Marvel DxD: The New Sorcerer Supreme

Chapter 48: Ch. 48 - The pack of Werewolves!

Once the contract was settled with the blood of Chamber and Alaric, the vampires, albeit a bit hesitant, started to leave through the portal Chamber created.

However, there is always that one stubborn individual among them.

"I don't accept this! How can a mere servant initiate a contract, instead of me, the Tepes faction's leader!" Damien, who has been staying quiet until now, finally stepped out and accused Alaric.

"Lord Damien, please don't make a fuss now. We'll talk about this later." Alaric sternly replied, giving Damien a short glare which was enough to shock the young vampire.

Not only did Alaric disregard that he was supposed to be called Lord Dracula, but his mere servant even had the audacity to shut him up.

'Looks like this is the first time he was actually scolded by someone he considers below him.' On the sidelines, Chamber watched this spectacle with amused eyes.

"Y-You!" Damien pointed his shaky finger towards Alaric but was unable to form any words to use against him.

Alaric, knowing the importance of what he's doing, can't afford any mishaps, hence his disrespect towards Damien.

'Doesn't matter if he becomes mad. I'm doing this for the entirety of our vampire face.' Alaric whispered under his breath with a grim expression.

"We'll talk about this later, Lord Damien." With one final glare toward Damien, Alaric shifted his focus back to Chamber and gave him a grateful nod.

"We'll be on our way now, Sorcerer Supreme," Alaric said, acknowledging an assumption that Chamber is a master of magic after Chamber introduced himself as Sorcerer Supreme earlier.

Instead of answering, Chamber simply watched Alaric grab Damien who was about to throw a tantrum, and left through the portal that leads to a few miles away from the village.

There's a reason why he insisted on this kind of approach by establishing a contract with the Tepes faction even if he has the advantages.

First of all, his reserves are already half, and not to mention that there are still hundreds of vampires, he miscalculated Alaric's strength, assuming that the vampire was just a simple High-class vampire whom he could wipe the ground.

Lastly, he prefers this way as he has a big plan to deal with the vampires in the future.

No doubt that the trick on the contract about the punishment being only applicable to Alaric would be discovered in the future, and even if he doesn't, there's still a way to break the contract such as Alaric's death.

As Alaric is the one who pledged on the contract, obviously the contract's punishment will only be applied to him.

If he dies due to unknown causes or natural ways, the contract would become null.

If Chamber's prediction is right, then it might take decades for the former and latter to happen and by that time, his plans have already been set in motion.

And that plan is about Chamber growing his reputation in the Supernatural side of the world, similar to the Ancient One.

The reason why the mortal world in the Marvel Universe has mostly been untouched by the supernatural beings is because of the name of Ancient One that struck fear to the beings who wished to harm the Earth or the entire human race.

Sure the defense of the Earth against otherworldly beings are the three Sanctum Sanctorums but the real defense is actually herself.

That is what Chamber would strive to achieve, make his name known and feared across the entire universe.

As for the vampires, even if they do decide to make a move against him in the future, it would be too late for them as the Masters of the Mystic Arts would've grown large enough to fully protect mankind even without him.

Once the vampires are gone, Chamber stays for a while and analyzes the entire battle within his mind.

Without a doubt, his first mistake was using the Chrono Shift for the first time in a real battle instead of practicing it first. That's why when he realized that he actually used a hundred percent of its capabilities, it was already too late, and more than half of his reserves were sapped.

His last mistake is what he just said earlier, he miscalculated the strength of Alaric, the oldest vampire among them.

If he had known that Alaric was strong, he could've targeted him first before the rest using the Chrono Shift in one hundred percent.

'I could've handled that fight better.' Chamber muttered to himself before making a resolution to not underestimate his opponents in the future.

'I always thought that those who can hide their strengths are the ones I should consider as strong but it turns out, there are strong people out there who just don't bother hiding themselves.'

With that conclusion, Chamber left the Mirror Dimension and was brought back to the real village.

Appearing in the middle of the busy village, the people stopped for a moment before resuming their daily duties.

Thanks to his reputation as their protector and the fact that whenever old man Rad gets drunk and spreads the word about him and his magical tales, the villagers grow accustomed to him.

If Chamber wanted, he could assume the role of the village Chief and no one, not even the current village chief would complain. They might even happily give him the position.

Fortunately, Chamber does not desire such titles. Positions like those tend to become the center of the village's problems.

"Master! Are you okay? You were gone for almost an hour and we were prepared to evacuate the entire village!" Belle and Tam quickly rushed after him just as he got back, expressing their concern towards him as their master and savior.

