MARVEL'S MONSTER HUNTER WORLD

Chapter 58: FLIGHT,FIRE AND FATE

A familiar soft touch.

Aoao Aoao!

"Dahua says you're getting fatter," Watson teased. "Remember what I said? The higher you fly, the worse you fall. Hahaha!"

"Ah… I regret inviting you," Tony groaned.

"You should be thankful I'm here," Watson replied with a smirk. He knew that even if he hadn't come, Tony would have figured out a way to spread his ailerons and recover. But this wasn't a movie—if Tony really hit the ground, it wouldn't be fun.

"Alright, Jarvis?"

"Hello, sir. Are you alright?"

"Yeah, just… now I owe the detective one." Tony sighed, then grinned. "Let's go!"

Tony leaped off Dahua, still high on adrenaline. "Watson, how about a high-altitude dinner? Hahaha! Ah, forget it—your dragon would scare the kids."

A trail of fire and a massive black dragon streaked across the sky, both landing above the garage.

Watson folded his arms. "Tony, maybe you should try flying in from below next time—"

"Jarvis, cut the power."

Bang!

A loud crash echoed as Tony punched a hole straight through the two-story house, landing in the garage.

"Never listens…" Watson shook his head and jumped down through the hole.

Watson landed just in time to see Tony sprawled across the blue Shelby Cobra with the number 98 on it.

"So," Watson smirked. "You actually don't like that car. You just saw that I liked it and decided to destroy it."

"Don't talk," Tony groaned. "I need a moment of silence…"

Hisssss—

At that moment, a small robot shot a milky-white flame retardant at Tony.

"Stupid thing!" Tony sputtered. "You're going to community college for that!"

Messy Labs & Matters of the Heart

"Tony, your workshop is a disaster," Watson muttered, stepping into the cluttered space. "Why not let Pepper clean up?"

Tony shook his head. "I don't usually let her touch my stuff. She's busy enough running my company."

He grabbed a coffee cup from a small box on the table.

Watson glanced at the box. "Hey, what's this? It says 'From Little Pepper' on top."

Tony blinked. "I don't know." He opened it.

Inside, a glass case held a small arc reactor, with the inscription: "Proof that Tony Stark has a heart."

"She's a good woman," Watson said quietly.

Tony nodded, serious for once. "Yeah. She really is. I don't know what I'd do without her."

Watson grinned. "So, when's the wedding?"

Tony choked on his coffee, spraying it across the box. He grabbed a rag and wiped it off, muttering, "Spare me, man… You know how I am."

"I don't know," Watson teased. "Anyway, I'm heading home. My favorite policewoman is waiting for me."

Tony smirked. "Want me to give you a lift? I'll drop you from the sky."

"No thanks, fastest man alive. I'll take my time."

A Tempting Welcome Home

Watson parked in front of his building, frowning. The apartment was dark.

Natasha wasn't back yet?

He checked his map—she was upstairs. But… why were the lights off?

Interesting.

Shaking his head, Watson stepped inside.

As he climbed the stairs, the moment he reached the second floor, his surroundings suddenly flickered with purple, red, and yellow lights. A soft glow illuminated the room.

And then—

A woman in a red tight dress, her face hidden behind a flaming mask, spun gracefully around a steel pole, her movements slow and hypnotic.

Natasha.

The music in the background? "Baby One More Time."

Watson smirked. Well, this is a nice surprise.

He sat on the couch, picked up a glass of champagne from the side table, and watched the world's most dangerous woman perform the world's most seductive dance.

He took a sip, relaxing into the music.

After what felt like forever, Watson finally stood and stepped forward. When he was just a meter away, he extended his hand.

Natasha spun down from the pole, landing lightly. She turned, pressing her body into his outstretched palm.

Watson's left hand pulled her into his arms, while his right hand traced the smooth curve of her back.

"I heard there's a girl named Natasha who wants to dance," he whispered.

"Yes," she purred. "I've been waiting for my knight."

They danced in the swirling lights. Watson, despite being a terrible dancer, moved with her guidance. Their steps soon drifted into every corner of the room.

And then…

Somewhere along the way, the 'dance' changed.

Love filled the air.

A Story in the Dark

Much later…

Natasha lay curled against Watson's chest, running a strand of her hair between her fingers, tracing circles against his skin.

"My dear," she murmured, "tell me more about the story from last time. What happened to that girl?"

Watson ran his fingers through her fiery red hair, feeling her warmth. "The gang boss made a drug addict test the purity of the narcotics right in front of her. Just a tiny bit, and the guy nearly overdosed. Then, the boss gave her a choice: work for them or die. She knew there was no way out."

Natasha tilted her head, her green eyes watching him. "Then what?"

Watson sighed. "She was knocked out. When she woke up, she was only wearing her underwear. And then… she realized her stomach had been cut open. The gang had hidden a bag of drugs inside her. During the surgery, some of it had seeped into her bloodstream."

Natasha stiffened slightly. "What happened next?"

"They sent her to Europe with other 'workers.' But during a layover, two gangsters decided they wanted more than just her 'services.' She refused. They beat her badly."

Natasha's voice was quiet but firm. "Did she die?"

Watson's eyes darkened. "No. The drugs in her bloodstream didn't kill her. In fact, they changed her. Kind of like how Captain America was enhanced by the super-soldier serum—except she was transformed by pure chemicals."

Natasha listened intently.

Watson smirked. "The human brain typically functions at less than 10% of its potential. But when the drugs activated in her system? She reached 20%."
