Chapter 184: A Lone Figure Amid the Gray Mist and Gale
The next stop is... Tilan sat in the shuttlecraft, thinking about the last two remaining songstresses, 'Toxic Dream Scorpion' Yahemos and 'Rin Flower Sparrow' Kajelin. After contemplating for a while, she chose to visit 'Toxic Dream Scorpion' Yahemos first.
Hittite Star Domain, 'Yalande-Alpha' star, Golden Spring Fragrance Palace.
"So, the songstress of the dark night flower has finally come to see me?" Inside the palace, Yahemos leaned on a golden chaise, gently shaking a wine glass in her hand, listening to the report from the person in front of her.
"Yes, she has sent a formal letter requesting a visit." A man covered in gold powder bent over and replied, a golden lock-shaped necklace hanging around his neck.
"Coming so late, is it because she's not confident, or is she afraid, hehe~" Yahemos tapped her finger lightly on the wine glass. Her wine-red eyes reflected the lights on the water, appearing thoughtful.
"Inor, Greer, and Masha, all have been persuaded by her, as for Muyawadi, this elderly senior is about to meet the grave, so no need to mention him."
"Kulun, do you think I should give her face and agree easily, or should I set some conditions, making this young songstress spill blood?" She asked the man reporting to her.
"Well..." Kulun kept his head down, his voice hesitant, obviously finding the question hard to answer, as he was unsure of Yahemos's true thoughts.
"Oh, it seems you are afraid, that in itself is also an answer." Yahemos poured the wine in her glass into the pool in front of her, watching the light red liquid spread in the clear water, forming rings of crimson.
Since that songstress had already convinced three people, it meant that within the Seven Songstresses Alliance, four agreed on this option, with one abstaining. If the remaining two wished to refuse, the psychological pressure they faced would not be as light as at the start. Considering if Yahemos agreed, Kulun dared not casually express opposition. After all, he was a small figure; if he said the wrong thing, not only would there be no benefit, there could be trouble.
"At this point, going against it doesn't serve much purpose, I originally didn't dislike her idea, just didn't like the way she acted, as if coming to me was a last resort." Yahemos spoke her mind, and this gave Kulun a backbone, immediately agreeing and echoing her sentiment.
"Indeed, Master Yahemos, that Hexia is so young yet so ambitious, deliberately placing you last, isn't this using power to suppress? It shouldn't be agreed to easily."
He continued to speak at length, becoming more fluent and without the earlier hesitation.
"Alright, you may leave, and keep an eye on Governor Noyan, see if he's making any moves recently."
"Understood, Master Yahemos." With that, Kulun left the high platform of the Golden Spring Fragrance Palace.
The environment returned to silence, on the high platform of the palace, the clear springs flowed slowly, reflecting a faint golden glow under the candlelight along the way. Occasionally, an evening breeze would pass, stirring the plants in the garden, with waves of insect chirps resonating under the night sky.
This was a palace not far from the city, built specifically for Yahemos. The people of the Hittite Star Domain believed that every songstress was an extraordinary individual chosen by destiny, noble by nature, deserving of obedience and following. As such, as a songstress, her voice and influence in the Star Domain far exceeded that of the Starfield Governor.
Lying on the luxurious chaise, Yahemos watched the streams beneath her, contemplating the current situation of the Federation and potential future directions. Despite outsiders seeing her as a vulgar songstress indulging in money and wealth without concealing her luxurious enjoyment, how many could truly see through her real character and thoughts?
If not for most of the Seven Songstresses Alliance leaning towards Hexia, she certainly wouldn't consider joining that faction; from any perspective, it was an extremely risky and immature decision, very idealistic.
Hexia wasn't wrong, if she had come to her first, Yahemos would have surely refused. But now the situation was different; if refused, not to mention becoming isolated, once the other members of the Seven Songstresses Alliance agreed, her refusal wouldn't change the trend. Instead, due to choosing the wrong side, she could be excluded by other songstresses, facing much pressure in the future.
Consider this, if 70% of the Southern Star Region's Star Domain responded to the independence movement, could the Hittite Star Domain she represented, sandwiched in the middle, still stand with the Federation? By then, the Federation couldn't care for her, as she wasn't a direct force of the Central Star Domain, rescuable or not.
Half an hour later, Yahemos stood up, placing the empty wine glass on a nearby table, then walked to one side of the high platform, gazing at the prosperous city with tall buildings not far down the mountain. At night, occasional airships flew slowly across the night sky with lights on.
"This is indeed an open stratagem that cannot be resisted even if you know the other's intentions."
...
Two days later, Hexia visited the Hittite Star Domain, meeting Yahemos at the Golden Spring Fragrance Palace.
"Our lovely Angel Miss finally came today." Greeting Hexia, this songstress wore a smile, seemingly in a cheerful and happy mood.
"Thank you, Senior Yahemos, for the warm reception." As soon as Hexia stepped out of the shuttlecraft, she saw the large welcoming procession formed in several phalanxes.
The welcoming party, clad in traditional local golden attire, held flags with sunflower emblems, playing synchronized marching music, making Tilan's passage through their ranks resemble a parade.
After much waving and nodding appreciatively, the young lady finally walked down the long red carpet, got into a vehicle, and left the landing point.
