Chapter 39: New Spells
[please coments ando give me power stones!!]
"Haaa!" Roxy's scream reached my ears and I tensed immediately.
A pillar of earth was falling rapidly towards me and I had no intention of dodging it, but why?
Well that's simple, it's been a month since I was able to create my own barrier magic spell, unfortunately I don't know if I'll be able to turn it into an enchantment or something like that.
The huge stone pillar fell on top of me as I continued to fall, a yellow aura surrounding me all the while.
It was the advanced range version of the spell I had cast and if all goes well I'll be immune...and if not...
Let's not think about that, okay?.
(slaaam!!)
The huge stone pillar fell on top of me, shaking the ground around us.
I instinctively closed my eyes waiting for the impact but nothing happened.
I opened my eyes and everything around me was completely dark.
"Hah... it works!! " I shouted with excitement and started walking.
The earth crumbled under my feet, unable to put up any resistance, and so I emerged from the now-destroyed pillar of earth.
"Haaa...thank goodness" Roxy sighed in relief with a smile on her face as she approached me.
"Did you feel anything? Or notice anything?" She asked as she looked at me expectantly.
"Not a single scratch, this new magic is a success" I murmured with a smile as I looked at her and a smile also appeared on Roxy's face.
"I'm happy for you, I've never heard of someone inventing a new spell..."You are certainly someone amazing," she murmured as she patted me on the shoulder.
At this action I could do nothing but blush while nodding fervently.
"Y-yes! And thank you so much for helping me Roxy! You're also an amazing magician!" I declared.
"Flattery will get you everywhere," she murmured with a smile, then pulled my cheek tightly before turning around and walking away.
Everywhere?! What does she mean by that?!
"Come on, didn't you yourself say that it's best to travel without stopping?" She said while looking at me with a smile.
"You're right, let's go then," I said with a smile as I started walking beside him.
After a month of traveling without rest, our group and I decided to rest for a couple of hours on the side of the road.
Shirone was still a month away and the nearest town was a week away so it was essential to stock up on supplies and food.
"Oh?...It took them a long time! At least they managed to check the spells?!" Gesee grumbled with his arms crossed, he was leaning against a corner of the carriage while the others were outside and apparently they were putting their sleeping bags on the ground.
"Paul! You took so long and we thought we'd have to camp here...what do we do?" Hilda came running to my side while muttering.
I looked up at the sky and saw that it was already around three in the afternoon. We could still continue for a little longer, but it would only be three hours of daylight, but we could just do rotations right?...
Bah, what the fuck, my ass hurts from sitting so long.
"We'll camp here and leave early in the morning," I declared.
Hilda put on a relieved expression and Gesse just sighed as he got back into the carriage.
"Flute, can you help me gather some firewood, please?" I called to the woman still inside the carriage.
She blinked several times in surprise but then nodded with a smile and got out of the carriage.
"No problem, I can even help you make the campfire if you want," she said with a smile.
"There's no need...I just need to talk to you about something important," I whispered into his ear.
"...okay, I'm listening" she replied and so we went into the forest.
...
We walked for a couple of minutes until we reached a leafy part of the forest.
"This is fine," I muttered, drawing my normal sword and cutting a tree in half with one clean motion.
Then I started cutting the tree into smaller pieces until I got to the smaller branches that we would take.
"So...what is it you want to talk to me about?" Flute murmured with a smile and crossed her arms, emphasizing her...enormous round breasts...ahem!
"It's about Lilia and the situation you'll be in when you arrive in Ars," I said as I looked into her eyes.
Flute's gaze fell to the ground momentarily and his fists clenched slightly.
"I've tried not to think about it, but I know the capital was completely destroyed...and now with my husband dead..." The woman's lips trembled and I could see a look of uncertainty on her face.
"I don't know what to do anymore...and you've been so kind to us!" Flute's voice grew slightly louder and she came closer to me.
"Flute...I know I've told you before but..."Now I don't even know if I can be a noble again," i declared, staring at her.
"Huh?!, A-and why is that?!" She asked with a strangled scream.
I clenched my fists in the same way and my gaze also fell to the ground.
"In Millis...many called me a usurper for presenting myself under my name and Enzo said that I had been declared dead along with my mother...If that's true...when I return to the capital then I'll be treated as an enemy and I don't even know how my mother is...I don't know if I can guarantee a good future for you and your daughter, Flute" My own words were almost stuck in my throat, the anxiety of knowing what had happened to my mother only grew bigger and bigger, and it was already difficult to ignore, but...
By the time I came back to my senses, Flute's lips were glued to mine.
ah?!!
Flute held my cheeks while he kissed me, it was a needy kiss, not a loving one...
After a few seconds she pulled away from me as she looked at me with her cheeks completely flushed.
"You saved us Lord Paul...you saved me and my daughter and for that we owe our lives to you, so please...no matter what happens...I want to be by your side as your personal maid!" She said as she walked up to me and kissed me again, but all I could think about was the reason behind his actions.
Flute is desperate, that's obvious considering what she just did and her previous hints...
