Chapter 91: Chapter 91

Chapter 91: Christina's Adventure Team

Maybe it was because Skye was half Chinese, but the two of them had a lot in common and always found something to talk about when they were together.

Luke stood on the scaffolding platform, working on modifying the War Lord. Skye looked up at him, then at the mecha, her eyes filled with disbelief.

"It's hard to believe that you built this all by yourself. What is that?"

Luke glanced down and saw she was examining the flamethrower located... in a rather unfortunate position on the War Lord.

Skye had a weird expression on her face.

"The M-3 flamethrower can spray flames up to three meters long and four meters wide. It's the secondary weapon of the mecha," Luke replied.

Skye rolled her eyes helplessly. "Why the hell is it installed there?"

"You could build tanks, planes, and even rockets. Those seem more lethal," she pointed out.

Luke smirked. "Mechas are a man's romance. You wouldn't get it. The sheer mechanical presence, the destructive power—it makes every man's blood boil and hormones surge."

"A man?" Skye snorted, amused. "Just a little guy like you? Please, you're just a brat."

"Who are you calling a little guy? Ever seen a Yordle?" Luke shot back.

"Yordle?"

"Carry me down."

Skye reached up and caught him, bringing him down effortlessly.

She chuckled. "You're so small that sometimes I forget you're an Apostle."

"Don't worry, gorgeous. Still growing," Luke said, putting down the wrench and clapping his hands. He raised an eyebrow playfully.

"Who's in a hurry?" Skye rolled her eyes again. "Where the hell did you learn this smooth-talking crap, kid?"

Luke just shrugged. He was starting to think women just loved rolling their eyes. Then, he snapped his fingers.

The War Lord's eyes suddenly lit up, accompanied by a cool "clang" sound, making the whole effect feel straight out of an anime.

"Perfect!" Luke grinned.

He walked over to the computer, checking the complex readings displayed on the screen. Everything was normal.

"Ross, how many projects are currently running? How much computing power do you have left?" Luke asked suddenly.

A smiling face appeared on the screen—long burgundy hair, an oval face, big lively eyes. Her voice came from the speakers.

"Master, there are currently six teams in the adventure group carrying out missions. My computing power is unlimited."

"I almost forgot. You can tap into computers worldwide to help with the workload. Just be careful not to get caught when using supercomputers."

"Please don't worry, Master," Ross said, narrowing her eyes in a playful smile.

Luke nodded.

The "Adventure Group" Ross referred to was a small game-like interface she had designed, called Adventure Group Expedition. It was just a way to visually track research progress.

Each time a team of little pixelated adventurers went on a mission, it represented a real research project being launched. Ross used supercomputers from all over the world to secretly handle Luke's private projects.

The first project: The Pacific Rim Project.

This plan aimed to develop the perfect mecha operating system, evolving from keyboard-based control to joystick-and-pedal-based, with the ultimate goal of achieving full brainwave control.

Luke enjoyed the current cockpit setup—lying down and piloting with a joystick—but he was hyped to unlock new ways to control the War Lord. In a few months, he could reach full human-machine integration.

Estimated completion time: 5 months and 3 days.

"Ross, show all project progress," Luke commanded.

Ross immediately displayed the six active research projects on the screen.

In addition to the Pacific Rim Project, there were five others:

The Curry Stick Project

The Leader Project

The Red Cube Project

The Bug Project

The 2B Project

Curry Stick Project: Developing blueprints for the Shadowless Sword—Eleno, running scaling experiments to make it suitable for the War Lord mecha.

The Shadowless Sword—Eleno came from the loot he took from Rotus.

Length: Unknown. Width: Unknown.

So far, he had only managed to produce a hilt—no blade.

It was a bit like a lightsaber from Star Wars—activated by the hilt to generate a tangible yet invisible sword.

Why an epic weapon was mixed in with a bunch of random artifacts, Luke had no idea. But when he found it, he picked it without hesitation.

He also wanted the legendary Meteor Fall sword, but that would have to wait for another time.

For a swordsman, what could be scarier to an opponent than an invisible sword?

Last time in battle, Tony had managed to predict his sword swings just by analyzing his movements.

And this was the Marvel world—full of tech geniuses and magic users. More people in the future would be able to calculate his attack trajectory.

An invisible sword would fix that. No trace, no warning, just death.

Estimated completion time: 13 days.

---

The Leader Project: Researching whether the Soul-Eating Hand could be safely used in regular combat.

The Soul-Eating Hand was an insane discovery.

Not only could it absorb human blood, but it could also drain energy.

Luke was still trying to figure out all the quirks of the skills granted by the system. No instruction manual—just trial and error.

But now, he knew the pros and cons of the Soul-Eating Hand.

Pros:

It could absorb nearly anything—blood, energy, and possibly even more.

The absorption speed was insane—Mark VI had been sucked dry in an instant.

Unlimited potential in a universe like Marvel, where everything ran on energy.

Cons:

Everything absorbed had to pass through his body.

That was dangerous as hell.

If the system hadn't auto-regulated the energy influx, he could've exploded and died on the spot.

Even now, the thought gave him chills.

Yeah, he had resurrection coins, but still—who the hell wanted to die if they could avoid it?

He didn't even know what would really happen after death.

Would the resurrection coin fail? Would it have side effects?

What if he did resurrect, but lost his memories? His personality?

There were no guarantees.

So, until it was absolutely safe, Luke wasn't planning to use the Soul-Eating Hand carelessly again.

Ross was running simulations, testing every possible scenario to make sure the skill could be safely used in battle.

Estimated completion time: Indefinite.
