Chapter 187: Third Task (E)
"...not only that! In the next task, he needed to bring the shares of Xubio Tech down!"
Specy was explaining everything to Shadow and Ice while eating.
"Xubio Tech! You mean the leading weapon manufacturers?!" Shadow asked for confirmation.
"Yes, and Jin succeeded! The task was to pull it down by 30% but he ended up making it fall down by 50%!" Specy recited in excitement.
"This crazy bastard! He's always does something unbelievable, do you know what he accomplished during the Stealth test? He…"
The next moment Shadow started explaining Jin's exploits to them.
Meanwhile, Jin could only smile in embarrassment while accepting their surprised and awe-filled glances.
Ice too joined in on the fun and told them about how Jin managed to hoodwink Brown making both Specy and Shadow exclaim in shock.
Cough cough
At that moment, Brown coughed and attracted their attention.
He then glanced towards Jin and said, "Your bowl's already empty. Let's go and continue with the test of you're done with eating."
"Yes, I'm coming," Jin said, and after washing his hands under a tap, he followed after Brown.
"Do you think he got pissed?" Specy asked speculatively.
"Definitely," Shadow grinned and answered.
Ice chuckled at the exchange and went back to her tent and Specy and Shadow went after then.
Specy dropped Shadow to his training room on the way and went to the Cyber Operation room.
When he entered, he saw Jin, whose eyes were focused on the mother monitor on the wall.
The last task was displayed on the screen.
Specy silently went to his seat behind Jin and seated himself next to Brown.
Brown ignored him as his eyes were focused on the displayed task as well.
Third Task:
Target: RainStrike
Objective: Attack Cybersecurity firm, RainStrike and cause global airport outage.
Time limit: 24 hours
'RainStrike? The company that takes care of cybersecurity for all major companies around the world?... Specy was expecting the third task to be difficult, but this was almost impossible.
How could a single person hack into a cybersecurity firm whose very job is to protect others and then cause a global outage? Is this a fantasy or what?
That's what Specy thought.
However, like always, instead of focusing on the problem, Jin's whole mind was now busy thinking of suitable solutions.
'Got it!' Jin exclaimed in his mind. Thanks to the longer time limit, Jin could think of this idea.
The next thing he did was to open up RainStrike's website and get familiar with all the companies it was interacting with.
Then one by one, Jin got through them and went through their source code to find a specific bug which he had in his mind.
Three hours passed and his search finally bore fruit.
In one of the companies, there was a bug that was causing a small number of transactions to fail periodically.
'Haha finally!' Jin cheered for himself and with a grin executed his plan.
He wrote the bug's description and the solution to remedy it. Soon sent it to the company's bug report email.
"It's seven in the evening here, so it should be around nine in the morning there," Jin muttered and stood up from his seat.
"I'll take a nap for three hours. Wake me up if I get any message in my inbox," Jin told Specy and grabbed a nearby seat to rest.
"G-got it!" Specy hesitantly looked towards Brown, and seeing that he didn't raise any objections, he agreed to Jin's request.

Lycon Valley: Tech City
Arthur had just taken a coffee from his regular coffee shop and was now headed to his office on the other side of the shop.
With a smile on his face, he reported for work half an hour before check-in time.
In the empty cubicle, he rested his cup on his table and sat in a relaxed manner.
'This is what I call peace,' Arthur thought in relaxation.
If he were still at home, then he would have to listen to his wife's nagging voice, and if he chose to arrive at the office right on time, then he would have to bear with the office's hustle and bustle.
He took a sip from his freshly made chocolate chip coffee and opened his computer.
He was the leader of the bug resolve team.
When his system opened up and email popped on his screen.
"Oh, a bug report?" Arthur muttered and opened it up. It was usual for them to receive these every two to three days.
Taking another sip from his coffee, Arthur read through the report while slightly nodding to himself.
'It's a simple issue, so I'll just go and implement the changes rather than waiting for everyone to come.'
With this in his mind, Arthur replied to the email id.
"Thank you for your work. It must have been very tough to discover this sneaky little bug. Email me your bank account and we'll wire the remuneration to it."
Once that was done, Arthur busied himself with his computer.
....
"Zed! Wake up!"
Specy's shout woke Jin as well as Brown, who was dozing by the side.
"It came?" Jin asked while rubbing his eyes.
"Yes! Just now, a message came from their end."
Specy opened up the email, and Jin read through it.
Brown's head also popped up from behind and stared at the screen.
"Perfect!" Jin cheered and grabbed his seat. The next moment his fingers started flying around the keyboard.
Seeing this, Specy and Brown didn't disturb him and just kept observing.
'The bug must have been implemented by now.' Jin opened the site to check, and it was indeed done.
Jin grinned and used the gap in the security which this bug check has created in the site to access RainStrike's network.
'I got access!' Jin exclaimed in his mind and started creating several vulnerabilities in RainStrike's servers, which were supporting various airports.
Two hours had elapsed after midnight, and Jin was finally done with what he needed to do.
"LET THE SHOW BEGIN!"
Jin pressed the 'enter' button and his well-planned spider net began its machination.
