Chapter 279: What Are Those Sorcerers Looking At?
Initially, the Ancient One thought she might need to say a lot more to convince Wang Yang. But to her surprise, he quickly accepted and even agreed with her.
Hearing Wang Yang's agreement, the Ancient One felt much more at ease.
"But if I'm not studying magic, I don't really have anything else to do," Wang Yang said, somewhat helplessly.
When reincarnated into this world, he constantly enhanced his magical power to deal with various crises. However, now that he was being advised to take a break, he realized he wasn't sure what else to do with his time.
The Ancient One chuckled at his predicament. "You really don't seem like someone of your apparent age."
"What do you mean? How do I not seem my age?" Wang Yang asked, a bit nervously, worried she might suspect his true origins.
"Who at your age would spend all their time here reading these books?" the Ancient One replied, shaking her head.
Wang Yang glanced at the books around him, realizing she had a point. Most people his age, without the pressing need for power, wouldn't be as dedicated to study as he was.
"If you don't know what to do, I have a place you might find interesting," the Ancient One said, seemingly remembering something.
"Where's that?" Wang Yang inquired, curious.
"The dimensional space," she replied matter-of-factly.
"Dimensional space?" Wang Yang echoed, thinking back to his past experiences in different dimensional realms.
"There's a dimensional space sorcerers' exchange ceremony happening soon," the Ancient One continued.
The concept of dimensional space and the multiverse are distinct. Dimensional spaces are areas surrounding the universe, while the multiverse consists of different outcomes and versions of the same universe, each with its heroes and organizations.
"You're not thinking this exchange is ancient or outdated, are you?" the Ancient One teased, noticing Wang Yang's surprised expression.
"The members come from various dimensions, and some are even from different multiverses," she explained. "Since we don't often meet, we have an agreed time to gather, share knowledge, and exchange magical insights."
Wang Yang nodded in understanding. For sorcerers, creating in isolation wasn't always productive. Those aware of their world's vastness often sought to learn from others, making such exchanges valuable.
It was surprising that the Ancient One was included in these exchanges despite her great power on Earth, but it made sense, given her extensive travels and connections in the multiverse.
"Alright, meeting new people and learning about powerful magic sounds good to me," Wang Yang agreed, eager to see what other dimensions had to offer.
"Great! Let's head out then, but first, we need to make a quick stop," the Ancient One said, opening a portal to a place different from their Earth.
She stepped through, followed closely by Wang Yang. On the other side, a figure resembling a human approached them.
"Ancient One, you're a bit late this time," the figure remarked, then glanced curiously at Wang Yang.
"Cleimans, thank you for guiding us," the Ancient One responded courteously.
"No need for formalities, we're old friends. But who is this?" Cleimans asked, looking at Wang Yang.
"This is my apprentice, Wang Yang. I wanted to bring him to experience the exchange," the Ancient One explained.
Cleimans looked hesitant. "Ancient One, you know our rules. Only those with sufficient magical prowess can enter."
Seeing Wang Yang's youthful appearance, Cleimans worried he might not meet the standards.
"Of course, I know. I assure you, he's more than qualified," the Ancient One said confidently.
Cleimans, still skeptical, replied, "It's not up to you to decide, Ancient One. You know that."
The Ancient One nodded. "How do you propose we test him?"
"We use a simple method. If he can open a portal to the exchange space, he passes. If not, he'll have to wait for the next opportunity," Cleimans explained, turning to Wang Yang. "Do you agree to this condition? If you don't think you can do it, you can withdraw now."
"I'll give it a try," Wang Yang replied, nodding.
Clemans nodded and raised his hand, gathering powerful magic to form a spatial coordinate above his head. This would guide them to the exchange space.
Wang Yang sensed the energy and began drawing a circle in the air.
Seeing this, Cleimans shook his head. "Looks like your apprentice isn't ready, Ancient One. This space requires creating a passage, not just a simple portal."
"Cleimans, you should watch and see. My apprentice wouldn't use this method if he didn't have a way," the Ancient One calmly stated.
"Alright, I'll watch and see," Cleimans conceded, thinking the Ancient One was just being protective. In his experience, true mastery took years, and young sorcerers rarely had the strength needed.
Wang Yang continued drawing the circle until a portal appeared before him. Cleimans was initially shocked but then smiled, seeing it empty.
"Creating a passage to this space isn't so simple," he began to say, but a cracking sound cut him off.
A rift appeared within the portal, tearing through space and revealing a passage to a strange, mystical realm.
"Ancient One, please go first," Wang Yang said calmly. "Cleimans, you as well."
The Ancient One, seeing this, felt a sense of satisfaction. "I told you he had a way, didn't I? Is he qualified now?"
Cleimans, thoroughly impressed, admitted, "Indeed, he is. I underestimated you both. My apologies."
"No need for that. Following the rules is important," Wang Yang replied.
Cleimans, feeling a newfound respect for Wang Yang, led the way through the portal, followed by the Ancient One and then Wang Yang.
They entered a space filled with magical energy, where numerous sorcerers had gathered. However, most of the sorcerers were gazing at the sky above them.
Cleimans and the Ancient One exchanged puzzled glances and turned to see what had captured everyone's attention. Their eyes widened as they saw a massive rift in the sky, sparkling with mystical light and stars as if it held countless universes.
Clemans was shocked, not knowing what had caused such a phenomenon, but the Ancient One had a good guess: it must be Wang Yang's doing.
"Could this be because of that Wang Yang?" Cleimans wondered aloud, still finding it hard to believe.
"What are those sorcerers looking at?" Wang Yang's voice came from behind them, causing Cleimans and the Ancient One to exchange knowing, albeit exasperated, glances.
