Chapter 155: Vibranium Mine
The Talokan Kingdom remains deeply conservative, almost never interacting with the outside world and resisting all new things, especially anything from the surface!
They uphold primitive systems and ancient traditions, which explains why the Talokan Kingdom has remained so backward throughout the centuries.
Since 1571, when the wizard led this tribe to live beneath the waves, they have survived through gathering and underwater farming.
Their food consists mainly of various marine animals and a type of underwater algae fruit, while their weapons remain quite primitive: mainly Vibranium spears and sea turtle shells fashioned into shields.
George understood that while these isolationist Talokan people seemed to live a carefree life now, their long-term self-imposed exile would eventually lead to their destruction.
These Talokan people believed their underwater realm was perfectly hidden, but they severely underestimated both the rapid development of surface technology and humanity's relentless curiosity for exploring unknown territories.
Not to mention that they possessed abundant Vibranium resources. Perhaps they didn't fully understand that they themselves were the very source that would attract war to their doorstep.
As soon as those capitalist nations on the surface discovered such a mysterious group of people, their fate would be all too predictable: dissection, research, and then captivity would probably be the best outcome they could hope for.
Just like the United States today, which has established Native American reservations for the indigenous peoples of that land.
There's almost no difference between those and large-scale animal nature preserves. Compared to animals in a zoo, it's merely a matter of replacing iron cages with vast expanses of land.
What's truly laughable is that Thanksgiving remains one of the biggest holidays in the United States, yet the very people they claim to be grateful for were nearly wiped out by their ancestors.
As for the underwater advantage that the Talokan people so desperately relied upon, it was nothing more than a cruel joke, not just in front of George, but also when faced with the increasingly advanced technology of the future.
The Talokan people numbered only a few thousand at most. They were a dwindling population where each death meant one less soul in existence. How could they possibly believe they could withstand attacks from nuclear submarines and thermonuclear weapons?
However, these were merely the naive fantasies of the Talokan people, led by Namor, who were like frogs trapped at the bottom of a well.
Namor and the Talokan Elders inside the dwelling suddenly heard the sound that terrified them most, and their expressions changed drastically. They couldn't begin to understand how this outsider had managed to locate their hidden underground sanctuary.
Several Talokan warriors, including Duma, the very instigator of the earlier attack, finally reacted in this crucial moment. They rushed from various corners of the cavern with spears raised high, launching themselves at George, who had so suddenly materialized before them.
George's palm began crackling with deadly electricity. The charging warriors had no chance to dodge and were directly obliterated by the devastating ion sphere.
Constant retreat would only be seen as weakness. Since George had already demonstrated his overwhelming strength earlier, the aggressive actions of these warriors naturally led to their own swift demise.
"Duma! Karlba!"
Namor and the Elders, hearing the violent commotion erupting outside, burst from the thatched hut only to witness the young warriors' lifeless bodies scattered across the cavern floor.
"You demon!" one of the Elders shouted at George.
"I killed five people, and you dare call me a demon?" George asked with a cold smile spreading across his face. "Are the dozens of people aboard my ship not human lives worth consideration?"
His voice took on a more dangerous edge. "Also, I couldn't help but overhear that you're refusing to agree to my perfectly reasonable demands. Is that correct?"
Namor was about to launch himself forward when he suddenly felt an overwhelming gravitational force pressing down upon him, and his movements became severely restricted.
As the crushing gravity grew exponentially stronger, Namor could no longer maintain his upright posture, while the other Elders had already collapsed completely to the ground.
Because the Talokan people had lived in the crushing depths of the deep sea for countless generations, they were indeed far more resistant to pressure than ordinary surface dwellers.
Recognizing this, George methodically continued to increase the intensity of his gravity field until Namor could no longer bear the crushing weight and was forced to kneel in submission, while the other Elders began vomiting blood uncontrollably.
"Wait! Please!" Namor shouted desperately through gritted teeth. "We are willing to surrender unconditionally!"
"And what about the rest of you?" George's piercing gaze swept over the Elders who were still retching blood.
"We choose to surrender completely," came the chorus of five defeated voices.
"Excellent. Now go, gather every single citizen of the Talokan Kingdom in your most sacred temple immediately. I will formally accept your surrender there," George commanded with absolute authority.
"Yes, sir!" they responded in unison.
The Elders exchanged meaningful glances with one another, and a profound sense of sorrow welled up deep within their hearts.
