My Kitsune System

As those words were said, it was as though a bomb had just been dropped. For a second it was as though Ryan's eyes widened, a cold glint shown in his eyes. But as soon as they came, they returned back.

But Dan didn't back down but kept staring back into Ryan's eyes. Dan's eyes demanding answers.

"We just met you know I hope you don't expect me to answer that though?" Ryan said with a smile, almost laughing even.

"Okay I can tell you something else if you want"

 Dan was still unfazed but still waited for a reply.

Ryan noticed this and just sighed.

"I can't tell you that or even if I wanted to, at least not now though" Ryan tried to plead his case.

"Why are you trying to help me then?"

"That's because I was once like you before... Confused at one point" Ryan beamed a smile.

"But then it got better when I met someone like me"

"So, there are more of us then?"

"Yes, a whole lot" Ryan said as he started walking away from Dan.

"You need to be careful though there are more of us out there.... doesn't mean it's safer out there.... You're more likely to be killed by our kind than any demon out there" Ryan said as he was now far away.

Dan heard the words a frown crawled up his face.

It seems there's a lot more to come

"You should get home and get some rest. It just gets harder from here on out" with those words Ryan left.

Dan was now all alone on the field. He sat down a bit before heading out.

He walked through the calm city. He was all in his mind.... His thoughts swirling... Noticing this a smile crept up to his face.

He watched as the cars came and passed. As he saw this, the whole accident he had resurfaced back to his mind. A kind of dark smile was on his face.

And this was how I had died you know, where all my problems started... He muttered to himself.

He didn't follow the usual route home. Instead, he followed a different and went somewhere else.

The closer he got to his destination... The more he noticed that place was getting grim.

He came and stood in front of his destination... It was an opened field with lush green grasses that followed the wind. He had been here a while back. It was meant to a while till he came back but he just needed to say hi as he needed it.

There weren't much people around as it was already late. Must people be on their way home or at home already. As he passed, he could see the tombstones with names written in them. Some had flowers, while some had none.

Some of the tombstones looked quite dirty too. As he walked closer, he could spot the marble tomb stone from afar.

It was always glistening be it by day or night it was shinny.

As he got closer, he could see Elise name written boldly on it.

He came and sat close to her tombstone. He placed his hand on the tombstone and used his hands to trace her name written on it.

With every letter he traced a memory surfaced.... Moments when she smiled at him.... The time she laughed and made jokes.... When they both goofed around.

Her smile made him smile... As the memories surfaced, his chest tightened. His tears found a way to escape his eyes and rolled down his face as he thought of her.

"Hey it's been a while.... Sorry I haven't come to visit.... A lot has been going on..." He said as he tried to smile.

Tears rolled down as he tried to clean them up.

"How have you been though? I hope heaven is as nice as they say.... I hope you don't have to worry because I still worry here"

"So, I know you would want me to stay longer here and do my best to make it worthwhile.... Be done with school, get a job and get a girlfriend.... But honestly with the way things are looking I may not stay here long enough" he said as he now laid down beside the tomb.

"It's either that or turn into killing machine.... I wish you were here though to see me.... Probably hold me too" he closed his eyes as he said those words hoping he could feel something.

But then…

Nothing …

With those words Dan cleaned his tears and then got up. He started heading back home.

I need to meet Ryan and find out what he knows... I also need to find a way to stop my life essence from reducing. Dan thought to himself.

Elsewhere within the dark city another individual was going home. He decides to take a stop at the park. The place was filled with silence and tranquility. It was just Ryan, the dark and every nocturnal creature. He then decided to take a sit and close his eyes. As he did, he felt the wind blow slightly towards him.

Not having to open his eyes, he could feel someone beside him. But he neither turned his face nor did he speak.

"You don't have to drown me in the silence. If you have something to say, just say it" Ryan spoke.

As he did and the wind carried his voice, the park was now just filled with a great silence.

"Just say it" he said again

Eerie whispers could now be heard. It spoke all around Ryan.

"I know I took a risk by my actions today and could have been spotted by the enforcers. But then I had to know what his capable of"

Then the whispers came again, enveloping Ryan with their words.

"I know his dying but then that doesn't mean he isa lost cause" Ryan said as he rested on the chair.

"I believe he has a lot more than his letting on"

He then opened his eye.

"I want to see what his capable of" Ryan said to the whispers.

And slowly the whispers drowned away. Ryan stood up to leave but before he did, he turned to stare at the crow that was perched on the tree.
