Chapter 47: Ch. 47 - Vampire Massacre! [2]
Unfortunately for Chamber, the Chrono Shift consumes too much of his Demonic Energy. Only 5 minutes have passed in his perspective and half of his reserves have already been depleted.
'Maybe because I used it with a maximum input.' Chamber whispered under his breath, theorizing the reason behind the high consumption.
After all, according to the information in his mind that he received when he got the Chronos Requiem, he can adjust the time flow of his body, and he was using one hundred percent of the Chrono Shift, hence the extremely high consumption.
'No wonder even a High-class Vampire took 30 seconds to react.' Chamber concluded and decided to take it a bit slow, reducing the Chrono Shift from one hundred percent to ten percent.
Finally, not only was the consumption reduced significantly, almost like a drop every second, but the movement of the vampires increased, reaching their average speed, albeit they're still slower than normal.
"Y-You're not a normal human!" The remaining vampires, which had been reduced from thousands to mere hundreds, started to back away out of fear, looking at Chamber as if he were their biggest nightmare.
"Who said I was?" Chamber replied with a confused tone.
"That move must've consumed too much of his mana! Get him!" Finally, one smart vampire realized the reason why Chamber stopped and appeared in front of them instead of continuing his onslaught.
In which, the smart vampire was right.
"That's right! Get him! I want him dead and groveling on the ground!" The cowardly leader then came out from hiding behind Alaric and pointed at Chamber as if he was the one who figured it out.
The vampires didn't notice this or just probably didn't care and simply rushed towards Chamber one by one.
In Chamber's eyes, the vampires were running at average human speed, still giving him an advantage in this battle.
"I seriously need to increase my disciples, I can't keep taking care of these kinds of simple things," Chamber muttered to himself after dodging one of the vampire's claws.
With a swift movement of his Tao Mandalas, a head was sliced off.
However, the vampires, confident in their advantage in number, continued to pour in, although their number has been reduced from thousands to hundreds, that doesn't mean their number is small.
If the person they're facing is one man, then hundreds of vampires are many.
Unfortunately for them, they're facing off against a one-man army instead.
Alaric, seeing that their enemy is not a normal wizard, decided to join the fray. As the strongest vampire, his presence would significantly increase the morale and might turn the tables in the vampires' favor.
"Lord Dami-Dracula. Please stay here while I handle the human." After giving the advice that is more like an order to the Tepes faction's current leader, Alaric quickly jumped in and directly confronted Chamber, not bothering to wait for Damien's response.
"Alaric! Don't leave me, you need to guard me!" Damien, forgetting the original plan of striking Chamber once Alaric weakens him, now the only thing he worries is if Chamber would suddenly pull the previous stunt he did earlier and directly target him.
After all, that's how it is when it comes to war, right? The enemy would undoubtedly strike the important leader to decrease morale and increase the chances of winning.
Chamber, who was busy plucking heads left and right, finally encountered the final boss. No, he's not talking about the cowardly leader, who is now hiding inside one of the houses, oh dear god, no.
He's talking about the old servant, whose presence alone puts pressure on Chamber.
'This guy's stronger than the elder.' Chamber concluded once again, from the looks of it—1 the old servant was simply suppressing himself earlier, only deciding to go all out once he's out on the battlefield.
"It's Alaric!" The vampires, on the other hand, cheered after seeing their strongest join the battle.
"Finally! Now the wizard is dead!" One vampire clapped his hands and licked his lips as he uttered.
"Don't cheer you fools!" Alaric scolded them, flaring his sharp fangs at them, causing them to zip their mouths.
Alaric then then shifted his focus back to Chamber and said.
"I'm not here to fight. I simply wish to solve the misunderstanding." Surprisingly, instead of wishing for a fight, the old vampire calmly raised his arms in a surrendering motion and said, surprisingly not only the vampires but even Chamber himself.
Not expecting his words, Chamber simply gave him a face that said 'Seriously?'.
"Alaric! What are you doing!? I said take him down not surrender!" Damien, who was hiding inside a house but still within hearing range, heard Alaric's words and couldn't help but peek out of the window and loudly scold him.
Alaric, maintaining his composure as his eyebrows twitched, kept staring at Chamber, waiting for his response.
