Not long after, Zenith got up, humming a tune, while Lilia, looking exhausted, came out of the bedroom to help Zenith prepare breakfast.
"Good morning, young master."
"Good morning, Lilia."
Rudeus passed by in the hallway, greeting Lilia with a cheerful demeanor.
"Lilia, you don't look so good today. Are you feeling unwell?"
At his words, Lilia's eyes behind her glasses flickered with a hint of panic.
"I didn't sleep well last night... Thank you for your concern, young master."
Rudeus blinked and walked past her.
At that moment, Allen, bare-chested with a towel draped over his shoulders, came down from the second floor. His hair was still damp, with droplets of water clinging to the strands.
"Morning, everyone."
Hearing Allen's voice, Zenith peeked out from the kitchen, clasping her hands together apologetically.
"Good morning, Allen. Sorry about yesterday. Paul was a bit angry, so he might have gone a bit overboard. I checked your neck, and it seems fine, but you were out cold for a while, so we brought you back. We couldn't bathe you because of the bloodstains, so we just laid you on the floor with a blanket. Paul mentioned he wanted to thank you... or rather, apologize to you when he wakes up. He should be up soon."
Allen squinted at her radiant face, the corner of his eye twitching involuntarily.
If you're really sorry, maybe you should consider just sleeping at night instead of playing noisy games, ma'am. And you clearly said 'thank you' just now!
But I should be the one thanking you. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have known detoxification magic could be used like that. Seriously, impressive.
"It's fine. It was my fault that Rudeus and the others got poisoned... By the way, did Roxy take Sylphie home yesterday? Did she... get angry?"
Zenith blinked.
"Not at all. She just looked a bit exasperated, but it seems she has a good impression of you and Rudeus! She even told me to let you know not to feel too guilty and to take care of Sylphie in the future."
Allen scratched his head.
"That's only natural... I'm glad she's not upset."
Meanwhile, Rudeus, who had been listening to their conversation, was momentarily stunned.
From the sound of it, Paul gave Allen a beating yesterday? He even got knocked out... When did he make the shrine? At dawn? Allen looks pretty tired... Huh, this guy helped me keep my secret and even made a shrine for me. He's unexpectedly a good guy. I'll have to find a way to repay him.
Knock knock knock!
Suddenly, there was a rapid knocking at the door.
Allen, along with the others, exchanged puzzled glances.
"I'll get it."
To everyone's surprise, the person at the door was a petite but well-proportioned young woman. She was tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, her slightly upturned eyes scanning the room.
However, when she saw that the person who opened the door wasn't the burly knight she expected but a complete stranger, she was momentarily taken aback. Her gaze quickly swept over Allen's chiseled features, from his neck down to his well-defined trapezius muscles, and then lingered briefly on his chest.
She subtly pinched her nose.
"Where's Paul? And who are you..."
Allen blinked, trying to recall if this woman matched any of the characters from the novel's early stages, but he couldn't place her.
He instinctively brushed his damp hair back, furrowing his brows as he asked,
"May I ask who you are..."
Before he could finish, Allen paused, his eyes shifting to the figure standing beside the woman...
It was the little fatty from yesterday, the one he had intimidated, now looking at him with an awkward expression.
Wait... This scene feels familiar...
[Immediate Task: The Temptation of the Milf, has been issued.]
[Mrs. Somar has a thing for Paul's muscular build and often finds excuses to seek his attention. Right now, you've caught Mrs. Somar's eye. She seems to think that compared to Paul's 25-year-old physique, your teenage build has its own unique appeal...]
[Task Reminder: Zenith often complains internally about this woman's advances. This is your chance to repay her for the detoxification magic.]
[Reward: If handled well, you can further gain Zenith's favor, earn 2 participation points, and possibly even win the affection of a charming married woman.]
[Go for it, host! How can you pass up on being the 'other man'?]
Allen didn't have time to deal with the system, which was clearly here to tease him rather than issue a serious task. He just stared blankly at the little fatty in front of him, his expression gradually stiffening.
Because.
He remembered what he had said to this kid yesterday.
"If she's a demon, then I'm your dad."
Oh no... This is bad...
I think I'm about to become a dad...
Mrs. Somar, seeing Allen's stunned expression as he stared at her child, instantly realized that this handsome, well-built young man was the one who had bullied her son.
A subtle smile curled at the corner of her lips, but she quickly furrowed her brows and said sternly,
"So, you're the one who bullied Somar? How impressive~ Picking on a child just because you're taller and older?"
Allen, still in a daze, glanced at Mrs. Somar, who was looking at him with interest...
Wait, no, I'm too tall for the 'milf' trope... Damn it, what am I even thinking?!
He quickly looked back at Somar, who was hanging his head in embarrassment, and felt a surge of frustration.
"Don't just stand there! Did I bully you? Speak up!"
Somar flinched and lowered his head even further.
Allen was dumbfounded.
Seeing Allen's reaction, Mrs. Somar's eyes lit up. She grabbed Allen's ear and started dragging him outside.
"You still dare to say you didn't bully him? Come with me and explain yourself. Somar's father passed away early, and I can't just let anyone bully my child..."
The upper-tier Water God Style swordsman, now caught in the widow's "Ear-Pulling Technique of Light," felt utterly hopeless.
So your Somar is the one who bullies others! And why does this have to come with the 'widow' buff? Danger, danger, save me, save me! Paul, big bro, save me!
"Wait!"
Allen's eyes lit up as he saw Rudeus rushing out.
I knew you were reliable! After all the effort I put into making that shrine for you last night, come on...
"Mrs. Somar, could you let him come back by noon? I have a swordsmanship lesson in the afternoon."
Rudeus bowed politely, his face half-raised as he winked at Allen.
What a perfect opportunity to repay my debt! With Allen's skills, there's no way Mrs. Somar could actually grab his ear, right? So Allen must be doing this on purpose! Hmm~ Who would've thought someone as upright-looking as you would have such tastes... But everyone has their quirks. Since I've accepted you as my... big bro, I'll help you out!
Allen: What the hell?!
"Wait!"
Finally, Paul arrived, and Allen looked at him as if he were a savior.
Paul, you're my god!
But before Paul could even open his mouth to speak, Rudeus hastily pushed him back into the house.
With a thud, the door closed, leaving Allen, Mrs. Somar, and Somar himself in an awkward silence.
The gentle spring breeze brushed against Allen's body. He stiffly turned his head to look at Mrs. Somar, who was eyeing his bare chest with a sly smile, and felt his heart turn to ice.
