Chapter 5: Chapter 5
"Yup, impossible,"
Sirius murmured, his eyes scanning the convoluted mathematical symbols sprawling across the blackboard.
Math, even in his past life, had never been his forte.
He simply gave up, telling the exasperated teacher the same thing he always did: he didn't know the answer.
This, predictably, only further inflamed the male teacher's temper.
Sirius could hear the mocking whispers, especially from the boys, hinting that he only had a good face but no brains. He wanted to retort, but couldn't, because it was true.
At least his face is top grade compared to them, he thought, a small, defiant flicker of vanity.
He wouldn't care for the opinions of others, especially "extras," as his current focus was solely on getting stronger and surviving the inevitable encounters to come.
He considered raising his stats by expending meme points, but quickly dismissed the idea.
That would just be a waste, especially since most of his cards consume points.
What if in the future he could bypass those meager increases with powerful Trait meme cards?
Better to save points for now and focus on physical training to increase his stats.
These thoughts churned in Sirius's mind as he returned to his seat, oblivious to the continued snickers.
Meanwhile, in the Occult Research Club room, Rias Gremory was seated, Akeno standing gracefully at her side, and Koneko Toujou quietly observing.
The discussion revolved around Hyoudou Issei, specifically his potential as a Sacred Gear bearer.
"Koneko's observations confirm that boy, Hyoudou Issei from 2-B, has a chance that he harbors a Sacred Gear,"
Rias stated, her voice thoughtful.
"And an interesting one at that. It seems I was correct to have Koneko watch him. This boy... he has potential."
As their discussion about Hyodo Issei concluded, Akeno, with a soft hum, suddenly brought up a new topic.
"Speaking of interesting boys, Rias-Buchou, Kawahara Sirius-kun were quite diligent yesterday."
Rias merely tilted her head, a hint of curiosity in her crimson eyes.
"Oh? And what about him, Akeno?"
Akeno's lips curved into a playful smirk.
"Well, he not only tried to confess to you, President, but he also had a love letter prepared for Sona Sitri."
Rias's brow furrowed slightly, then relaxed into a familiar sigh.
"Is that so? Then he's just another typical boy, isn't he? Attracted to beauty, and quite audacious about it." She waved a dismissive hand.
Akeno, however, continued her teasing.
"Perhaps, perhaps. Though it seems his double confession didn't go so well. He took a leave yesterday, and the rumors are flying that it was from dejection over his failed confessions."
Rias's expression turned stern.
"Akeno, that's enough teasing."
Akeno simply smiled wider at Rias's reaction, her eyes twinkling. She understood.
Though the person they were discussing so casually was, at that very moment, in Class 2-C, enduring renewed mockery for his inability to answer a simple mathematical question.
***********
"21... gurrgg... 22... hurhh... 23... no, I can't do it anymore!"
Sirius screamed alone in the mansion, sweat dripping onto the polished floor as he collapsed from a set of push-ups.
His muscles screamed in protest.
"Tomorrow is Friday, and based on the progress, the date of Hyoudou Issei and the sadist Fallen Angel will be on Saturday," he murmured, panting, as he rested.
"It's better not to intervene and let the plot proceed as it is for now, hah~."
Sirius stood up and drank a cup of water, quenching his thirst.
"I need to grow stronger. Since I am a potential variable here, I need strength to at least protect myself."
Sirius thought as he rested for that night.
The next morning came. Sirius received his daily rewards from the app. Aside from two duplicates – a copy of "This is Fine" Coffee and another Doge Bonk Bat – which automatically turned into Meme Points, earning him 12 points and bringing his total to 14.
"Finally, a new card! Let's see," he murmured, tapping the screen.
The new card showed a man with one finger pointing up, with a caption saying "Another One."