Alaric might be old and belonged to the era when Dracula reigned supreme, but that doesn't mean his mind has deteriorated.
As a matter of fact, his old age has greatly contributed to his wisdom as living long enough gives anyone the necessary experience to become wise.
Alaric, who has witnessed the ups and downs of the vampire race, knows their current situation is a challenge to them.
His response to this challenge is to simply avoid any bloodshed and if possible, seek for truce with the enemy.
Looking at the young age of Chamber and yet he already possessed unparalleled strength, Alaric knew that the young boy was worth allying with.
"What do you say, kind wizard? We are at fault here and hence, we will admit defeat." Alaric finally concluded, inside his heart, that he was hoping that Chamber would agree to his proposal.
"How can I be sure that this won't happen again? For all I know, you'll temporarily retreat and then gather more of your kin to fight off against me. I might as well as cut off all loose ends and finish all of you here." Of course, even if he's presented with peace, that's not enough to make Chamber back down.
After all, he has the advantage here and if he wants, he can simply exhaust his entire reserves and kill every single vampire around here.
Doing such a thing of course have consequences but he'll live.
"This…" Beads of sweat can be seen forming on Alaric's forehead as he tries to find the solution to this.
Thankfully, Chamber counter-attacked and presented his own solution.
"How about this? I have a special magic called Contract Magic, with it, we can sign contracts which will ensure the wants of both sides while drawing a line in between." Taking advantage of the fact that they think he's a normal human wizard, Chamber revealed his 'trump card'. The contract magic!
"Contract Magic?" Alaric's eyebrows furrowed at the mention of a familiar word.
Of course, he knows about the word contracts. After all, contracts are famous across the vampire race, it was during the age of Dracula that contracts came to be.
It is called a Blood Contract and it's mostly used by vampires to get an easy way of supply from the humans.
Using a Blood Contract that is forged through the blood of both parties, the vampire and the human would reach a consensus in which it is mostly the vampire asking for a supply of blood from the human while providing the human, temporary immortality, turning the humans into a being called Ghouls, a lesser version of a full-fledged vampire.
Chamber then proceeded to explain the Contract Magic, in which he omitted a few details that would reveal his race as a devil.
"I see. Then I agree." After a minute of listening and asking questions, Alaric finally agreed.
"Good. Then let me present my conditions first."
"My first condition is that vampires will never bother me again forever unless I bother you guys first."
"My second condition is that vampires shall no longer feed on humans and instead, find a way to replace them with another."
"As for my last condition, vampires shall not touch anyone that is considered as my ally."
After stating these conditions, Alaric started thinking for a few seconds before responding.
"I'd like to change some things from your conditions. First of all, I can't guarantee that all vampires will heed the conditions. There are many other vampire clans and factions that aren't under the Tepes faction. I hope to change it and instead of all vampires, the contract will only affect those vampires that are connected or under the banner of Tepes faction." In which Chamber nodded his head in agreement after a moment of contemplation.
Then, Alaric continued.
"As for my first condition, through this contract, a peace treaty will be formed between Sir Chamber and his allies and the Tepes faction."
"For my second and also last condition, Tepes faction shall not be touched or harmed by Sir Chamber and his allies. That's all."
Chamber contemplated about this for a few seconds before nodding his head in agreement without any objections.
"Good, then the penalty of this contract is that whoever on both sides went against the conditions, shall be stripped of his magical power, memories, and strength." Once the punishment was declared, only then did Alaric finally sigh in relief.
As for Chamber, he remained calm and simply smiled at Alaric.
Is he an idiot putting himself in a contract that could potentially ruin his life?
Of course not, the Contract Magic spell is not enhanced, and not only could he manipulate the conditions even if the contract has been established, but he can not also manipulate on which or whom can only be affected by the punishment.
And the latter is what he just used on himself.
Oh, the punishment is alright and can indeed do what it is written as, but the problem is that only Alaric actually falls under this trick.
"Then I hope this will become the start of long peace between our sides." Alaric nodded his head gratefully toward Chamber, not knowing his trust was placed in the wrong person.
Sure, call him evil or a manipulative person but he'll just admit it, after all, everything that he's doing is for the sake of humanity, not the other races.
