Marvel: AS A PRINCE IN ASGARD

Chapter 87: CHAPTER 87

Upon returning to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, Ragna observed the Avengers' frantic efforts to identify and monitor potential Skrull infiltrations within Earth's key institutions. The looming threat of biochemical weapons, such as the release of creatures like the Abomination in major cities, had instilled widespread fear. Even with the rapid response capabilities of the Angels, the potential for catastrophic loss of life and urban devastation remained high.

Noting their concern, Ragna addressed the team, "Rest assured, I've eliminated the majority of Skrulls on Earth; the few remaining pose no significant threat. Focus now on stabilizing America's leadership, given the recent high-profile losses."

He continued, "Be aware, S.H.I.E.L.D. may have been compromised, potentially infiltrated by Skrull agents. It's imperative you assess and cleanse the organization accordingly. If restructuring is necessary, consider a rebranding; perhaps 'Serpent Shield' would be fitting."

Turning to Tony Stark, Ragna added, "Tony, enjoy your time on Earth for now. Soon, your expertise will be required off-world. Some experiments may involve activities on various planets beyond our solar system. You're welcome to bring loved ones or take periodic leaves. As mentioned, the benefits are substantial."

With that, Ragna departed, leaving the Avengers to process the revelations: the potential compromise of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the prospect of interplanetary responsibilities.

After instructing the Angels to secure the mysterious crystal and assist the Avengers in restoring order, Ragna ascended into space. Below him lay the vibrant Earth; ahead, the cratered and desolate moon. Recalling ancient legends suggesting the moon's absence in early times, Ragna pondered the truth of these tales.

The moon's far side, perpetually shrouded in darkness, now basked in Caesar's radiant energy as he transformed into a luminous entity. The once obscure terrain became vividly illuminated. Despite this, the answers he sought remained elusive, though he sensed they were within reach.

On the moon's dark side, a familiar spacecraft—the Kree Empire cruiser—attempted a hasty retreat upon detecting Caesar's presence. However, wielding the Space Stone, Ragna effortlessly intercepted the vessel. Inside, he found remnants of the Skrull occupants, their defensive measures futile against him. It appeared the Skrulls had finally gained control of the ship's systems.

In the command center, several Skrulls lay incapacitated. With his last breath, the Skrull captain activated a distress signal, proclaiming, "The Skrull Empire will rise again!" The ship then self-destructed, but Ragna emerged unscathed, dispersing the debris with a mere gesture. Reflecting on the captain's actions, Ragna mused, "Perhaps Carol Danvers provided them with a means to call for aid." Regardless, the Skrulls' attempts at deception were transparent to him.

Notably, the cruiser lacked Kree personnel, and a significant number of Skrulls and biochemical weapons were unaccounted for. Considering their advanced cloaking abilities, potent psychic powers, the enigmatic crystal, and possible alliances with groups like HYDRA, Ragna surmised a connection to the Inhumans and their leader, Black Bolt. Gazing at the moon, he declared, "Legends speak of a time before the moon existed. If necessary, that time can come again."

Drawing a flaming sword from the ether, Ragna prepared to cleave the moon. Within its core, the hidden city of Attilan—protected by formidable energy shields—sounded alarms. In the royal hall, Black Bolt confronted Talos, the Skrull leader, accusing, "Your presence endangers all of Attilan!" Talos retorted, "We've also offered salvation to the Inhumans. Recall our pact!"

Millennia ago, the Kree conducted experiments on early humans, resulting in the creation of the Inhumans. These beings, upon exposure to the Terrigen Mists, developed extraordinary abilities. However, the Kree abandoned their experiments, leaving the Inhumans to form their own secluded society, Attilan. Over time, genetic anomalies arose, causing mutations and ailments upon Terrigen exposure. The Skrulls, sharing a mutual adversary in the Kree and possessing advanced genetic knowledge, allied with the Inhumans. Through their research, they mitigated the genetic instabilities plaguing Inhuman transformations.

Black Bolt, with a voice capable of immense destruction, responded softly, yet his words resonated powerfully throughout Attilan, "The Inhumans remember: the Kree's betrayal and the Skrulls' aid. Our alliance stands, but not without scrutiny."
