Chapter 103: CHAPTER 103
"Okay, okay, you'll have plenty of time to shop for treasures in the future, but the most important thing right now is rescuing Drax first!" Star-Lord urged.
Using high-frequency sonic weapons, he quickly located the parasite.
The parasite had concealed itself inside a scrapped domestic robot used for household chores, abandoned in a junkyard. Motionless, it attempted to blend in with the surrounding garbage, waiting for a suitable host to pass by.
However, the Guardians of the Galaxy's high-frequency sound waves swept through the area, forcing the parasite out of hiding. Before it could escape, Star-Lord's spaceship locked onto it.
A second burst of high-frequency sound waves hit, incapacitating the parasite on the spot. It had no strength left to flee.
Star-Lord and the others easily captured the creature.
Unlike the parasite that had lured in Drax the Destroyer, this one was far less intelligent. Once Star-Lord trapped it inside a containment box, it struggled violently.
Rocket Raccoon hit it with another round of high-frequency sound waves, making it freeze in fear.
Curled up in terror, the parasite stared at Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon, visibly shaken.
Rocket Raccoon leaned in, threateningly. "Alright, listen up. From now on, you answer my questions honestly. Lie to me even once, and I'll fry you with this high-frequency sonic gun. Got it?"
The parasite frantically nodded.
"Good," Rocket continued. "Now, I need you parasites to help me save someone. You'll follow my orders—no funny business."
He held up a small device. "This gadget can protect you from high-frequency sonic waves. Normally, parasites like you wouldn't have a way to resist these weapons, but with this, you might even be able to merge with each other."
Rocket's expression darkened. "But don't get any ideas. I can turn it off anytime and blast you into oblivion. Do you understand?"
The parasite's eyes lit up with hope. "Yes! Yes! As long as this device makes us immune to high-frequency sonic waves, we'll do whatever you ask! Please!"
Desperation was evident in its voice.
There was no other choice. Ever since Rhodes issued a universe-wide bounty on parasites, their entire species had been hunted down. The moment they were discovered, bounty hunters would rush in, eager to claim the reward.
To survive, parasites had gone into hiding, keeping a low profile. Their previous arrogance had vanished. No matter how powerful a race was, greed would always turn them into prey.
After all, with the right price, even a group of lunatics might dare to pluck a few hairs from Thanos' chin.
And compared to Thanos, parasites had far more obvious weaknesses. Every major cosmic faction had the means to capture them.
Rocket handed Star-Lord a high-frequency sonic gun before releasing the parasite.
Under the threat of Star-Lord's weapon, the parasite remained unnaturally obedient.
Then, Rocket activated the anti-sonic wave device.
Invisible sound waves rippled outward.
Immediately, the parasite's body underwent a drastic transformation.
No longer a formless liquid spread across the spaceship floor, it rapidly solidified, taking on a humanoid shape—even without a host.
It lacked ears and hair, but large, bulbous eyes and a thin, sharp-toothed mouth emerged.
Its form vaguely resembled Venom, though its coloration was different. Unlike Venom's pitch-black body, this parasite's hue was slightly lighter.
The parasite grinned.
The eerie smile made Star-Lord tighten his grip on his high-frequency sonic gun.
"How do you feel now?" Rocket asked.
The parasite chuckled. "Amazing. I feel better than ever."
Rocket narrowed his eyes. "Stand still. I need to run further tests."
The parasite obediently complied.
Rocket shot Star-Lord a knowing glance.
Star-Lord raised his high-frequency sonic gun and fired at the parasite.
Even though the weapon's power remained the same, the anti-sonic wave device in Rocket's hand rendered it ineffective. While the parasite flinched slightly, it showed no real signs of distress.
Rocket's eyes gleamed with excitement.
This experiment had just confirmed his theory.
His device didn't just shield parasites from their greatest weakness—it gave them stronger bodies and increased combat potential.
This discovery changed everything.
Rocket Raccoon saw that the parasite had no ill intentions while under the influence of the anti-high-frequency sound wave device. Relieved, he gave his command.
"Take us to your companions—the more, the better."
"Yes, Master! Please rest assured, Master! We will faithfully follow your orders. We are willing to serve you—just grant us shelter," the parasite pleaded.
Rocket Raccoon smirked. "No problem. Now, get moving."
Excited, the parasite eagerly led Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon to its hidden companions.
Although the other parasites were scattered some distance away, Rocket Raccoon's modified spaceship made locating them effortless.
