Chapter 83: Chapter 83
On a sunny afternoon, Luke swaggered into the main entrance of the Osborne Building.
No one could see him.
The Mechanic's disguise—an optical cloaking device crafted from cutting-edge celestial technology—was honestly overkill for simple burglary.
Luke found the private elevator with ease and pressed the button for floor B19.
This elevator was reserved for senior employees, and at this time, it was empty.
The elevator carried him down to the 19th underground floor, the core area of the Osborne Building, where Ross had discovered a secret laboratory.
This lab had been uncovered because its security clearance was so high that only Norman Osborn himself had access.
Luke, who already knew the plot, didn't have to guess—he was certain this was the right place.
For ordinary people, breaking into this lab was nearly impossible.
Once inside, you could enter, but not leave. The researchers here had to be Osborn's most trusted confidants, eliminating any external leaks.
The entrance was locked down with layers of security—fingerprint recognition, a pupil scan, and an ID card check, all backed by live security guards.
But the heavier the security, the more proof that what he was looking for—spider venom—was hidden here.
Luke remembered that in order to develop the spider toxin, Peter Parker's father had burned through hundreds of billions of Norman Osborn's dollars.
The Osborn family had a serious, life-threatening genetic disease. The spider toxin altered human genes and had a high probability of repairing the Osborns' defective ones.
That alone showed how much Norman Osborn valued spider venom.
Luke wouldn't have been surprised if the security here was doubled.
Hell, even if it were ten times tighter, he'd still have gotten in just as easily.
Just like now.
Ross's pleasant voice came through his earpiece. "Master, the path ahead is clear. There's just one guy at the corner fifteen meters away—don't bump into him."
Luke moved like a ghost through the lab's quiet corridors. With Ross guiding him, security measures were nothing but a joke.
Whenever they encountered someone, Ross would find a way to divert their attention, giving Luke the perfect window to slip by unnoticed.
It was Luke's first time playing stealth, and his heartbeat quickened. He focused on slowing his breathing.
"Turn left. Do you see that man, Master?"
Luke gave a slight nod.
Ross continued, "I'll lure him away."
Luke watched as the bulky, armed guard across from him pressed his earpiece, seemingly receiving orders. A moment later, the guard nodded and walked away.
"Master, you have ten seconds to enter that door."
Luke immediately strode forward. The door opened automatically for him. Smooth as silk.
"Master, the lab is just ahead. The thing you're looking for is in the cold storage room at the end of the corridor. Walk five steps straight, then turn left."
Luke nodded to show he understood.
As he moved through the lab, he passed several researchers in white coats.
Then, unexpectedly, he ran into someone.
Or rather, a little boy—probably around seven years old.
The kid was sitting at the entrance of a lab, playing with a remote-controlled car, completely oblivious to the world around him. The passing researchers ignored him and even seemed friendly.
Even when the little boy rolled his eyes at them.
Then suddenly—CRASH!
Luke stopped abruptly.
Hurried footsteps followed as two researchers in white coats rushed over.
The boy's remote-controlled car had slammed into a glass counter inside the lab, sending electronic equipment scattering across the floor.
"Harry, are you okay?"
The concerned voice came from a middle-aged man in a white coat, his expensive suit pants and polished leather shoes visible underneath.
Harry Osborn?
Luke glanced at the boy before shifting his gaze to the man.
Could this be Norman Osborn?
What a damn coincidence—running into the old Green Goblin here.
Young Master Harry was clearly spoiled rotten. Instead of blaming his toy, he scolded the researchers for putting the counter in his car's path.
Luke grimaced. "Brat."
He had hated annoying kids in his past life.
Norman Osborn took little Harry's hand and led him out of the lab. Two generations of Osborns passed by Luke without even noticing him.
Once they were gone, Luke continued following Ross's instructions.
Everything went down smoothly.
Luke secured the spider venom with zero effort.
Ross confirmed that it was the original sample of Norman Osborn's experimental spider toxin.
This was the key to unlocking Spider-Man.
Whether Osborn would notice the missing sample later wasn't Luke's problem.
With his mission complete, he didn't linger. He retraced his steps and exited without a hitch.
It had to be said—having an AI like Ross made infiltration missions ridiculously easy.
The Next Day
After school, Luke walked Peter Parker home.
On the way, Luke kept staring at Peter with a weird look, making the kid nervous. "Dude, what's up?"
Once they entered Luke's bedroom, he shut the door behind them.
In his hand was a syringe.
Luke casually steered their conversation toward random topics, keeping it natural.
As always, they ended up talking about heroes.
Peter had always dreamed of becoming a superhero—someone the world admired.
He longed to be extraordinary.
He wanted to soar through the sky like Luke.
He wanted to use his strength to help others.
Luke understood Spider-Man better than Peter himself did.
As Spider-Man always said—he was the "friendly neighborhood" type.
Well, if both of them were on board with this idea…
Luke was about to stab him, no hesitation.
Just in case, he had a universal antidote ready. If something went wrong, he wasn't about to let little Parker drop dead.
While Peter was rambling, dancing around the room, completely distracted—
Luke jabbed the syringe into the kid's neck.
"Ow! Something bit me!" Peter yelped, clutching his neck, eyes wide.
"I saw it! There, on the floor!" Luke pointed dramatically. "It ran off!"
"What was it?!"
"A spider."
"A… A SPIDER?!" Peter went pale.
Luke nodded solemnly. "Yup. Looked nasty too."
Peter looked around in panic, visibly shaken. He hated spiders.
"Looks like it got away, man." Luke shrugged.
Then he locked onto Peter's expression, watching intently for any changes.
"How do you feel?"
Peter rubbed his head. "Oh, man… I feel kinda… dizzy…"
The second the word "dizzy" left his mouth, Peter's eyes rolled back, and he collapsed onto Luke's bed.
Across the room, inside the fish tank, Ross yawned in boredom after watching the whole thing unfold.
