Chapter 2621: 2621. More Potential
"Gem hunter? That sounds like some useless class. Not everyone finds gems in mines." One of the dwarven miners that had been with the reaching group was not sure that the class his fellow miner was telling him about was even worth it.
"No, you are being dumber than bricks. That girl has a class that helps her track and find gems. Not just little sparkly useless things, gems that develop with affinities in mines. They will be just as tough as the ores that show up there."
The sudden commotion attracted quite a few of the other miners who had been working with cave divers and other explorer professions related to the caverns. They found it amazing that naturally occurring mana gems might be able to be found. This was something so rare that it was easier to consider them impossible to find.
While Walker overheard this, he was also a little surprised since he was not sure how much more valuable a naturally formed mana gem would be compared to the mana gems made for elemental mana crystals would be. He had been part of making them and knew of their uses, but a naturally formed one? He was a bit lost.
This was just another part of the massive educational meeting here. The speeches given by the various guilds had already been enough to spread information. Especially since the information was being recorded so that the communication guild could release a complete coverage to be given to the parents a few days later.
This would help them encourage their children and also push them to explore even more while in general education. A good way for them to have a path of growth after they finished basic education. Plus it was a way to keep the parents in the know how for what they could help their children with.
Many races had different methods of growing and raising their children. Whether it was culture ceremonies, rites of passage, or even simply styles of raising a strong enough child to face the world. All of that was being changed by the united cultures within Genesis, therefore, this information was the key to navigating the future of how children would be raised as a whole.
One important thing that Walker noticed had gathered quite a few of the small class groups to the communication guild were the daily showcase pages of the newspapers being sold.
To encourage the sharing of new projects, information, and various other aspects of the pursuit of growth in Genesis, the communication guild was interviewing the average workers. They would then publish a one page interview explaining what they worked on, what they did to encourage the growth in that field, and even more importantly, how to get to their position and strive to go higher.
This had been why there were children so focused on it. Today's paper was showing off an interview with a water dragon elder.
Many people would wonder why this was so important, however, even Current when he had introduced this water dragon elder had mentored how it was hard to keep her focused and in one place. In Current's words, "she likes to flow with every storm and follow where the rain falls. She could never keep a village in one place."
"This is today's interview with the raining dragon, she spoke to us about the fields of every kingdom within Genesis. She has seen the farms blossoming to make the food we all eat. She has even adopted several orphans who are now learning water magic directly from her with her blessing."
This was why the children found her amazing. She was an embodiment of the wonders of adventure. Not only had she seen every single kingdom since she had begun working with Genesis, she had adopted orphans who some of these children had met.
"While dragons are known for having few children and spending time raising them, the raining dragon lost her only child to illness, a tragedy believed to be the end of some parents. Instead of falling in to depression, she looked in to the world and began raising those she could. She has even met personally with the hero Remey to establish better adoption policies throughout all of Genesis!"
That again was why the children saw this elder dragon as yet another hero. Someone selfless but still full of wonder. "And in honor of the future generation…"
"I have come to play since my little ones believed they could not miss spending time with their friends!" The soft misty rain that overtook the area wasn't discomforting, it was impressive and surprising. Walker had sensed the magic and felt that he was being copied with the entrance.
He did think that the cooperation of the communication guild in this was smart. As the raining dragon was one of the few elder dragons who could take dragonkin form, she was able to do these things. And since she had her children with her, it was even more impressive.
The children she had adopted were not all of one race but they appeared to be more excited to be here than anyone else. Most likely because they did have some friends and thought that they would miss today. They had been going through general education on top of being taught water magic the way that dragons used it. They had water affinity which was why the raining dragon believed she could give them the best potential start in life compared to others.
That didn't mean they were all holding water mage classes. Two of her children didn't have a class yet but were very in tune with their water affinity giving them a great head start when they did gain a class.
The commotion drew even more groups to listen in as she began speaking with them about the importance of considering their future. Walker was glad he was able to help a little here and start to learn a little more.
Seeing the craftsman brag about finding future apprentices with already awakened classes was major. But he noticed a certain assistant to the adventure's guild master walking around with a small group in tow.
"I take it there are future adventurers or staff members?" Walker stopping and speaking with the assistant was enough to make the group of children following her begin murmuring with excited energy.
"I was trying to find a few who had interests in being able to assist the guild run every day. Instead I have found those who wish to convince me to meet the guild master." It was clear that the struggle to say no to them was constant. Convincing a child that the word no was final was… difficult to say the least.
"Well, how about someone like me, goes and drags the guild master out to come see everyone?"
"And would you do that right in the middle of the work day!?" Walker hadn't said this because he would actually go and do it. He had said it so that the kids would be surprised since Clara had been walking down to the training fields for the past few moments. She had needed to assure that everyone was ready for the next speeches and demonstrations. It was a lot of work for her and the other staff, but now was the ideal time to enter herself and act as the guild master meeting the community.
"That's her! She manages the best parties all at once and she even helps the heroes!"
"Yes she did, she helped me and my party meet one another since we were safer to work as a group than work independently. While it might seem boring at times, everyone in the guild offices work to make sure adventurers, craftsmen, mages, and everyone is safe, prepared, and getting stronger every day. I bet you can ask her a million questions and she would have two million answers."
This spurred them to rush over and start to bombard Clara with questions. Walker just launched a bit while Clara glared at him a little. She didn't hate it though. She was very impressed with how the party had grown and even felt like she had been left in the dust. Most of all though, she believed that the adventurer's guild had taken on a new image.
A place full of people blazing new trails across the world and even beyond it. Not just taking on quests to help a city or a small business, but a force that could protect everything within and even outside of the world in the future.
If the children didn't need to return home, it was clear that this meeting and showcase of guilds could have gone on for the entire night. Only the nocturnal classes were arriving now along with the nocturnal guild members. An entirely different set of skills and even races.