She is desperate, she doesn't make it visible now because she is relatively safe in our group, but when we arrive in Ars that protection will disappear and she and her daughter will be alone again...
That's what she thinks, and she's willing to give me her body for food and shelter. What a pitiful situation, right?...
"Stop Flute..." I muttered as I pulled her away from me.
I could see a desperate look on his face as he waited for my words.
"When I saved you and Lilia, I didn't do it thinking about creating a harem or anything like that, You are my people and it is my duty to protect you, And if everything goes wrong in Ars... then we'll see what we do there, but I assure you that I won't leave you guys out in the cold," I said as I looked into her eyes.
Flute stared at me and tears started to flow from them.
"Hah...I see why Lilia and Hilda are so crazy about you...you're too dangerous with women" she muttered while blushing and I blinked in surprise.
"Lilia? What do you mean?" I asked, but I already knew the answer.
"What he said is that you have smitten my own daughter with your charms, my Lord, and now that she has recovered, perhaps she will come after you," Flute said with a smile.
"Oh god..." I muttered and Flute laughed softly.
So after having this strange conversation we returned to where the group was only to be scolded again by Hilda for my delay.
...
"Fuuuu...okay, let's see," I muttered as I concentrated and closed my eyes. My goal was to create a new spell, but I had no idea where to start.
To start with, what can I create?
In my previous life and in this one I was not the most creative person in the world and now less, I was practically in a mental bottleneck.
To begin with, what uses could I make of new spells? My "barrier aura" What I called it was a spell that I created out of my own need in addition to the "Electric Lazer"
Yeah, don't ask me for the most creative names in the world for this shit.
"Fu...what do I have to do now?..." I muttered as I looked up at the starry sky.
Something that could be useful to me quickly and practically in fights, that was my main goal.
And as I said before, the knowledge I have only goes back to the middle of my primary education...
"No...there's something I can still do," I said as I opened my eyes suddenly and pointed towards the forest before the astonished gazes of my companions.
"Paul? Have you discovered anything new?" Hilda murmured and I didn't respond, I didn't even know if yes or no.
All I could do was remain silent and concentrate the mana in my hands.
I remembered my fight with Enzo, how powerless I felt against his strength and his speed.
I knew there would be very powerful enemies waiting for me from Millis and Darius, I knew that even with my current strength I would be no match for them...
That's why I need to come up with a strategy for my lack of strength.
And I just need something to slow them down or contain them...Anything I can do.
If only I could slow down my opponents, make them weaker, or whatever...
And how can I do it?...
"Gravity!!!" I shouted excitedly as I began to conjure more mana in my hands.
"Gra... what, "What do you mean?" Roxy muttered next to me with a visible expression of confusion.
"nothing..."It's the new name of one of my spells..." I muttered somewhat embarrassed.
"Ahem!...Laws!, please throw an arrow at me!, as hard as you can!" I declared while pointing a hand towards him.
"Hmm?...Is that another defense spell?" He muttered as he got up from the ground and began to prepare his bow.
By this point, these kinds of requests from me were no longer new.
(tricch...)
The sound of the string being drawn taut with the arrow in front of it reached my ears and my pulse quickened.
"Haa!" With a scream the arrow shot out at the speed of sound, naturally the archers in this world are much stronger than those in my other world.
The distance between me and the arrow closed in an instant and the arrow...slowed until it reached me and was suspended in the air.
"Haa...I did it!" I declared excitedly before Laws' astonished gaze.
"How does that spell work?" He asked as he approached me, looking at the arrow suspended in the air in amazement.
"It's hard to explain, but..." How do I actually explain this to a medieval man?...
"I just used mana to wrap the arrow around and make it slower and heavier, and now..."
I muttered and then cut the mana pulse on the arrow and it fell to the ground with a noise.
"The weapon loses all its momentum once you stop administering mana to it...but now I want to test it on humans," he declared while looking at Gesse firmly.
The guy looked at me in admiration but then blinked as the realization hit him.
"e-eh?!, what are you talking about?, and why me?!" The guy demanded helplessly.
"Come on! It's not like I'm going to crush you or anything!" I muttered with a mocking smile.
"Uugh...damn brat! Who do you think you're talking to!" The guy said as he walked towards me.
"Good!, "That's the spirit!" I muttered as I conjured the mana in my hands again.
From one moment to the next, Gesee's footsteps became heavier And an uncomfortable expression formed on his face.
"W-what's this?! Why do I feel heavier all of a sudden!" The guy complained as he struggled to walk.
"If it works..." I said with a smile and then raised my hand and Gesse rose in the air as well.
"a-ah!!, put me down put me down!!!" Gesee tried to swim in the air but it didn't work
"That magic is very convenient...do you think it will be useful against swordsmen?" Roxy asked while patting me on the shoulder.
"Yes...with this I'll be able to have more weapons against the people who hunt me" I said with a smile.
This is just the beginning, with this and more spells I can finally feel more secure.
"Hey!! Get me out of here already!!" Gesse's scream brought me out of my thoughts.
Oh yeah...