"I'm fine, my students. It would take more than just a few vampires to cause me trouble." Chamber chuckled and patted their heads.

This was actually his last resort, just in case he encountered trouble with the vampires and fails to come back within an hour.

With Belle and Tam finally learning how to conjure their own portals, Chamber instructed them to start evacuating the villagers with the said portals if he doesn't come back after an hour.

"Let's head back inside and celebrate that the village survived the wrath of an entire vampire clan." Just as Chamber was about to walk inside with the two siblings, his long range senses suddenly picked up a few individuals with considerate strength ranging from Low to Mid-class strength, with only one of them being in High-class.

'God dammit, now what!' Cursing under his breath, he ushered the two to go inside first and proceeded to portal himself to the location of the said individuals.

"Are you sure this is the place, Remus, Lucian?" The alpha of their pack, Wallace, asked the twin werewolves while at the distant village.

The twins nodded their heads simultaneously, completely in sync.

"Good job, now all that's left is to meet this human who killed Lazarus and see if we can form alliance with them." Wallace muttered to himself and stepped forward to approach the village, following him were the remaining of their pack.

Or at least the last few fighters among their pack.

A few minutes later, Wallace and his pack arrived in front of the village gates, however due to their naked appearances, they draw quite a few looks towards themselves.

"Should we cover ourselves first if we want to blend in with the humans?" A brown haired man from behind, silently whispered to Wallace.

"Disguising is useless in this situation, Lupus. After all, we're not here for this humans but the rumored human wizard." Wallace responded and took a step forward to enter the village when suddenly, a golden translucent barrier appeared and repelled Wallace, throwing him away.

If it weren't for his companions catching him, he would've been thrown a good distance away from the barrier.

"W-What was that?!" Not only the werewolves, even the villagers themselves were surprised by it.

The twins, angered to see their alpha being harmed, quickly turned to their werewolf forms, earning a few collective gasps and screams from the villagers.

Before they could cause more harm, they were all swallowed by a large crack in space that disappeared soon after.

Chamber, who has been watching the entire event, nodded his head in satisfaction after seeing the effectiveness of the village's Defensive Barrier Rune.

However when he saw the werewolves' reactions, he immediately took action and casted another Mirror Dimension on them.

'I haven't fully recovered my reserves and here I am, potentially bringing myself to another fight. Wait…Why do I need to go after them during this state?' Just as Chamber was about to go in and talk with the newcomers.

He suddenly stopped in his tracks as realization dawned on him.

'Why do I need to go visit them now? When I could just delay for two hours to fully recover myself.'

Sighing and calling himself a once-in-a-lifetime genius, he portalled back to the farm house and slumped on the couch, taking a deep breath as he closed his eyes and felt his reserves slowly but surely recovering.

Thanks for unknown reasons, his demonic energy reserves recovery is tenfold faster than average, hence only two hours are needed for him to recover physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Conjuring a portal that leads to the Mirror Dimension, Chamber silently entered it to gauge the reactions of the werewolves.

Upon entering, the first thing he noticed was destruction. The entire village are almost razed upon, with only flames and rubbles being left.

On the center of it all are five werewolves searching around frantically.

Since the Mirror Dimension doesn't exactly replicate the entire universe as that is far beyond his current capabilities, the Mirror Dimension has a distance limit and going to the said limit won't technically bring you outside but just block you from going past the barrier.

It's like those old Grand Theft Auto games where a certain area in the map is locked and almost impossible to trespass.

"It's over! We're trapped here forever!" Lupus, the weakest among them, panicked while holding his head, his eyes darting around in fear and confusion.

The twins on the other hand, although they're in a better condition compared to Lupus, fear is still evident on their faces.

Only their alpha, Wallace, remained calm under this situation.

Coincidentally, as soon as Chamber arrived inside through the portal, Wallace sniffed in the air, his nose catching an unfamiliar scent from afar.

"The wizard must be here. I can smell him!" Hearing his words, the twins and Lupus all took a serious looks on their faces as caution and wariness appeared on their faces.

Whoever they're facing against, are extremely strong.

"You five really took a number on my lovely village, didn't you all?" Chamber took this opportunity to introduce himself.

Before the other werewolves could react to his entrance, the Alpha replied first, replying to Chamber's words.

"But this isn't the real world, isn't it?" Wallace stared at Chamber's eyes and said with full confidence.

"Oh? How did you figure it out?" Chamber, instead of being shocked, asked calmly.

"The words…" Wallace said, pointing at the texts around them such as the still-standing tavern where the name of the tavern in the plaque still intact.

However if one stared carefully, they would notice that the words are reversed or backward, a testament to the name of the spell, Mirror Dimension.
