Marvel: DNF Invades

Chapter 86: Chapter 86

The next day, Luke finally made time to deal with the problem of his tenant in the warehouse.

When he walked into the warehouse, he saw Skye squatting quietly in the glass cell, looking down at her cell phone.

Before coming here, Skye never imagined that she would be imprisoned by the Apostles—and for five whole days!

During these five days, the Apostles ignored her, and no matter how much she screamed at the top of her lungs, no one answered.

Except for an automatic mechanical arm that delivered food at regular intervals, she hadn't seen another living soul. She had no idea where the Apostles were or what was happening outside.

At first, Skye had been excited.

She never expected that this time, she would discover the Apostle by following seemingly unrelated clues!

She had prepared dozens—maybe even hundreds—of questions to ask the Apostle once she saw him.

But that night, the massive mecha had flown back on its own, yet the Apostle himself was nowhere to be seen.

Hours turned into days, and no one came.

She had been completely forgotten.

The only solace she had was that they hadn't taken her phone away.

Not that it did her any good.

She had tried everything. The signal bars were full, yet she couldn't connect to the internet. No matter what she did, it was like the warehouse was in a digital dead zone. Even her skills as a hacker couldn't crack whatever was blocking her.

And then there was the glass cell—solid, unbreakable. The only things in there were four walls and a stainless steel basin.

Damn it!

That was the phrase Skye muttered to herself the most over the past five days.

This damn place was a nightmare for a hacker like her. No connection, no escape, no human contact.

If she stayed much longer, she feared she'd go insane.

"Ahem."

A voice echoed from outside the cell.

Skye's head snapped up.

A short Asian boy stood at the entrance to the warehouse, looking at her with an unreadable expression.

She had expected some intimidating figure in black ops gear, maybe an ex-military type.

Not this.

Not a child.

Her first instinct was to laugh.

She slapped her palm against the glass and called out, "Hey! Help me out here! I've been locked up by some bad guys! Let me out!"

The boy's expression didn't change. He walked up to the cell, stopping just a few feet away.

"I'm the bad guy you're talking about."

Skye froze.

Her mouth opened slightly, her brain struggling to process what she just heard.

"You…?"

"I am the Apostle."

Silence.

Skye blinked. Her lips parted, as if she wanted to say something, but no words came out.

Then she laughed. "Don't mess with me… You? No way—"

Luke snapped his fingers.

A few feet away, the eyes of the War Lord mecha lit up instantly.

Something inside Skye's mind shattered.

She stood there, dumbfounded, unable to move.

The Apostle... was a child?!

She stared at Luke as if seeing a ghost.

Luke was already used to this reaction by now.

He gave a calm order, "Christina, open the door."

Click.

The cell door—sealed shut for five days—opened.

Skye's gaze drifted to the stainless steel basin in the corner.

Full.

She let out a long breath, unable to believe what was happening. Slowly, she stepped out of the glass cell.

And then—ding!

Her phone vibrated. A notification appeared.

Finally, she was back online.

Luke, however, had already turned away. He walked toward a nearby tea cabinet, motioning to a chair.

"Please, sit down."

Skye hesitated, then followed.

Luke continued, "What would you like to drink? I have milk, mineral water, and tea. Sorry, I don't have coffee. Since it's already evening, I'd recommend tea. We have a lot to discuss."

Skye's eyes flickered toward the warehouse door. She quickly calculated her chances of escape.

...Zero.

Resigned, she sat down. "Uh, anything's fine."

"Do you take sugar in your tea? I have sugar cubes, rock sugar, and maltose."

Skye gave him a weird look. "No sugar, thanks."

Then, casually, she lifted her phone and snapped a picture of Luke's face.

"Would you like milk with it? I have skim, whole, and half-fat."

Skye's eye twitched.

"..."

She thought, Damn, this kid talks a lot. No one on the internet knows the Apostle is this chatty.

If Luke knew what she was thinking, he'd probably say: You should've seen me before. I've improved a lot.

Her fingers flew over her phone, typing rapidly. Within seconds, she found what she was looking for.

She turned the screen toward Luke, smirking.

"Luke Nelson? Can I call you LN? Or should I keep calling you Apostle?"

On the screen was Luke's official citizen file.

LN—Luke Nelson.

Luke took a sip of his milk. He didn't even blink.

"Oh. So you found my information. But it's useless."

Skye raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"

Luke leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers against his glass. "Government records are for cops and civilians."

Skye chuckled. "That's true."

She glanced at his photo again. It was surreal. The fair-skinned, harmless-looking kid in the file… was the same one piloting a massive war machine.

"Skye, can I call you that?" Luke asked.

He placed a cup of tea in front of her and sat down with his own.

Unlike her, he was drinking milk—hot, straight from the cup.

His small hands barely fit around the glass, and when he put it down, there was a faint milk mustache on his lips.

Skye gave a small nod. She wasn't surprised he knew her name.

"Did the Rising Tide send you?" Luke asked, straight to the point.

Skye sighed. "You know about them? Of course, you do. Look, I'm not really a core member, just a… peripheral one."

"Oh."

Luke took another sip, as if he wasn't particularly impressed.

"The Rising Tide is a global hacker network," Skye said. "I'd advise you not to mess with them."

Luke smirked. "It's just a hacker group. If I wanted to, I could have them all arrested within a week."

Skye scoffed, clearly not believing him.

She folded her arms. "This isn't about the Rising Tide. I was just curious. I followed a trail, and it led me here. That's it. It was my mistake."

She placed her tea back on the table, her expression turning serious.

"This was a misunderstanding. I won't tell anyone about this place. Just let me go."
