The next day, Mike asked Tony for a backup time-space device and prepared supplies for this trip… uh, this time-space traversal.

Money, water, food, snacks, and some change of clothes.

Speaking of money, it should still work, right? After all, his money was real—and from the "past."

If it didn't work… well, it just wouldn't. Mike didn't believe he'd run out of money anyway.

Once everything was ready, Mike handed a time-space device to Gwen, taught her how to use it, then said sternly, "Let me be clear—this is not a trip, nor a time-space travel! We're just going to hang out in the next-door world!"

Gwen nodded seriously, then tilted her head and asked, "But why?"

"Because of a terrible theorem."

Mike said gravely, then grabbed Gwen's hand: "Get ready!"

Gwen nervously but excitedly glanced at the preset time on the device and nodded.

This time, their time-space traversal would arrive at a different time than Wade's.

Wade's timeline was after Logan's death, while Mike and Gwen were traveling to a time before Logan's death.

The device was ready, the time point set, universe coordinates stored, and energy reserves full.

Mike double-checked the device and looked at Gwen, whispering, "Begin time-space traversal!"

At his command, they both pressed the buttons on their wrist devices.

Space began to fracture; a faint passage appeared behind them, pulling them inside.

The next second, space restored itself, and Mike's house looked untouched, as if nothing had happened.

...

It felt like just a moment had passed, or maybe a long time—dazed, Mike emerged from the time-space tunnel into a new world.

His hand still held Gwen's small hand.

Since both activated their devices simultaneously, they had traveled through the same time-space tunnel.

Originally, Mike had worried they might separate and had exchanged contact info with Gwen just in case.

Gwen stared blankly at the surroundings, then at the city lights glowing in the night. Feeling the scorching heat, she quickly snapped out of it and excitedly said, "Dad, did we make it?"

Mike nodded and reached out to Gwen.

"Time-space devices."

Gwen took off her device and handed it to Mike, who put both devices into his dimensional pocket. Activating his super vision, he scanned the area to collect information and finally relaxed completely.

They were now in 2029, Phoenix, Arizona.

"Dad, where do we go next?"

Gwen kept turning her head, curiously looking around.

This was another world—and in the future. It was impressive that she could hold back from cheering on the street.

Though she promised her dad not to tell anyone outside the family about this, just the thought of this adventure—without being able to 'show off' to others—was thrilling enough.

Mike gently stroked the back of Gwen's head: "Let's walk around first."

"Alright!"

Gwen cheered.

She was already eager to try the delicious food of 2029.

Phoenix, known as the Valley of the Sun, had a dry and hot climate, with scorching temperatures all year round.

So even at night, the burning wind kept blowing against their faces.

Within seconds, a thin layer of sweat appeared on Gwen's forehead.

Mike and Gwen walked down the street; Gwen stretched her neck, curiously observing everything.

After a short while, she lost interest and mumbled, "Not much different from our time."

Mike took out a tissue and wiped Gwen's forehead with a smile: "What else did you expect? Flying cars? Modified robots?"

"Hehe," Gwen laughed. "Isn't that how they show it on TV?"

"Hm? What's that?"

Gwen's attention was caught by a sculpture on the street.

She was sure she just saw the sculpture move.

"Performance art."

Gwen ran excitedly to the sculpture and circled the person painted as a statue, then said to Mike, "Dad, take a picture of me!"

They had brought a camera specially for this trip.

Mike flipped his palm. Amid several surprised glances and whispered 'magic' comments, he pulled out the camera from his dimensional pocket and took a photo of Gwen.

Under a gray-white statue, Gwen smiled happily, while the statue cheekily flashed a peace sign above her head.

"Let me see! Let me see!"

Gwen ran over, looked at the photo, then took two dollars from her pocket and dropped them into an iron bucket in front of the statue. As she stood up to leave, the 'statue' came alive and bowed to Gwen.

"Ah!"

Gwen was startled and stepped back two steps.

"Hahaha!"

Mike burst out laughing.

Gwen glanced at the statue, then at Mike, made a silly face at the statue, and pulled Mike forward to continue their walk.

After strolling the streets for a while, Mike and Gwen arrived at a restaurant.

"Special cactus dishes?"

Gwen looked at the menu, puzzled: "Cactus? Is that edible?"

Imagining a tongue pricked by spines, she shuddered.

"You'll know once you try it."

Mike ordered two dishes: "Eat quickly—it's like a midnight snack. After that, we have to adjust to the time difference."

He didn't mind, but Gwen couldn't handle it.

She frowned: "But I just had breakfast."

"Then eat less. We'll stroll nearby for a bit and look for them tomorrow."

"Okay!"

Talking about that, Gwen immediately perked up.

She couldn't wait to see the older Charles.

Soon, their two cactus dishes arrived.

Gwen inspected hers first, relieved there were no spines on top.

She cut a small piece with a knife, popped it into her mouth, and chewed quickly. It wasn't as bad as she imagined but not particularly tasty either.

After eating a third, she put down her utensils and pushed the dish toward Mike.

Mike accepted it without hesitation. This little dish was nothing to him.

After eating, they wandered around nearby. When they planned to find a hotel for the night, it was already ten o'clock.

As they walked into a slightly remote street, several figures surrounded them.

This area wasn't far from the Mexican border, so it wasn't very safe.

Gwen wasn't scared at all looking at the approaching people, but when Mike's gaze swept over them and landed on their leader, his eyes narrowed.
