Chapter 429: Caught In A Webbed Barrel.
To top things off, his webs didn't disappear after being shot. They stuck to the walls of the ruins and remained in their position.
So the humanoid spider was using them to slowly build a network of webs like a real spider. Every attack was part of a grand trap that he was laying. So it didn't matter if his attack was dodged or not.
For now, the network of webs had formed a barricade in the shape of the letter V. The humanoid spider was at the origin of the network where the webs met, while the humanoid volcano was in the open space between the webs.
The humanoid volcano had space to rampage about now that he had become free after killing the dual-wielding swordsman. But their enemies had been locked into the space of the barricade with him, and the space they were in was reducing by the moment because the humanoid spider was releasing more and more webs.
In a nutshell, the humanoid spider was constructing a V-shaped barrel in the air with his webs. There was no way to escape the barrel, as the open end of the barrel on the opposite side of the humanoid spider was the wall of the ruins.
If anyone tries to escape by attacking his web, they would be able to cut the web. Unfortunately, they won't have the time to cut all of the web in their way because they will have the humanoid volcano pursuing them from behind and the humanoid spider sniping them from afar.
There were enemies who used ranged attacks like whips, arrows, and flying swords. But rarely could any attack resist an explosion to the face, so rarely was an attack able to reach the humanoid volcano.
As for the humanoid spider, his red metallic legs would block for him and knock away any attack that came close to him. He had ten legs, so he had a lot of ways to block.
The problem was that their enemies were too weak to take a single hit. One-on-one, no one was strong enough to take on an attack from the humanoid spider or humanoid volcano.
No one was strong enough to break their defenses either. So by the looks of things, they were going to lose.
The only way they could win is if the two elders from the Blood Skull sect ran out of energy for fighting so many people. It is possible. But many of them would die by the time they ran out of energy.
For now, they were rats in a jar. The best thing they could do was survive until the two humanoid beasts ran out of energy. Only then would they be able to turn the tides.
But even if they did turn the tide, they were never going to get Arthur because he was long gone. Elder Storm Hawk had taken him away from the ruins and out of the secret realm.
The two of them were riding on a flat black shuttle. The shuttle resembled a boat, but its sides were too low.
Arthur was sitting in the front while Elder Storm Hawk stood in the back driving the shuttle. Arthur looked calm, but Elder Storm Hawk looked solemn.
She was taking the situation seriously. She was also glancing at places as if looking at something Arthur couldn't see.
They didn't stop for anything. They left the territory of the family they were in and sped through the air towards a location that Arthur didn't know.
Arthur asked her, "Do I have to hand over the inheritance to the sect?"
She replied, "Yes, but only for techniques. You have to do that much because you wouldn't have gotten the opportunity to earn the inheritance if not for us and because you wouldn't be able to leave the secret realm alive without us."
"The sect will take the techniques for free. It is a copy of the technique anyway. As for material gains from the inheritance, you can keep them or trade them with the sect. You will be compensated accordingly."
He nodded and said, "Sounds reasonable."
Then he asked, "Where are we going?"
Elder Storm Hawk was silent for a while. Then her solemn and serious face broke into a smile as she replied, "We will go somewhere to have fun?"
Then she said, "I hope you have things that you want to buy."
He didn't understand what she was saying, so he asked, "What do you mean?"
She said, "It's a surprise."
Since she wasn't going to say, he rolled his eyes and continued to study the Life Pill Art. The flying was stable, and there was no wind because of the energy shield protecting them, so he was not disturbed during the journey.
They flew for more than 20 hours before they could reach their destination. They had been moving in a straight line, so they had crossed a large distance.
Their destination was a place in the nearby kingdom. It was the territory of the Sword Way sect.
The place they went to was the territory of the Milton family. This was the territory of the family who hosted his first inter-sect competition.
Elder Storm Hawk didn't tell him what they were doing there other than that they wanted to buy something. That wasn't a lot of information, but he became interested nonetheless when he heard that the Milton family was going to organize an auction.
Apparently, after every intersect competition, cultivation families would hold an auction open to only those who were at least at the second mortal coil. Special items from the secret realm would be sold here, and people could put other special items up for sale.
Most people who attend the auction come for items that can help people at the second mortal coil to transcend. These people are at the peak of the second mortal coil. They came looking for an opportunity to reach the third mortal coil.
