Chapter 90: Chapter 90
"What's this?"
Skye spotted Ross and looked as if she had just discovered a new continent.
A strange-looking mollusk?
Curious, she walked up for a closer look.
"This is my pet. It's a genetically modified octopus from a lab. You'd better stay away from it—be careful, it might bite. I brought it out because those guys in the lab wanted to slice it up."
Luke deliberately emphasized the word "slice."
"Hiss..." Skye had just stretched out her hand but quickly retracted it. "Okay."
Ross remained silent, looking as obedient as ever: I don't speak.
The news was still playing on the TV. On the screen was the last bright fireball launched toward the moon that night.
"Cool." Skye looked surprised, her mouth half open.
She had been locked up here for the past few days and had just found out what was happening outside. She couldn't help but raise the risk factor of this organization in her mind, feeling a lot of pressure in her chest.
But for the sake of artificial intelligence, she decided to stay.
"Did they hit the moon?" Skye asked when the TV switched to another image.
"Shouldn't be... no? There should be some energy loss. The moon is so far away." Luke thought for a moment. He hadn't even noticed if it hit the moon at the time.
Skye nodded. "That's true."
The screen switched to footage of the battle between the Apostle and Iron Man.
The so-called military expert in the studio was explaining things with confidence, analyzing the Apostle mecha's strong exotic design. Based on its style, he speculated that the Apostle was not American but a foreigner.
The expert then called on Americans to support their own superhero, Iron Man, and resist the foreign Apostle.
Skye scoffed in disdain after hearing that.
She explained that American TV had a lot of people like this—sensationalists who exaggerated everything, played devil's advocate, and tried to gain power through controversy. The American audience had long grown used to them.
Skye turned to Luke. "Don't mind them."
She was worried Luke might get pissed and bomb the TV station.
But Luke wasn't even paying attention.
He was watching himself from a third-person perspective on TV, realizing how damn cool he looked.
The Sword King Dragon God was painted in sleek black and gold—low-key yet luxurious. The red cape fluttered in the wind, and his sword-wielding stance was textbook-perfect.
It was beyond cool.
Skye glanced at him. "Do you have a grudge against Tony Stark?"
"No." Luke was still admiring himself.
"I thought you two were rivals."
"Emmmm... It's just a natural clash," Luke said after some thought.
He would never admit he was using Tony as a training dummy.
But let's be real—since he created Gale and Warlord, he needed someone to test their firepower, right?
At this stage, who in Marvel was more suitable to be a punching bag than Tony?
Hulk was in hiding—untouchable for now.
Captain America was still frozen—needed a kiss to wake up.
Thor was chilling in Asgard—rarely seen.
Black Widow and Hawkeye? Not even a challenge.
Tony, on the other hand, was perfect. He was always around, always ready to fight, and, most importantly, he could take a beating.
He was basically a supernova in the sandbag world.
Skye didn't see it that way, though.
She was convinced that Iron Man had targeted the Apostle. The two were bound to be old enemies. Eventually, they'd have to duke it out in an all-out battle.
Bingo. The finale.
She had to dig into artificial intelligence and uncover its secrets before that happened.
"Assistant, what do you think of this body shape? Do you like it?"
"Listen to the master."
"Alright, this is it."
It took less than twenty minutes to complete the human skeleton model through three-dimensional simulation.
Once the bone structure was finalized, it could be cast using a titanium alloy mold.
However, considering the remaining amount of adamantium, Luke ultimately chose a little girl's body for Christina.
A little girl is fine. She'll grow up in the future.
Christina designed and laid out the internal sensors and circuits while Luke provided technical support.
Celestial Technology was once again making strides. The old mechanical assistant aircraft head had long been abandoned, but now it was refurbished, waiting to be installed inside the skull. Christina handled all of it.
"I suggest you download Wing Chun, Taekwondo, Free Fighting, and Judo into your memory drive. Pick whichever you like."
"What kind of master are you?"
"I can't teach you what I know. It's faster for you to learn online than from me."
"Then let's go with Wing Chun and Taekwondo."
"Okay." Luke nodded.
Once this body was built, Christina would become a fighting force—his bodyguard when necessary.
"Learn how to shoot a gun too."
"Yes, Master."
"An AI that knows martial arts? No one will be able to stop it!" Luke laughed.
His mind wandered further—should he also teach Christina swordsmanship? Maybe craft her a custom blade so she could be a young swordswoman?
Or maybe, once he extracted the gunner skills, he could equip Christina with Wang Xiaomei's charged laser cannon?
A normal person couldn't even hold such a massive laser cannon. Luke himself could only use it inside a mecha. But with Christina's alloy body? No problem at all.
Cannon Girl. Now that would be a look.
"What are you doing?" Skye wandered over, curious.
"Building Christina's body."
"Oh my god... you're bold! Are you sure this is okay?" Skye asked, surprised. "It's really dangerous to give an AI a physical body. After all, AI isn't human… Sorry, Christina, I don't mean to offend you."
"It doesn't matter."
"What I mean is, won't this cause issues with human ethics?" Skye pressed.
Luke snorted. "Who cares?"
"..."
Well, Skye had no rebuttal. This organization was completely lawless.
She sighed. God knows when they'd make headlines again. Compared to their usual level of destruction, creating a secondary body for an AI seemed like nothing.
---
Half an hour later.
Inside the mecha dock, an alloy human skeleton in the shape of a little girl had cooled and solidified.
It used the same technology as the Warlord—titanium alloy on the inside with a thin layer of adamantium coating. The last of their adamantium reserves had just run out, and they were now waiting for S.H.I.E.L.D. to deliver another batch.
Looking at the metallic skeleton shimmering under the lights, Luke suddenly felt like he was creating a Terminator.
"The flesh issue is tricky," he muttered. "If only I could get the puppet-making skill in DNF… Then, no worries about realism. For now, I'll have to improvise. Speaking of which, which Marvel tech is best for bionic bodies? Emmmm… If nothing else works, I might have to rely on Japanese products."
Skye, watching him mutter with growing concern for humanity, gulped.
---
Elsewhere.
At the site of the recent battle, workers were repairing the fountain square. S.H.I.E.L.D. was footing the bill, and overtime shifts meant the project was moving fast.
Nearby buildings were also being restored, replacing all the shattered glass from that chaotic night. Roads had returned to normal.
The collapsed exhibition hall, however, was beyond saving—it was being demolished and rebuilt from scratch. After getting sliced in half by a certain someone's sword, there was no hope of fixing it.
Meanwhile, on a road between the square and the venue, a commotion broke out.
Passing vehicles swerved to avoid an unusually large bulldog.
This wasn't an ordinary bulldog—it was dozens of times larger than a normal one.
Even stranger, a little blonde girl stood beside it.
Passersby raised their phones, capturing the bizarre scene.
Crystal stood in the middle of the road, oblivious to the traffic she was blocking.
She gazed up at the massive electronic billboard displaying the news.
A giant mecha, unleashing a fireball at the moon.
"Tetanus, can you take me to this person?" she asked, patting the big dog's leg.
Tetanus hesitated, then nodded.
Crystal grinned sweetly and placed her small hand on the strange dog.
With a whirlpool-like distortion, both of them vanished into thin air.
The crowd erupted in chaos.
People scrambled to dial 911.
