Chapter 422: Cheaters And Bullies.
Arthur had been quite disappointed to hear that the technique was faulty. So he was further surprised that Daoist Blood Pill went to such an extent for a faulty technique.
So he wasn't impressed. Instead, he was confused, so he asked the golem, "Why would Daoist Blood Pill do so much just to spread a faulty technique?"
The Golem replied, "The technique is faulty. But that doesn't mean it is unusable."
"For one, it can be used to break through to the third mortal coil. If one is talented, then they might be able to fix the problems of the foundation. If not, they will be stuck with the foundation forever and be unable to advance."
"Daoist Blood Pill couldn't solve the problems of the pill, but that didn't mean that someone else couldn't. Besides that, even if the technique isn't used as a main cultivation technique, it can still be used as a side cultivation technique to cultivate external pills and nascent souls."
Arthur didn't understand what it meant, so he asked, "What do you mean by external pills and external nascent souls?"
The Golem replied, "You will know when you get the inheritance."
Then it said, "Speaking of inheritance, it is almost ready."
The white runes had started from its feet. Then they rose little by little up its body. By now, they had reached its neck.
He asked the golem, "Can I share the inheritance with others?"
He asked because it was the best way that he could think of to make full use of the inheritance. He is not an alchemist, and the technique might be faulty, so he is thinking of selling it for money.
The golem replied, "Since you passed the trial on your own without a token from the Jade Cauldron sect, you are free to share it with as many people as you want. The aim of the Daoist was to spread her techniques after all."
The golem's answer made Arthur ask in confusion, "If that is the case, why don't you just give everyone who came here the technique instead of letting them suffer for nothing for so many years?"
The golem shook its head and said, "The two things are different. Daoist Blood Pill was looking for a worthy successor, so she set stringent requirements for one. One of the requirements is to be a disciple of the Jade Cauldron sect and be rewarded with the inheritance by the leaders of the sects."
"Inheritors that meet that requirement will come here with a token from the sect. I don't know if they are talented or not, but I must give them the inheritance. But they won't be able to share the technique with others because it will be sealed in their minds."
"Then there are Inheritors like you. You climbed up the mountain successfully. You did so on your own, and you are at the second mortal coil. So you deserve to get the inheritance and can be trusted to treat the inheritance right. After all, it is what you worked hard for that you will cherish."
"Lastly are the cheaters and bullies. They either break into this place by cheating or threaten to destroy me and the mountain if I don't give them the inheritance. I only give them one-third of the inheritance, and I also seal it so that they can't share it."
Arthur chuckled when he heard what the golem said about the cheaters and bullies. He thought to himself inwardly, "If I were strong enough, maybe I would have bullied my way into the inheritance too."
As he was thinking to himself, the white runes finally covered the whole head of the golem. This caused its aura to change.
For a brief moment, Arthur was able to sense the true power of the golem. Its aura wasn't large, but it was incredibly refined, so it was heavy.
He sensed an energy level that was far beyond the one he sensed from Thor's energy shield projection engine. This energy level made his breath stagnate and his body seize up.
He didn't react that way just because of fear. The aura of the golem wanted to assimilate him. It felt as if the golem could pull out the internal energy within his body in a moment. This tug on his life seed caused the operations in the body to stop briefly.
Just as his body froze, the aura of the golem disappeared, and everything returned to relative normality. The normality was relative for him because he couldn't view the golem the same way ever again.
He now had an inkling of the great power within the golem, so he couldn't be as free with it as he was. In fact, he became weary of the golem because he suddenly realized that he was stuck in a place he couldn't live with a powerful machine that was capable of killing him instantly.
His weariness was why he jumped back when the chest of the golem hissed to reveal a glowing white ball. This time, his reaction was due to fear.
The golem said to him, "Touch the ball and receive the inheritance."
He nodded stiffly and went over to it. Then he placed his hands on the white ball in its chest.
His mind linked together with the white ball, so information about the technique began flowing into his mind too. This caused him to freeze again as his mind worked to receive the copious amount of information.
The technique was called the Life Pill Art. It was a failed attempt to copy the Inner Pill Art technique.
Even though the Life Pill Art failed in its objective, it succeeded in another way. Most interesting was that its success was in a domain that the Inner Pill Art wasn't capable of.
The Life Pill Art was profound and had many volumes, which catered to the third mortal coil, the fourth mortal coil, and the fifth mortal coil. So at the very least, the level of the Inheritance was at the third rank.