With the parasite's guidance, Star-Lord and the team managed to gather a total of forty to fifty parasites.
Upon learning that Rocket Raccoon had a device capable of making them immune to high-frequency sonic waves, the parasites readily pledged their allegiance to the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Now, like hunted fugitives, the parasites saw surrendering to the Guardians as their best chance at survival and protection.
They were desperate—willing to do anything to avoid the threat of high-frequency sonic guns.
The fear of those weapons had been deeply ingrained in them.
But now, things had changed.
With Rocket Raccoon's device, they could not only resist sonic attacks but also merge with each other without needing a host. This newfound strength ignited their desire for revenge—especially against the Saka forces that had captured and enslaved them in the arena.
For these parasites, it was an easy choice.
Rocket Raccoon, holding the anti-high-frequency sound wave device, now wielded more influence over them than their own kind.
With their new allies, the Guardians of the Galaxy infiltrated the arena on Planet Saka once again, following the same strategy.
Star-Lord had already identified security loopholes on the planet, making their covert entry easier. Using the spaceship's invisibility mode, they slipped onto Saka undetected.
The next day, Star-Lord and his crew disguised themselves as spectators and infiltrated the arena unnoticed by the Grandmaster's men.
Each Guardian had three parasites secretly attached to them, while the rest were released to act independently.
The parasites moved cautiously, sneaking through the underground passages beneath the arena.
These liquid parasites were highly adaptable, slipping through cracks and crevices as they spread throughout the structure, rapidly infiltrating its defenses.
At the crucial moment, Rocket Raccoon activated the anti-high-frequency sound wave device.
The parasites immediately underwent a dramatic transformation.
Their liquid forms solidified, standing upright in humanoid shapes. Unlike before, they no longer needed hosts to maintain their form.
With their grotesque, muscular bodies, the parasites looked similar to Venom, but each had distinct variations.
More than a dozen parasites merged together, forming an even larger, monstrous fusion.
Now fully empowered, the parasitic fusion creatures turned their attention to the guards at the arena's gates.
The guards barely had time to react.
Before they could fire their laser weapons, pools of black matter rose from the ground and coalesced into towering, monstrous forms.
The massive creatures, standing three to four meters tall, transformed their arms into razor-sharp spikes and impaled the guards in front of them—skewering them like candied fruit on a stick.
In the blink of an eye, dozens of guards were dead.
The parasitic fusions showed no hesitation.
They devoured the corpses, their massive jaws tearing through flesh and bone.
A grotesque, eerie laughter echoed through the underground chamber.
"Ahh, it's been so long since I've tasted human flesh," one of the parasites mused.
"Indeed," another grinned. "And with this new power, we don't need hosts anymore. We can survive on our own!"
One of the parasite leaders moved toward the gate, unlocking it for Star-Lord and the others.
"Master, please give us further orders," it said obediently.
Rocket Raccoon, holding the anti-sonic device, knew he had full control over them.
"Good. Now, go to the arena and cause chaos," he commanded. "Attack only the Grandmaster's forces—no one else. Understood?"
"Yes, we fully obey, Master."
Hearing that they had permission to attack the Grandmaster's subordinates, the parasitic fusion creatures erupted with excitement.
"Brothers, now's our chance for revenge! Let's show these Saka fools the price of enslaving us!"
With that, the monstrous parasites spread throughout the arena, ready to wreak havoc.
Their mission: to create enough chaos for Star-Lord and his team to rescue Drax the Destroyer.
Because of their own parasite enhancements, Star-Lord and the others had become stronger and faster.
The Grandmaster's guards were no match for them.
Star-Lord swiftly raised his laser pistol, taking down several guards who rushed to respond to the commotion.
He intentionally left one alive.
Extending his left hand, the parasite inside him understood his intent instantly.
A black tentacle shot out from his arm, wrapping around the remaining guard.
The terrified guard struggled, his eyes widening in horror as the parasite restrained him.
Realizing what was happening, he desperately tried to fire his high-frequency sonic gun.
But to his shock, the parasite remained unaffected.
"H-How is this possible?!" the guard stammered. "The high-frequency sonic gun—it's not working?!"
The black tendrils tightened, crushing the sonic weapon in half.
The next moment, the tendrils yanked the guard closer.
Star-Lord aimed his laser pistol at the man's head.
"Where is Drax being held?" he demanded.
Fearing for his life, the guard quickly answered, "The third room on the fifth floor!"