Another One
Details: When used, duplicates the last action made by the user. The desired duplicated action must be said after shouting or saying "Another One," then explicitly stating what action will be duplicated.
Type: Special
Category: Utility
Uses: 1 [a day]
Meme Points Needed: 2 per action [may increase based on the difficulty of action]
Dismantling Return Points: 100

Another utility card?
Based on the description, it seemed more like a follow-up attack, and it would be useful for duplicating powerful actions.
Sirius pondered the possible usages of the card, his mind already racing with tactical possibilities.
He then just prepared to go to school.
Time passed in school as usual.
Sirius today did not directly go home but tailed Hyoudou Issei together with his new girlfriend, the sadist Fallen Angel using the fake name Amano Yuuma.
He tried to be normal and casual while tailing them, keeping a discreet distance.
He also noticed someone else doing the same as him. It was Koneko Toujou.
"Phew, looks like she didn't notice my intention," Sirius sighed in relief, looking at Koneko's expression, who was currently focusing intently on observing Hyoudou Issei.
Then, when the sun had already dimmed, at the bridge, Sirius overheard their plans for a date tomorrow.
This confirmed Sirius's gut prediction.
Looks like Issei's destiny will be started tomorrow, yep, the one where he will acquire a temporary donut hole in his body, he thought.
Then he rapidly dashed away to go home, seeing the sun was already going down
************.
The next day came very fast. It was the destined day for Hyoudou Issei.
Sirius, on the other hand, checked his daily rewards result with a mix of anticipation and dread.
"Item and utility cards, huh? Are weapon cards and trait cards that rare?!" he screamed, a frustrated groan escaping him as he saw the daily rewards meme cards.
There were two new cards, the last one being the usual "This is Fine Coffee" meme card.
The first new card was named "Special Agent Box."
The image showed a normal cardboard box with two eyes peeking out from inside it.
<><><><>
Special Agent Box
Details: A box once used as a stealth tool of a secret agent. It may be small, but amazingly, it can entirely hide a human body very well. When used, summon a cardboard box where the user can hide. As long as the user is inside the box and stays still, any entity will be forced to ignore the presence of the box and anything inside it for one hour
Type: Rare
Category: Item
Uses: 1 time
Meme Points Needed: None
Dismantle Return Points: 20
<><><><>
"A stealth type item, not bad," Sirius mused.
"Can be used to confuse enemies or hide to recover in a long-term battle."
He imagined himself popping out of a box in the middle of a devil fight, utterly ignored.
The absurdity of it made him crack a small smile.
The second new card, on the other hand, was another utility card.
It was named: Evil Frog's Robe.
The image depicted a shadowy figure resembling Evil Kermit the Frog, cloaked in a dark robe.
<><><>
Evil Frog's Robe
Details: Owned by Evil Kermit the Frog. When equipped, the user can summon a black robe. Increases persuasion on target, with almost guaranteed success when the persuasion is the opposite or evil on the target's intention. The target will only realize it was persuaded after doing the task it was persuaded to do. The user must be alone with the target for it to work.
Type: Special
Category: Utility
Uses: 1 [per week]
Meme Points Needed: 10
Dismantle Return Points: 200

Sirius was genuinely surprised by this utility.
"Seriously, with this alone, there's a chance that he can shift the entire story itself," he murmured, his mind racing.
What if he can sneak to prominent figures if they are alone, then proceed to convince them to do something?
For example, if it works on Ophis, the Ouroboros Dragon, he could use her to disband or eliminate the Chaos Brigade, or take her support from them.
But then he remembered the "almost guaranteed" part, which implied it might not work as effectively on truly strong-willed individuals.
Hey, what if he can use it to make Ddraig, the Boosted Gear, move from Issei to him when Issei is on the brink of death?
The thought was audacious, tempting.
But will that even work? It says 'target,' not 'person,' so maybe it can?
He immediately recognized the immense risk.
That would need impeccable timing, since Rias Gremory and her peerage would likely be near or quickly arrive when the Fallen Angel left after killing him.
This needs more planning for later, Sirius thought, pushing the truly game-breaking idea to the back of his mind for now.
Sirius planned to wait later in the park to test and witness the event.
With that, he prepared and devised a plan.
A plan that, for once, didn't involve desperately trying to impress devils, but rather observing the chaos from a safe, memetic distance.
