Steve didn't know how powerful Mike's abilities were, nor did he fully understand the extent of them. But it was enough to entrust the most critical task to Mike—he had never let them down before.
Only by closing the space gate would there be any hope of victory in this war.
Otherwise, no matter how many enemies they killed, more would keep coming!
After opening a portal and sending Steve and Bruce away, Mike turned to the few people behind him.
Thor, Loki, and a few of the kids, including Gwen.
Mike's eyes flickered as he looked at the children. "I'm sending you home. Don't run off!"
The kids obediently nodded.
Mike opened a portal. The sight of him summoning a swarm of superheroes had completely shocked them, especially Peter and Harry.
It was only now that they realized how powerful Gwen's father truly was!
Holding several cards in his hand, Mike opened a portal and sent Gwen and the others home. Then he looked at Thor and Loki.
Thor shook his head. "I'm staying."
Loki, about to step into the portal, snapped angrily, "What can you even do by staying here?"
They no longer had their divine powers—just ordinary mortals now. It was far too dangerous on this chaotic battlefield.
"But there must be something I can do," Thor replied calmly, his tone resolute.
Hearing this, the cards in Mike's hand gradually dissipated, transforming into protective barriers that shielded the house. Then, he closed the portal.
For these two brothers, perhaps this was a chance.
"Don't go…"
As Loki shouted, Mike shot up into the sky and disappeared.
Watching him leave, Loki lowered his outstretched hand and glared angrily at Thor. "You're insane!"
"Then are you going with me, or staying here?"
"Arghhh!"
Loki let out a frustrated roar.
Meanwhile, Mike, now soaring into the sky, had changed his appearance.
Clad in black battle armor and a flowing black cape, Mike had donned his Kryptonian suit.
Surveying the battlefield, he quickly selected a direction and flew toward it. Landing atop a building, he opened a portal.
The next moment, Erik stepped out—wearing a purple battle suit and his signature helmet.
He glanced at Mike and nodded before leading the Brotherhood through the portal.
Some Brotherhood members looked curiously at Mike, but Erik offered no explanation. He gave Mike another nod, lips trembling slightly as if about to say "father," but he swallowed it.
Mike patted Erik on the shoulder and said, "Be careful."
With that, Mike vanished.
Erik looked at the spot where Mike disappeared, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly. He turned to the dozens of mutants behind him and said, "Let's get moving."
"Wait—I don't get it!" one mutant shouted. "Why are we helping humans?"
Sabretooth shot a fierce glare at the speaker, looking ready to tear him apart.
Raising his hand, Erik calmly said, "When facing an external threat, we stand on the same front line as them. We're protecting our planet."
There was a moment of silence. Though some still wore disgruntled expressions, their resistance had weakened.
Seeing their reactions, Erik sighed and looked toward the space gate obscured by dark clouds.
Although Ororo was powerful, she couldn't block all the Chitauri. Many enemies were still pouring out.
Erik's gaze sharpened. "I'll handle that. The rest of you take on the enemies below."
He turned to a few trusted members—Pyro, Sabretooth, and others—and nodded. Then he raised his arms and slowly rose into the air. With a brief pause, he shot off at high speed, disappearing from view.
A flicker of energy surrounded Erik, forming an invisible force field that protected him from both energy and matter as he appeared near Ororo.
Startled, Ororo's expression changed with panic.
Affected by her emotions, the lightning dragon she had summoned in the sky also reacted—scattering into electric snakes that vanished into the clouds.
Magneto?
Why was Magneto here?
Ororo knew all too well the reputation of the Brotherhood's leader.
"Don't worry. I'm here to help," Erik said calmly, reaching toward the sky.
Invisible forces surged, and the Chitauri flying down were suddenly pulled together like nails drawn to a magnet. Under Erik's control, they collided and compressed into a growing metal sphere.
Ororo stared, mouth agape in shock.
Magneto really was here to help—and his power was terrifying!
Steeling herself, Ororo also reached up toward the sky.
In the next moment, lightning reformed and danced across the sky under her command, striking down enemy after enemy.
With the two of them working together, the number of Chitauri pouring out of the space gate significantly decreased. With the Brotherhood now fighting alongside them, the X-Men and Avengers finally had a moment to breathe.
"Magneto?"
Tony exclaimed in surprise.
Though unexpected, Magneto's arrival—and his act of blocking the gate—was nothing short of a timely miracle, easing their dire situation.
Zoom! Zoom!
Beams of energy shot toward Tony from behind.
Agilely dodging, Tony checked his remaining energy and ammo, frowning.
He needed to change suits.
His fight with Faora had consumed most of his munitions.
"Jarvis!"
Tony called softly, "Send the new suit over!"
"Yes, sir," Jarvis replied, immediately directing the suit from Stark Tower toward him.
Watching the suit's flight path, Tony flew toward it. Spotting enemies behind him and seeing Barton and Scott on a rooftop, he muttered, "Barton, Scott, cover my tail."
The moment he spoke, several arrows and red laser beams shot at a group of Chitauri behind him.
Boom! Boom!
Fiery "fireworks" exploded in Tony's wake.
"Thanks!"
Temporarily out of danger, Tony flew toward his incoming suit. As more enemies swooped down from above, his eyes gleamed with determination. He opened the suit and dropped from mid-air. Simultaneously, the nearly depleted suit shot toward the incoming Chitauri.
BOOM!
A violent explosion echoed as the Chitauri pursuing him were blown away.
Tony, now in a new Iron Man suit, drew a graceful arc in the sky and soared back into the battle.