In just a single hour, it felt as though their entire world had been turned completely upside down. Kukulkan, the very same leader who had previously urged them to always resist the surface dwellers at all costs, was now the first among them to choose complete surrender.
These proud people felt both overwhelming sorrow and crushing helplessness flooding their hearts, and in the end, they could only choose to endure this bitter humiliation.
Half an hour later, Talokan Capital, Grand Hall
In truth, the so-called "Grand Hall" was merely an illumination device constructed using Vibranium's energy storage capabilities, while their supposedly majestic throne was nothing more than a massive whale's skull.
When every citizen of the Talokan Kingdom had gathered before the Grand Hall and heard the shocking news of their surrender to George directly from Namor's lips, the entire hall immediately erupted in excited discussions and heated debates.
At that precise moment, George appeared dramatically in the very center of the Grand Hall, and the overwhelming mental power he projected outward shocked every single Talokan citizen into stunned silence.
"Citizens of Talokan, from this day forward, I am your King!" George's commanding words instantly penetrated the minds of every Talokan person through his formidable mental abilities.
"You should consider yourselves fortunate that your Kukulkan and your Elders chose wisely not to pursue the path of war, for otherwise the devastating consequences would have been far beyond your wildest imagination..."
Under the overwhelming influence of George's mental manipulation, gradually every single Talokan citizen began to accept the harsh reality of their surrender to this surface dweller.
All the Talokan people, employing their most traditional and sacred gestures, demonstrated their complete submission to George.
George floated effortlessly in the water, and an intricate golden magic circle began materializing between his outstretched hands.
As George slowly raised his hands skyward, the magical circle gradually ascended and expanded dramatically, eventually encompassing all the Talokan people within its mystical embrace.
While every Talokan citizen remained shocked and mesmerized by this incredible display of power, identical magic circles began appearing on everyone's arms simultaneously.
"Hiss—"
"Ah!"
"What is this...?"
"Silence! That mark represents the ability to control water that I now bestow upon each of you. In the near future, I will construct a magnificent new city for your people!"
"Talokan Rise!"
"Talokan Rise!"
The chant echoed throughout the underwater realm as their voices united in acknowledgment of their new reality.
After successfully bestowing the supernatural ability to manipulate water upon all the Talokan people, George, guided by Namor and the humbled Elders, began conducting a comprehensive tour of the entire Talokan Kingdom.
Overall assessment revealed that this place remained remarkably primitive in its development, with most of its people still dwelling within natural stone caverns and formations.
After gaining a thorough understanding of their current living environment and conditions, George instructed Namor and the other leaders to continue their daily routines as usual, while he himself instantly teleported back to his "Flying Fox" aircraft.
As for those warriors who had previously dared to attack his fleet, their ultimate fate hardly required further explanation.
"Boss, can they really breathe directly underwater without any assistance?" Bucky, who was expertly piloting the advanced aircraft, asked with genuine curiosity.
"Their ancestors' entire respiratory systems underwent permanent mutation after consuming those mystical herbs centuries ago, that's the simple explanation for their abilities," George replied matter-of-factly. "Let's head back to headquarters now."
"Understood, Boss." Bucky immediately activated the sophisticated stealth device and then skillfully piloted the aircraft on a direct course toward New York.
New York, Star Group Headquarters
"The situation has been completely handled and resolved, and I can guarantee this type of incident will never occur again," George reported confidently.
"Oh, and by the way, I need you to purchase this particular piece of land immediately." George handed over a detailed map with a specific area clearly circled in red ink and issued precise instructions to Jia Ying.
Taking control of the Talokan Kingdom during this mission had been completely incidental for George, merely a convenient opportunity that had presented itself.
However, that incredibly valuable Vibranium mine represented a truly substantial and tangible benefit.
Moreover, the current Talokan people demonstrated remarkably little utilization of their abundant Vibranium resources. Apart from the small quantities used for crafting their traditional spears, there was virtually no significant consumption or industrial application.
George had specifically instructed Jia Ying to acquire the surrounding surface land because he distinctly remembered that there existed a hidden entrance in that location that led directly down to the rich Vibranium mining operation.
The ancient wizard from centuries past had originally collected those mutated plants from the very entrance of that waterway.
During his earlier return journey, George had also taken the opportunity to collect several specimens of the mutated plant life, fully intending to transport them back to his headquarters for Dr. Erskine to conduct detailed scientific analysis and research.
The possibilities that lay ahead seemed truly limitless.
