the cane handle from his pocket, and when he twirled it around, the cane's shaft extended from the handle.
"How was the trip?"
Kiernan asked and started walking down the sidewalk with Xerxus, the former Fleet Admiral, by his side.
If the citizens of Rodero knew that there was a Fleet Admiral walking in the same street as them, all hell would break loose.
It was because he was an extremely popular figure, and the news of his retirement from the navy was huge news.
It caused the entire navy to start reorganizing, as they just lost the strongest powerhouse they had and their only Immortal Stage martial artist.
Everyone in the World Seas paled in the horror of that news, while the pirates celebrated the retirement of their greatest enemy.
They now believed that the navy was almost crippled in strength, but that wasn't exactly the case, as Xerxus wasn't completely retired.
If need be, he was going to wear the coat of the navy once again and take on the pirates head-on.
"Found any more texts?"
Xerxus asked.
"Oh, yeah."
Kiernan said and handed him the notebook—in the past few days, he had gone through all the Green Dungeons—thus, he had plenty more text.
Thus, he also managed to raise his total experience points, and his current wealth by a great deal.
