It had been five days since Logan met Mike and his daughter.

These past five days had been the most relaxing and enjoyable since Logan started working as a chauffeur.

The father and daughter were the best clients he had ever met in his career.

Generous, kind, and humble.

Although being with them was pleasant, today he had to leave—Professor X's medicine was running out.

Logan stepped out of a small inn, intending to pick up Mike and Gwen from their hotel, when a brown-skinned woman approached him in a panic.

He paused for a moment, then quickened his pace sharply.

She looked like trouble.

Seeing his reaction, the petite woman grew even more anxious. She jogged up to him and whispered, "Wolverine, I know it's you."

"F**k!"

Logan cursed under his breath and turned toward his car.

This past year, anyone who called him by that nickname had only brought him trouble.

"Don't go!"

The woman chased after him, sticking close as she pleaded, "Please, only you can help us! We need a hero like you!"

Logan stopped, spun around, and growled, "Stay away from me!"

Unwilling to give up, she pressed, "Why? What happened? Please! Only you can help me!"

Ignoring her cries, Logan coldly climbed into his car.

She tapped lightly on the window, and just as Logan, annoyed, was about to lower it to refuse her again, her eyes suddenly widened as if she'd seen something terrifying. She turned and ran.

Logan frowned, muttered another curse, and drove off.

When he arrived at the hotel, Mike and Gwen were already waiting. Thinking about how today would end their working relationship, he felt a twinge of guilt and regret.

"Uncle."

Gwen ran over as usual, handed him breakfast, then hopped into the back seat.

Mike patted Logan on the shoulder. "Eat slowly, there's no rush."

Logan felt a bit embarrassed. "You've been bringing me breakfast every day—it's too much trouble."

"You drive for us; giving you a meal is nothing. Don't worry about it," Mike replied with a smile as he got in.

Logan quickly finished eating in front of the car, tossed the wrapper into a trash can across the street, and turned back—only to see an unfamiliar man slipping into the back seat.

His expression darkened, and he strode forward.

A faint, lethal aura emanated from him.

But when he opened the car door, he forced his anger down.

Standing in the doorway, he looked at the sunglasses-wearing man and asked as evenly as possible, "Who are you?"

The man removed his sunglasses with his mechanical hand, studied Logan, and smirked. "Finally, we meet, Wolverine."

Logan's heart sank. He glanced at Mike and Gwen, relieved when he saw no alarm on their faces.

"Wolverine Logan… tsk tsk," the man said, biting his toothpick. "Seeing you like this is disappointing. You were my childhood idol."

Logan snorted. "Who are you? What do you want?"

The man handed him a business card.

Alkali Genetic Modification Research Institute

Chief of Security: Donald Pierce

Logan glanced at it, silently cursing twice.

Donald Pierce said calmly, "If a woman named Gabriela comes looking for you, contact me immediately. There's a hefty reward."

He gave a crooked smile, then looked at Mike and Gwen. Seeing them staring at him curiously, he grinned wider. His mechanical hand reached toward Gwen's face. "You're a cute little thing. Want me to make your hand like mine?"

Smack!

Mike slapped his hand away. "Get out."

If not for wanting to keep his identity hidden from Logan for now, he would've sent Pierce to his grave.

"Heh."

Pierce chuckled lowly, then said to Logan, "Your passengers are really something. I—"

Logan's eyes flashed with anger. He grabbed Pierce by the collar and yanked him out of the car.

Pierce raised his hands, a flicker of unease in his eyes. "Whoa, calm down."

"Get lost!"

Logan shoved him away, shut the door, and slid into the driver's seat. Under Pierce's mocking laughter, he drove off.

A few minutes later, Logan pulled over at the side of the road. His voice was low. "Sorry for dragging you into this."

He slammed his palm on the steering wheel.

Damn it, he was nothing but bad luck!

Just then, Gwen leaned between the front seats, beaming. "So your name is Logan! You're Wolverine!"

"Huh?"

Logan was momentarily caught off guard by her complete lack of fear.

Mike, seeing her excitement, silently gave her a mental thumbs-up.

The little golden statue is yours.

"Logan is my name. James is also my name," Logan explained quickly, then added, "I wasn't lying to you."

"Hehe," Gwen giggled. "It's fine, I get it. Superheroes always use another name to hide their identity!"

Logan hesitated for a moment, then gently patted her head. Seeing she didn't pull away, he smiled at Mike. "You have a good kid."

"And I have a great dad!" Gwen chirped.

"Haha!"

Mike couldn't help laughing.

Logan looked at the two with envy.

Cough!

Logan cleared his throat and said, "I have to leave soon. I can only spend the morning with you. I'll refund the rest of your money."

What just happened had only strengthened his decision to leave quickly.

He didn't want to bring trouble to them.

"Leave?"

"Where are you going, Uncle Logan?" Gwen asked innocently.

"Home. I need to go back for a while," Logan replied apologetically. "Sorry."

"It's fine," Mike said, pulling Gwen closer. "Family matters come first."

"Alright," Logan said. "Then this morning, we'll—"

"Just wander around," Mike suggested, glancing outside. "We've already visited all the main sights."

"Okay."

By midday, Logan had quietly slipped away.

Before leaving, he'd wanted to refund part of their payment, but Gwen's playful pleading stopped him.

After he disappeared from sight, Gwen—who'd looked downcast a moment ago—suddenly gripped Mike's hand in excitement. "Dad, if we follow Uncle Logan, will we get to see the bald guy?"

Mike smiled and nodded.
