Chapter 215: Chapter 215: Symbiosis
A portion of the magic particles surrounding the tapeworm exploded. The sheer number of these particles scattered through the air easily exceeded ten thousand, and each particle, though only the size of a grain of rice, carried the destructive force of an intercontinental missile.
The sudden explosion was not something to be underestimated.
A massive shockwave spread through the otherworldly space, accompanied by the sharp, piercing screech of the tapeworm.
Wanda had been keeping an eye on what was happening outside. The moment the cosmic tapeworm was attacked, a distinct change appeared on Galacta's face.
"Are you okay? What's wrong?" Wanda asked. After all, the creature was a parasitic tapeworm around her age. If it suffered damage, there was a chance it could endanger Galacta's life as well.
Galacta frowned slightly. She didn't feel any pain, but the strange expression on her face was because she had sensed a significant amount of her energy vanishing in an instant.
It was as if someone had attacked her, forcing her to use her own energy to defend herself. And it wasn't a trivial amount—just now, she had lost about 2 to 3 percent of her total energy.
That was a considerable loss all at once. Normally, Galacta strictly controlled her energy usage, ensuring that her daily consumption never exceeded 0.1 percent. This way, she wouldn't become hungry too quickly.
Besides, now that she was in the general store, she had Han Yu's energy pellets to rely on, so she wasn't too concerned about energy depletion.
If this had happened in the past, losing 2 to 3 percent of her energy in an instant would have been routine. After all, she had to constantly fly through space, engage in battles, and search for suitable food.
Not everything in the universe was edible—most things were massive in size but contained little energy. This was why she and Uncle Devourer were always scouring the cosmos for sustenance.
But losing this much energy so suddenly? That was unusual.
"I think something's wrong," Galacta said. "When you attacked that tapeworm just now, the energy it used came from my body. No—actually, it's more like we share the same energy reserve."
Both of them were quick thinkers and immediately grasped the connection. It was possible to eliminate the tapeworm, but doing so would undoubtedly inflict significant harm on Galacta.
And the upper limit of that damage? Neither of them had any idea. All they knew was that it wouldn't be minor.
"Why don't we ask Han Yu?" Wanda suggested. "He has a conch shell that can answer all kinds of questions. We can borrow it to figure this out."
Galacta blinked in surprise. "There's something that convenient? Let's go, let's ask him!"
The two of them headed to Han Yu's room. At that moment, he was playing a mobile game. The only PC game he still played was GTA, which he had already sunk over a thousand hours into in his previous life.
The only reason he continued playing it in this life was because he was now somewhat of a developer himself, adding features he had always wanted. Plus, Ultron and Quicksilver had been pestering him to play, which kept him engaged for a while.
But after so long, he was starting to enjoy mobile games as well.
"You two done talking?"
Seeing Wanda and Galacta enter his room together, Han Yu looked at them curiously.
"It's like this..." Wanda explained to Han Yu everything that had just happened in Galacta's room.
After she finished, both she and Galacta noticed the serious expression that had appeared on Han Yu's face.
Suddenly, a feeling of having done something wrong crept into their hearts. They exchanged glances but remained silent, slightly lowering their heads while keeping an eye on Han Yu's expression from the corners of their eyes.
Without hesitation, Han Yu closed his game and tossed his phone aside. He jumped off the bed and quickly walked over to Galacta. Ignoring the slight flush of surprise on her face, he took hold of her wrist.
A stream of green energy flowed from his hand into Galacta's subspace. Upon seeing the tapeworm inside, he stepped forward to examine it, paying no mind to its struggles as he carefully inspected the rest of its body.
"Fortunately, it's not injured," Han Yu murmured to himself, breathing a quiet sigh of relief. Exiting the subspace, his serious expression remained unchanged. In an unusually solemn tone, he said, "I can tell you where this tapeworm inside Galacta came from. We don't need the magical conch."
"Galacta, you've never met your mother, have you?" Han Yu asked, looking directly at her.
"No, I haven't... Why do you ask?" Galacta was puzzled by the sudden question.
Han Yu nodded and continued, "Actually, just like your father, you don't have 'parents' in the conventional sense. Strictly speaking, your father isn't really your father—he was simply your previous host."
"Previous host?"
Wanda and Galacta exchanged glances at the unfamiliar term. At first, confusion flickered in their eyes, but as they followed Han Yu's train of thought, realization dawned upon them. Their eyes widened slightly before, in perfect unison, they exclaimed:
"I'm/Galacta is the tapeworm inside the body of the Devourer of Worlds?!"
Han Yu responded with a gesture that sent a shiver down their spines—he gave them a firm, serious nod.
"You've got to be kidding me..." Galacta muttered in disbelief.
Han Yu shook his head helplessly. "This is the truth. That tapeworm isn't an ordinary parasite; it's a cosmic entity just like you. You felt it yourself just now—when Wanda attacked the tapeworm, you experienced energy loss. That's because the tapeworm was drawing from your reserves to defend itself."
Galacta opened her mouth but couldn't find any words to say.
She had never even considered this possibility. She had thought it was just a powerful parasite—never once did she imagine it was a being that had existed alongside her all this time.
"Does that mean there's no way to get rid of it? I really don't want this thing inside me..." Galacta stared at Han Yu pitifully, her eyes practically pleading.
Han Yu, however, simply chuckled. "I don't have a direct way to remove it, but we can go talk to your father. In fact, I've been meaning to propose a trade with him."
At the mention of a trade, a sharp glint flickered in Han Yu's eyes. If he could pull this off, it would be monumental.
"A trade? What are you planning?" Wanda asked. The Devourer of Worlds was an ancient godlike being. She knew Han Yu was powerful, but strong enough to negotiate with such an entity? That was hard to believe.
Han Yu fixed his gaze on Galacta and declared,
"I plan to offer the Devourer of Worlds a stable food source. In return, he must protect Earth!"
Galacta was stunned by the idea. But after thinking it through, she realized—this deal just might work!
