Chapter 105: Chapter 105 Gwen’s Favor
[Peter entered the classroom and took his seat behind Gwen, slightly to her left. Gwen turned her head to look at him.]
["I think you did a great job!" she said, offering Peter a warm smile. After a brief pause, she added, "A little silly... but great!"]
[Peter, feeling embarrassed in front of his dream girl, kept his gaze fixed straight ahead, unable to meet her eyes.]
["You should go to the infirmary. You might have a concussion," Gwen advised with genuine concern.]
[Hearing her words, Peter looked at her in surprise, and Gwen also smiled sweetly at him. ]
["What's your name?" Gwen asked suddenly. Peter Parker had been invisible for so long that his name didn't come to mind immediately.]
["You don't know my name?" Peter asked, startled.]
["No! I know your name!" Gwen quickly corrected herself, flustered. "I just want to see if you still know it!"]
[Gwen realized her words sounded odd and quickly tried to recover. Peter, staring into her eyes, finally said, "Peter... Parker. Peter Parker."]
["Good!" Gwen nodded with approval before turning her attention back to the podium.]
[Peter was somewhat delighted to be able to talk to Gwen, and he seemed to have a very favorable impression of her, and he couldn't help but glance at her from time to time.]
["You really should go to the infirmary," Gwen said again, turning back toward him with a pen in hand. Her tone made it clear she genuinely cared about his well-being.]
["Your name is Gwen, right?" Peter asked, as if confirming it for himself. Being this close to his goddess for the first time made him feel nervous.]
["Gwen Stacy," she introduced herself with a radiant smile.]
["Okay," Peter replied instinctively, nodding despite already knowing her name.]
"She's an amazing girl—kind, beautiful, and intelligent. She helps her classmates with homework, which shows her high IQ, and she handles awkward situations with emotional intelligence."
"And he has a high emotional intelligence. If he says something wrong, he can correct it immediately so as not to make the situation too embarrassing."
Citizens watching couldn't help but admire Gwen. Compared to Toby's Gwen Stacy, Garfield's Gwen Stacy seemed even more exceptional because of the additional details revealed.
"She is a good girl, Peter, you must protect her well! Don't let her get hurt!" Uncle Ben clearly remembered what The Screen said at the beginning.
The screen showed the first Spider-Man watching his best friend die, while the second Spider-Man held his dying girlfriend in his arms.
If this Peter was the second Spider-Man, he might face the heartbreak of losing Gwen Stacy. Uncle Ben hoped this Peter could avoid such a fate, though he wasn't sure if Toby's universe had resolved the tragedy of Harry's death.
The screen seemed to hint at a doomed love between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. 1st Gen Spider-man's-Man and Gwen weren't destined to be together, so perhaps the second Spider-Man's separation by death referred to Peter and Gwen.
Peter, sharp as always, picked up on the implication. He glanced at Uncle Ben and nodded silently.
Harry, watching from the sidelines, thought to himself, Peter, when I come back, I'll never let you get hurt again!
"Peter Parker..." George Stacy muttered the name with a complex expression. He, like the others, understood the potential tragedy looming over his daughter and Peter.
"What should I do?" George muttered, conflicted about whether he should intervene if the two grew closer.
"Captain, I think they look like a good match," one of his subordinates offered.
George shot him a glare, then booted him from the office. Alone, he pondered his next steps.
[Peter returned home to find Aunt May busy in the kitchen. He greeted her warmly.]
["I'm making spaghetti and meatballs tonight!" Aunt May announced without looking up.]
[Hearing this, Peter said in disbelief: "No way? Spaghetti and meatballs?"]
[Aunt May heard what he said and was very puzzled by Peter Parker's sudden picky eating: "Since when did you stop liking spaghetti and meatballs?"]
[Unbeknownst to her, Peter had seen Gordon humiliated with the same dish earlier, which now left a bad taste in his mind.]
[As Peter grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge, Aunt May noticed the bruise on his face. "Oh my goodness!"]
[After hearing her exclamation, Peter didn't know that she had seen the injury on his face, "What's wrong?"]
["Your face! What happened?" Aunt May demanded, clearly worried he'd been in a fight.]
[Not wanting to worry her, Peter quickly lied. "I fell while skateboarding. It's nothing, really!"]
[Uncle Ben entered the kitchen carrying a dusty cardboard box. Aunt May immediately intervened, "Ben Parker! Don't even think about putting that filthy thing in my kitchen!"]
["These are the trophies I won for bowling!" Uncle Ben explained.]
[Aunt May, relenting slightly, sighed. "Fine, but keep that dirty thing out of my way!"]
[After placing the box down, Uncle Ben noticed the bruise on Peter's face. "What happened to you?" he asked with concern.]
["He fell down! Why are you kids playing with those things?" Aunt May said. She did not doubt Peter's words.]
[Uncle Ben wasn't convinced by Peter's excuse, though he chose not to call him out in front of Aunt May. Instead, he chuckled, "Kids and their skateboards. Remember the dumb things we did when we were their age?"]
["I don't remember!" Aunt May huffed, rolling her eyes. She didn't appreciate Uncle Ben bringing up her antics in front of Peter.]
["Believe me, we were like this when we were young!" Uncle Ben said to Peter earnestly.]
["Okay! Thank you for telling me!" Aunt May complained about Uncle Ben bringing up those old stories. ]
Uncle Ben bends down and picks up the box again. He can see that Aunt May doesn't want such a dirty box in the kitchen.
[Peter saw Uncle Ben's bare feet with a lot of water stains on them, and couldn't help asking: " Hey! What happened? Where is the flood?"]
["Come on, I'll show you!" Uncle Ben replied, leading Peter out of the room.]
["Really?"]
["Yes!" Uncle Ben said with a grin.]
["Alright," Peter agreed, following him, leaving Aunt May to finish cooking.]
