Chapter 154: The Kingdom of Talokan
Namor recovered his composure, watched George close his eyes, and launched another surprise attack. He kept shifting positions in the air, his clenched fist poised to strike George's face.
"Pfft"
The sharp sound of a blade piercing flesh came from Namor's direction.
Namor found himself impaled through the shoulder by his own spear, then hoisted diagonally upward.
The Talokan warriors in the water stared in stunned disbelief at seeing their leader so easily pierced.
"Please continue, that was beautiful music," George smiled as he looked at the Talokan warriors in the water.
The warriors below saw his smile as exceptionally menacing.
Namor tried to retreat and escape the spear's grip, but an invisible force bound him to the weapon, making escape impossible.
The warriors in the water feared George's overwhelming strength but still sought to counterattack. Unfortunately, they couldn't fly, and their jumping ability proved insufficient to reach George's position.
A Talokan warrior hurled his spear with tremendous force toward George. George smiled and deliberately positioned Namor in front of himself. The projectile pierced through Namor's opposite shoulder.
"Ah!"
"Stop, stop!" other warriors cried out.
The Talokan warriors who had been preparing to launch their spears began lowering their weapons.
"Who are you, and why are you attacking us?" Namor demanded, enduring the pain.
"That's exactly what I want to know. Why did you attack my vessels?" George replied, observing the suspended Namor.
"I don't know about this. It has nothing to do with us," Namor insisted, grasping the spear with his hand to ease the agony.
"So you won't open up until you see the coffin, huh?"
Instantly, Namor felt the burning pain of his wounds transform into searing torment.
George had cast a fire magic spell upon the spear, adding an agonizing element to Namor's injuries.
"Namor, I know you very well. The only reason I didn't trouble you before was because you hadn't provoked me. Now that you've foolishly crossed my path, don't blame me for the consequences," George declared.
"My Lord, I was the one who led the men to kill your crew members. This has nothing to do with Kukulkan," a young warrior in the water spoke up.
"Namor, you see? You're not as honest as your warrior," George observed, shaking the spear deliberately.
"Ah, release me! Who are you, and how do you know about our existence?" Namor gasped, enduring immense suffering.
"You may call me George Orwell. Your existence is hardly a secret, just as your possession of rare blue rock ore is well-known," George explained with an amused smile. "By the way, what you call blue rock ore is known as Vibranium in the outside world."
Several additional blue-skinned Talokan people, clearly advanced in age, emerged from the depths.
"My Lord, could you please lower our Kukulkan first? We will certainly provide you with a satisfactory explanation and compensation for this incident," one of the Elders requested.
"There's no need for further discussion. You, like those conquistadors, have come here to seize our resources. We will never surrender," Namor declared defiantly.
"Is that your final answer? Very well. After I eliminate you, I'll proceed to destroy all your Talokan people," George announced. The hand gripping the spear ignited with scorching flames.
The flames began spreading along the spear toward Namor. No matter how frantically Namor struggled, the fire drew closer.
"Wait a moment, Your Excellency! If you have conditions, please state them," several Elders implored, speaking in unison.
"Excellent! See, Namor, you should learn something from your elders. I support peace, so my demands are quite straightforward: first, submit to my authority, and second, surrender everyone who participated in killing my crew that night," George stated, halting the advancing flames.
"The second condition poses no difficulty, but regarding the first, could you grant us time to deliberate?" the previous Elder requested.
"You may proceed." George glanced at Namor hanging from the spear, released a light chuckle, then hurled him into the sea along with the weapon.
The Talokan warriors in the water and the Elders who had recently surfaced began frantically trying to stem Namor's bleeding.
"Your Excellency, please wait momentarily. After our discussion, we shall return with our response." Without waiting for George's reply, they all turned and vanished beneath the waves.
"Boss, why didn't you simply eliminate them? What if they refuse to resurface?" Bucky asked.
"Haha, that's exactly their plan. They think that by hiding one or two hundred meters underwater, I'll be powerless against them. I want them to experience despair at their moment of greatest confidence. It's better if they're all assembled together. It'll be easier to capture them all at once, don't you agree?" George explained with amusement.
"You will never change, will you? Never trusting anyone," Bucky acknowledged.
"Oh, come on, don't I trust you all? Enough about me. Let's talk about you. Steve has Peggy, who was willing to freeze herself and wait for him. What about you? When will you find someone?" George asked.
"I'll pass on that. There are countless women available, why bind myself to one tree? It's far better to follow Howard's approach!" Bucky replied with a grin.
"Didn't he find a woman named Maria and begin courting her?" George asked.
"Him? Who knows how long that will last? You don't know, he's dated every woman featured on the company's magazine covers. How could such a notorious playboy ever settle down and marry?" Bucky responded with a trace of envy.
"Don't be envious. If you're willing to spend money, you could do the same. As the head of BlackShield Security, surely you're not lacking funds," George said with amusement.
"Forget it, there are only twelve covers annually. I'm too lazy to compete with those people," Bucky said, raising his left hand in a dismissive gesture.
"I've told you repeatedly, I can provide you with a normal arm or add synthetic skin, but you chose otherwise. Who can you blame?" George commented, glancing at the metallic limb.
"After you added holographic imaging and anti-detection capabilities, it's far superior to a normal arm. This is Vibranium, it can match Steve's shield. Most importantly, I've grown used to it," Bucky said, flexing his left hand.
"I suspect you simply want to compete with Steve," George observed, seeing through Bucky's motivation.
Over the years, George considered a few people genuine friends, and Bucky definitely qualified as one. When George had leisure time, the two often shared drinks, so their conversations naturally became more relaxed.
"Boss, should I fire additional rounds for testing?" Bucky asked when he felt enough time had elapsed.
"No need, I'll go directly." After speaking, George stood immediately and vanished from the aircraft.
.....
Meanwhile, after Namor was transported back to his thatched dwelling, an Elder immediately summoned the shaman to treat Namor's injuries.
They began an animated discussion. Ultimately, after Namor's wounds were bandaged, he swept his gaze across everyone in the chamber and declared:
"There's no need to continue this debate. Notify all citizens that they're forbidden from approaching the surface temporarily. Everyone must remain underwater. I refuse to believe he can descend here, we're at 140 meters depth."
"Exactly. The waterways surrounding the capital are maze-like. Without knowledge of the correct entrance, he cannot penetrate our defenses," an Elder agreed.
"But what if he discovers the way in..." another Elder voiced concern.
"The seabed represents Talokan territory. We cannot match him on land, but in water, we fear no one," another Elder proclaimed.
"Exactly, exactly!" came multiple voices of agreement.
"Oh, are you so certain I cannot enter?" A distinctly mocking voice echoed from outside the dwelling.
(T/E: Surprise Motherfuckers!! Haha)
