Chapter 426: Hating On Cheaters.
He thought that the golem would be put to better using serving himself and his goals. So he wanted to take it away.
But the golem didn't understand his true intent for that question. Besides, even if it did, it wouldn't help him stop it from doing its duty. That's against its duty.
So it said, "I actually have something you can help me with."
Arthur listened in anticipation only to hear it say, "Tell those cheaters to stop cheating. I will never accept someone at the third mortal coil to be an inheritor. So they are just wasting their time and their energy."
Arthur was disappointed, but he tried again. "Is that all? Is there really nothing I can do to free you from this?"
The golem asked in confusion, "Why would I need to be free from my duty?"
Arthur couldn't come up with a convincing answer in a short while. The golem wasn't willing to wait for an answer. It wasn't even interested in an answer, so it said, "It is time to leave."
It closed its chest and disconnected from the hope in the ground. This caused the white runes in its body to die down immediately.
Then it led Arthur to the edge of the garden and opened a doorway for him to go through.
Arthur had given up on convincing the golem because he simply didn't have any way to rewrite the objectives of golems without overpowering them and changing their command module. In this case, it was impossible for him to overpower this golem, so he gave up and obediently went through the doorway.
On his way out, he heard the golem say, "Seriously, tell those rats to stop bothering me. They are not only wasting their time and energy, but they are also wasting my time and energy. They may not care about my time and energy, but I do care."
"Lastly, if you use the Life Pill Art to reach the nascent soul realm, you can come and claim this Inheritance Hall as your own. I and everything here are to be the reward to anyone who fulfills the Blood Pill Daoist's dying wish."
Arthur wasn't moved when he heard the last statement about the reward. He shook his head inwardly and said, "There is no way I'm going to use the Life Pill to forge my foundation. It is faulty, and I have something better."
"Besides, I can just come here to take everything when I reach the fifth mortal coil. There is no need to risk my future for something I can get in a better and safer way."
He didn't say all of these out loud, though. He didn't want to offend the golem when he was so close to safety.
He just walked on without saying anything. Then he came out from the other side.
When he came out, he discovered that everyone was looking at him. This stunned him somewhat.
They were all looking at him because a white door had suddenly appeared on the invisible wall. The white door drew everyone's attention. So they looked at the door and saw Arthur come out of it.
Arthur sensed that the atmosphere was heavy and charged. He could literally smell the storm brewing in the air. It was the smell of charges about to combine into lightning.
He didn't let the heavy atmosphere pressure him too much. He simply exhaled heavily. Then he began descending the mountain.
An elder of the Black Bones sect asked him, "What did you gain from the Inheritance?"
Arthur simply smiled. He didn't reply, but someone else replied for him.
The person that replied for him was an elder of the Blood Skull sect. He had tiny red tattoos all over his skin. His hair and eyes were also red. But his eyes were glowing faintly.
The man said on Arthur's behalf, "What else is there to gain apart from how to fuck your mother?"
The people from the Blood Skull sect were outnumbered, but that didn't stop one of them from provoking their enemies. Some might consider what he just did foolish, but those who know him will understand that he truly wants to provoke the enemy so that he can fight.
Unfortunately, the provocation wasn't enough to work on an undead. The elder from the Black Bones sect is someone who will desecrate his mother by turning her corpse into one of his undead. So there was no way a crass statement like that could rile him up.
However, there was another elder from the Blood Skull sect nearby who could make another attempt.
This elder was orange, not red. He had orange and bright hair like that of elder Calcetti, but he also had red tattoos on his skin, and anyone around him would feel that they were standing next to a stove because of all the heat radiating from his body.
The elder said, "There are internal records within the sect that state that Inheritance is a technique that renders corpses useless. Why do you ask? Are you interested?"
He was clearly lying, but his words had a bigger impact on the elders from the Black Bones sect than the obvious provocation.
All they needed to ask themselves was, "What if he wasn't lying?"
If he wasn't lying, then the technique that Arthur inherited will be very valuable, and the Black Bones must have a look at it. The worst part is that they can't say for certain that he is lying.
What he said was clearly to rile them up. Knowing that these knuckleheads from the Blood Skull are eager fighters who would say anything, including the truth, to get the fight they wanted meant that no one could say categorically that he wasn't lying.
So what the burning elder from the Blood Skull sect said had a greater impact on not only the elders of the Black Bones sect but also the elders from the other sects. After all, they would very much like to know the weakness of one of them.
